If it is not legal to sell Bi-cast Leather in the UK as Leather then they have broken the Law and I have proof. I have also contacted BBC Watchdog hoping they can help.
They must learn that just because they are a large company they can not jump all over customers.
It is the principle that angers me:mad:0 -
I placed an order with dreams on the first bank holiday Monday in may 2013 for a bed frame costing over £1000! Got told by the local store that were currently out of stock and would take 4-6 weeks to come in, that was fine as we were doing the room up it was going in. The I got a phone call in the 3rd week say that the bed frame would be delivered till the middle of July, so i told it wasn't good enough and wanted compensation for the wait, they offered us £50 cash and £75 gift voucher to use in dreams so i told them to poke that as i wanted me for the time i was waiting. 2 weeks ago i had phone call telling my bed was in and ready for the delivery so i booked for 05/07/13. I got a text message yesterday confirming this, then i get a phone from dream telling me that it will be another 3 weeks as there is fault with the bed frames. I asked for more compensation but got offered the same! I have now cancelled by order as i have found the same bed frame cheap and a quick delivery!:mad:0

Stop asking for compensation, and just cancel, and get a refund.
Then buy the bed from somewhere else. You will save far more than you will ever get in compensation from Dreams, as in most cases you will probably get it for about half the price.0 -
Having been to the Milton Keynes Dreams store 3 times prior to 22/06/13 where I had been ignored by all the sales staff I decided I was going to make someone process my sale having been in and out of the store twice on that very day!! <my background is sales management so I cannot stand an environment where even with a captive audience, supposed sales agents don't even say "Hello" to their customers>. Anyway aside from that, I ordered 2 childrens beds including assembly, was told in the store that we'd get a call on the morning of delivery and it would be a two hour slot upto 6pm.
Well todays the day, at 8:13 am phone call from delivery guy, Hi i'm calling to let you know I'll be there between 6 & 8, my response was along the lines of - come again?!! you do realise these are kids beds that include assembly? his response was sorry but cant do anything about it...... I was enraged at this. I thought ok not going to take it out on the driver - did try to reason with him but to no avail. at 9am I ring the Milton Keynes store and spoke to the manger Robbie who nonchalantly states simply that we wouldn't have given any time just that it would be a 2 hour window, I say so my window is 6-8 this evening so if the guy turns up at 8pm with 1 and half hour assembly time per bed meaning job done at 11pm - totally unacceptable, how this can be deemed even a reasonable customer service, absolutely ridiculous. The manager then goes on to quote awards they have received - i was furious and made it clear that they certainly were not received for the efforts in that store!!
I believe there is nothing I can do - I was considering declining the delivery and claiming back the £1k as payment was on credit card and then buying from elsewhere and charging any differences in cost and express delivery charges back to them, but the only ones who suffer will be my two children 4 and 6 years old without a bed.
It is ridiculous - it should be made clear upto what time the delivery can take place and assembly time factored in, they are supposed to be furniture specialists - children's beds..... hmmm I wonder what time they go to sleep, I'm only glad its not a school night tonight, I don't think they're going to get to sleep at their normal 7pm bedtime tonight due to this incompetency and lack of common sense.
PLEASE AVOID DREAMS PLC. THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY, GIVE INCORRECT INFORMATION AND ACCEPT NO ACCOUNTABILITY OR EVEN OFFER ANY SOLUTIONS!!
Letter of complaint on its way to the post box next - I'm going to ring the delivery guy back and offer him £50 to get to us earlier. see if that works?!0 -

I doubt that they would let you cancel anyway, unless you bought on line.0 -
I guess I was one of the lucky ones. We went to view a bed in the Truro store, found the staff very helpful and not pushy at all. In the end we bought the bed online as we couldn't be bothered to do the 60 mile round trip to Truro again and were promised a delivery date. A few days before we got a text confirming the delivery day. On the morning of delivery we got a phone call with an estimated time. Bed arrived exactly when they said it would, and I have to say was very pleased with quality of it. Can't comment on the mattresses as I went and bought a silentnight one elsewhere.
On that basis I would use them again.0 -

I wouldn't say you were lucky. You would have probably paid double what you could have paid.
As for buying a Silentnight mattress....good luck!0 -

Not really as I couldn't find anything else remotely close to what I wanted and from research with independents etc the price was fine. I wouldn't pay the alleged full price though.
As for silentnight, am on my second in 15 years. My last was brilliant and my new one seems even better. Guess that's not a profitable response for you though0 -

You will find that if you read the many threads on here with complaints about Dreams, that even their so called sale prices are about double what you could pay. However if it's something that only Dreams sell, then I suppose you have no choice.
As for Silentnight, if you read many threads you will find that over the last 10 years or so their standard has dropped. And that they are considered by some as one of the worst brands on the market. 15 years ago they may have been ok.0 -

I had exactly the same experience as you. 10 months of the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in and still extremely happy! I'd certainly use them again.
The issue you often have is that people are quick to complain about issues but far more unlikely to praise a company. You'll also find the odd person with a major chip on their shoulder that will disregard any positive thing you say about said company - if you're happy with your purchase then just enjoy it and let others grumble away0
