Well, after some new developments, I've just been on phone to 3 cancelling my upgrade! Looked on their website this morning out of curiousity, and the "discounted deal only because you've been with us so long and are such a valued customer" is , as of today, available to new customers, with a better phone than they offered me! (very basic phone which arrived today, and thankfully havent opened!) I don't normally get angry, but I feel I've been conned, and have told them I'll be going elsewhere. If I cant get a better deal, Ill just log on through Quidco and take out a new 3 offer and at least get some cashback! I am really very disillusioned now, especially after always telling people how great they are.
  • I don't mind taking a drop in minutes to maybe 200/300 and getting unlimited texts/Internet, but a handset of my choosing and for less than what I'm paying would always be nice.

I'm just gonna sod off to Orange or someone else at this rate.

I'm presuming that as Ive been told my upgrade is now cancelled and Im back on my previous contract, I can just walk away and go to another company? Not sure how this 14 day thing works!

You will have to serve a months notice with them if you want to quit.

Make sure you get the persons name etc when you ring to cancel - and be prepared for a long conversation as they will really want you to stay!

Thank you Quentin. Have already had yet another conversation with them..the guy made out he was going to offer me the deal of the century..turned out to be a further £2 off pm for 5 months and a Sony Ericsson W595 instead of Nokia 3120. Have reverted to my previous deal for now, and it has been confirmed that my contract is finished but I can stay on present one until I decide what to do. I seem to have spent past 3 days on phone to 3, and I need a rest!

When they say "your contract is finished", they mean your minimum period is finished. You are now on a rolling month by month arrangement, and do still need to give them a full month's notice to truly "finish" (and stop paying for it).

Thank you again for that Quentin. I did ask the gentleman to confirm it was now a rolling month to month contract, and that I was still getting the discount I've had for past 18 months. Am still returning the upgrade phone, and will give it a few days, have a look around at other deals, then give notice if I find something better elsewhere.
Thanks to everyone for their help!
  • Reckon I could get a deal on the Blackberry Bold anyone?

Just been on the phone to 3 upgrades for ages. Seen LG Renoir £25/month on their website, 18 months, 200 mins unlimited texts and internet, but you can get £47.50 quidco on top of that. After putting me on hold, he offered me the renoir at £25 a month, same as new customers, but then I spent almost half an hour trying to explain what quidco was, and I got nowhere. He just kept denying that quidco was anything to do with 3, and wouldn't budge from what he had offered. I think this is a good deal but it irritates me that he wouldn't give me a discount equivalent to the quidco cashback and that they didn't seem to believe me. Any ideas how I could have more success?

I had the same problem with the lady I spoke to this morning. She told me cash back sites depended on credit scoring lol!!!!!
