  • Exactly the same has happened to me.
Written to them twice for breech of contract, also written to Barclays as I used interest free option. Dreams admit in letter that the sales person said this and that they used to refund money but they had stopped it by the time I reached my date for exchange under comfort guarantee. Still waiting for second reply from Barclays after I sent letter from dreams admitting they had told me I could have money back.
Thinking of taking them to court but not sure how to do it.
Also, I paid deposit on credit card should I be trying them as we'll ?
Good luck Steve, I haven't given up hope of seeing my money yet it's nearly £600!

Hope you have something in writing before even thinking about wasting your time trying for court.

    I have a tape recording.

In any case they accepted in writing that I was given the false information at the point of sale but claim that it is irrelevant.

I spoke to sa solicitor friend over the weekend and he says that they have committed fraud on teh basis that I reasonably ONLY entered the agreement on the basis of what I was told.

i think its worth the risk. Ive taken companies to court a few times now online and won and I think this is worth the risk.

    Thanks

Taking them to court is easy as you can do it online

    moneyclaim.gov.uk/web/mcol/welcome

It costs about £30. I have done it on 4 other occassions and won. However if it does get to court it can get get time consuming and stressful but most times they settle out of court.

I spoke to a solictor and he said that if they have admitted that they have given you false and misleading info at the point of sale as in my case then you should win at court. In fact he was very surprised and called it fraud by Dreams!!

I emailed Rebecca at Dreams today and told her of my intention to pursue a County Court Claim against Dreams. Ill let you know what she says.

The more I read about Dreams the more it tells me that I should do THE RIGHT THING and shame these rogues in court.

Ill keep you updated. Perhaps you can keep me updated to. How can I give you my email adress without it going public to everyone??

  • I bought a high sleeper for my daughter, costing a grand, from Andrew at the Kings Heath branch of Nightmares in Birmingham. I should have been suspicious because he seemed completely unaware at first of the existence of the type of bed we wanted (we found it via their website), didn't know about the free assembly included and was unsure about delivery. Nevertheless, he insisted that the bed would be delivered on the date given. I even called the day before the delivery date to check and he confirmed. Guess what? Yes, the bed failed to arrive. I'd dismantled my daughter's old bed the day before and, as the bed has still not arrived, she is now having to sleep on the floor. She has leukaemia and is currently undergoing chemotherapy, so you can imagine the discomfort and distress that this has caused. I visited the store to complain. Andrew was not there at the time but one of his colleagues stated that this is not the first time he has made this sort of mistake. I called today to see what is going on as I had still not heard and spoke to Andrew. He was unapologetic, unhelpful and I received thinly veiled threats of violence when I attempted to explain the upset that his mistake had caused. The guy is a scumbag and Nightmares are a company you should avoid at all costs. You've been warned!

Thanks Jamie, when I asked for the order to be cancelled, the store are not agreeing to it even though its only been partially fulfilled. when asked for the swap over for another king size mattress with the promised discount of 70% they are asking me to wait until one turns up which warrants a 70% discount.

Just tell them that you want afull refund, as they have not fulfilled their side of the contract under the sale of goods act. And mention that you will be sending all details to Trading Standards.

    HI ALL

I spent £3,000 on beds and a mattress. I was told that I could exchange the mattress if it was uncomfortable within 40 nights. The store manager specifically said when I asked him that if the exchange mattress was cheaper then I would get a full refund on the price difference. Now Customer services are saying that the Store Manager got it wrong and I will not get any refund leaving me £400 SHORT!!

I will be taking them to court and so will keep you updated. Does anyone know where I stand on this? Surely they have to stand by what the store manager said who is still saying it. In fact ive recorded him saying it!!!

I wish I had read all these reviews before I bought from Dreams.

I'm afraid Dreams have never refunded the difference, which makestheir so called comfort guarantee worthless on their most expensive mattresses.

I'm afarid this sounds like yet another example of sales staff telling you what you want to hear in order to get a sale.
  • I ordered a very expensive bed frame, mattress, pillows, duvet etc the works, from dreams - this was 6 weeks ago!! I was told at the time that we had a 3 week wait, which wasn't an issue, however, we are still waiting!!

I have phoned the local store and apparently my mattress came in yesterday but the delivery slot for Friday was already gone ( its Wednesday today) and the only available one was the following Tuesday! So that would be 7 weeks that we've had to wait! I'm absolutely livid, especially as my mother makes mattresses for a living and confirms that they only take half an hour to make! Why we should wait 2 months nearly is nothing short of a joke! Dreams really needs to sort their delivery systems out otherwise there will be he'll to pay.
Apparently if you ring up and threaten them with cancellation of an order they soon start the ball rolling. I'm tempted, my over all order came to just shy of 3 grand.
    Very annoyed and frustrated.

To wait 7 weeks is unacceptable, and you would be fully within your rights to cancel. A lot of the delays have been caused by Dreams suppliers putting their account on hold, presumably due to them not paying their bills. But this isn't your problem.

How come if your mother works for a bed company, that she didn't warn you to never buy from Dreams? Most people know that they are extremely over priced, and have terrible customer service.

Personally I would cancel, and then get far better for far less money.

Hi All, New to here and just seen the post on Dreams Beds.
I bought a Hudson Oak bed frame and a Mattress from them about a month ago and the advertising for the bed was a Leather headboard.
They did not have one in the shop so we trusted the advertising for the item. I give them credit for keeping their word on delivery of 10 days for both items and all arriving perfectly as planned.
I put the bed together which was easy and overall very pleased.
The only problem is the headboard was not leather at all!
I went back and checked the advert and sure enough 4 times leather was mentioned, not faux Leather or vinyl - LEATHER.
I went back to Dreams and emailed them the problem and details which they basically ignored and they made a statement to say the leather is coated which will mask the leather smell but it is leather.
Well I know what leather should be like and thought I am not going to get very far so decided I would use my works XRF Analyser to check a small sample and this would be 100% correct and would verify what the Material was.
It turns out to be PVC Vinyl!!!! Oh dear! Miss advertising a product.
It is a real shame as I like the bed and all is good but now I feel cheated that I have bought a product which I thought was one thing and it turns out it is not as advertised.
I have sent them all the results and there should be no argument as I have used XRF Analyses in my company for over 7 years and taken on mulit-national companies and been proven correct every time. It has now been over a week and I have heard nothing so contemplating contacting Office of Fair Trading and BBC Watch Dog!
Why do these companies create their own problems by not replying or sorting out issues customers have?
Anyone else had this sort of issue?
    Cheers,
    Paul.
