(you'd need to check in advance that your new provider and 3 PAYG can port numbers to each other!
I would be surprised if they weren't legally obliged to do so, as it is an important aspect of ensuring competition. As far as I know, the only thing you can't do is port a number to the same network.

My contract doesnt end until Nov 4, but today they offered me a sony walkman phone for the same £15 a month on the 300 mins/texts tariff.

I'm happy to dump 3 for Virgin £12 18 month tariff that gives 150+150 and a shiny new phone, but that threat carried no weight at the moment. Presume if I call to cancel on Sept 4 I might get a better offer.

Thing is I'm more than happy to keep the current handset if they'd offer me something like Hermann got of £5 a month.

I asked for my PAC on tuesday. And today got a call from 3.
I have 500 minutes, no text for £15/month for life. They offered me today £10/month for the mix and match 500 (£18 for new customers).
They offered me any phone that is currently free on this plan. I refused, I want the SE K850i or SE W910i.
I'll wait a bit more and hopefully get the phone that I want....

I was told there were no offers available to start with, then a different person called with an offer involving basic phones.
Then he phoned again with the £10 offer and said that was the best I could get and that there was no £5 offer available (I'd mentioned that other family members had a £5 deal ;)). Once I'd refused a couple of times he left me alone. On the last day I had to phone 3 as they hadn't called me back. I had the guys name and asked for him to call me back which he did about 20 mins later. He soon came up with a £5 deal as I "was such a valued customer".

From reading other posts in this thread (thanks to those that posted) I felt it was best to cancel then wait till the last day to see what was offered. After all you have nothing to lose by waiting.

So I guess the only tip I can give is refuse the early offers and speak to them on the last day.

Thank you, i will just wait.:j

Anybody been getting anything better then the 1100 mix and match for £20? I'm looking for something along those minutes/texts, but for cheaper if possible.

I've been a customer of theirs for around 3 years, but they dont seem to budge on that.

 I hope someone can help with my problems with 3. I have been with 3 since my in law told me about them in 2006. It went wrong from the outset. First my mobile phone keep going blank. I tried to get it repaired and this took about 2 weeks to rectify and then the charger won't charge the phone; I sent both back again and they sent back a new one because they couldn't repair the previous one.
Then there was a problem with my bills. This is the main area where I am having problems. I had a half price line rental deal for 17.50 for 18 months with 750 mins talktime, 150 texts, 50 MMS, 50 video minutes and £5 free downloads which I thought was an excellent deal. When my phone was returned to me in May and I received my bill for June, I was surprised that my bill had gone from £17.50 to £35. I tried to sort this out with Customer Service (CS) but they insisted that I was on that tariff even if all documentation showed otherwise. I went to the shop where I had taken out the contract and they spoke to CS and rectified it. My account was credited with £140 to cover the rest of the period.
 There were deductions each month from the amount credited to my account and in February this year, I noticed again that I had gone back to paying £35 and when I called CS, they explained that I should have been paying the other half of my half price line rental which I didn't so I would have to make up for the previous months of non payment.
In 2 May, CS called to me offer me an upgrade deal which I refused because I wanted a lower tariff, they offered me the Mix &Match 300 for £15, I refused but the CS told me to have a look at the deal and the phone (Nokia 6500 slide)and if I didn't like it, to send it back within 14 days but I felt it wasn't a good deal after reading up on it.The phone arrived on the 6th by courier but got it on the 7th and immediately called CS to cancel. I was sent a jiffy back 2 days later to send it back. Now, the problem got even bigger, I tried to get back on my previous tariff but they wouldn't put me back on it. I went back and forth in frustration until they finally put me back on the tariff.
On the 20th Ma, I went into Phones4U to look for an iPhone with my partner and I was offered a deal of £15 on the 3 network for 18 months (within my upgrade period) and cash back of £30 to cover what I had to pay 3 but I will have to pay 3 network £17.50 (which is my previous tariff). I went ahead with the deal which I felt was a good one.
I received my bill for June (£60.15) and called 3 CS to find out why the bill was so high, I was told that I was undercharged from the previous month so it was to make up the difference. I waited till July to see what my bill will be and I received another bill for £35 instead of £17.50.
I have since tried to sort this out with 3 and Phones4U and it's been a back and forth problem.
Please can anyone help!!! I want to leave the network now. I no longer want anything to do with them. I am angry and frustrated . I was only upgraded on 20 May 2008 which was still within my previous contract. What can I do?
