BT hasn't stated how many calls have to be made, but they suggest a 'few' a month. To use BT dial the prefix 1280 before the number. If you do this at weekends it will only cost you 1p a minute to use BT.

1p/min at weekends for 0845 numbers.

01 and 02 numbers are charged at 5.5p for up to an hour.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

I don't understand the bit about making calls through BT so it's free?

Our provider is actually BT - so does that mean its free anyway? Is the above just for other network users such as one tel etc?

If you use BT as your provider you should get caller display free anyway. Just check to make sure they are not still charging you for it.

I contacted BT over the weekend regarding the statement on their website saying that you have to make "some calls" with BT to qualify for BT Privacy. Here's what they said:

"I can also confirm that there is no set minimum amount of calls you are required to pay, so no penalties would be applied if did not make calls via BT on occasions."

Have ordered BT Privacy and intend to continue to use One Tel :-)

    Yes.

But dont change your line rental provider folks for the small saving you might make, just cps your calls.because other providers charge for caller display eg Onetel £1.75p a month. The cost of caller display with these alternative line rental suppliers, outways the small cost benefits made on switching your line rental.

If you want to put some traffic over BT using 1280 ,put your NGN 0844/0845/0870 calls through them as it is usually cheaper.

We do not currently pay for call waiting, but when I went to order BT privacy, it said that we would be charged £1.75 for it. Anyone know why?

How long does it take to activate caller display from when you order?

If you are ordering from scratch you should have it activated within a day or so. All you have to do is check your phone display to see if numbers are coming up for incoming calls and this will indicate you are getting the service.

If you already have call display and are just asking how long it takes to stop BT charging for the service, this is instant.
