Beware the Dreams "comfort guarantee," we bought a mattress , the list price was £819 , when we went to pay, the salesman put a mattress cover in a bag and said you get a free matress cover, and also I am going to give you a free 10 year guarantee. We paid the £819 and waited a few weeks for delivery, which was fine. When the mattress was delivered I found it very uncomforable, however, I was not too upset as we had the "comfort guarantee" which said that if after 30 days you find the mattress uncomfortable you can exchange it for one of same or higher price, as long as it hadnt been specially discounted. After 30 days I returned to the store and was told the guarantee was invaled as the mattress had been discounted, i.e the "free" mattress cover and 10 year guarantee counted as discounts. As we had not asked for these and it certainly was not explained that these were considered "discounts" and would invalidate the comfort guarantee. We phoned and wrote to Dreams but they wont budge.
Can't help but think that this is a standard procedure to avoid having to exchange goods. I will never buy from them again, feel I have been completly conned.

That is disgusting. Dreams should of had the decency to tell you, that if you have a free mattress protector, you can't use the 30 days guarantee. What a con. They give with one hand and take with the other.

When I visited dreams, they did give me a discount and did tell me I would have to pay it back, if i wanted to use the 30 days. I would not of though the free mattress protector would void the 30 days.

They should give you the choice. I am glad in the end i did not buy from these cowboys. Over priced and fail to tell you properly, about the terms.

I have had a look at the terms of the ten year guarantee and it's not worth it. They don't cover a lot of things that can go wrong with a mattress.

    WHAT IS NOT BEING COVERED?
    • Use other than domestic, excessive soiling or unsanitary condition
    • Deliberate damage or misuse including the manufacturer’s instructions not being followed
    • Accidental damage, incorrect or faulty installation
    • Damage due to weather such as lightning, flooding and high winds
    • The cost of materials and labour charges for which the manufacturer is held responsible under the terms of any guarantee or warranty
Normal ageing or wear and tear including mattress settlement and “dipping
    • Work for which the manufacture has recalled the product
    • Loss of or damage to accessories
    • Noises caused by the use of the product
    • Damage caused by foreign objects or substances not normally associated with the product
    • Repairs carried out by the persons not authorised by us or without prior approval
    • Any routine maintenance, cleaning, realignment, modification, installation, or transit
    • Any loss suffered as a result of not being able to use the product or any loss other than the repair and/or replacement cost of the product
    • The expense of a service call when no fault has been found with the product
    http://www.dreams.co.uk/info/terms-and-conditions/

That practically covers their back, so they don't have to repair most things that can go wrong. The bit in bold, is what can go wrong the most on a mattress and it's not covered. That is the only part i would be interested in.

My advice, don't take the ten year guarantee, even if they give it to you for free. Just not worth it.

They call it a guarantee, but it is really just an insurance policy with so many get out clauses they I doubt they actually pay out very often.

    Hi Tim,

    thanks for the help :D
Thinking about it, its probably my fault for not checking around before I bought the bed, I'm usually the bore who doesn't let anyone buy anything without checking every available site for the best price/reviews but was so desperate for a new bed I just went and bought without comparing.
I also thought the deal was buy now pay nothing for 12 months, I always intended to pay in one hit but had to save the money, so still think its a bit rubbish paying £29 when I don't even want their credit oh well you live and learn, even more gutted to read that I am one of the complete mugs who bought their 10 year guarantee

The £29 admin fee for the buy now pay later is very clearly noted in all the copies of paperwork you receive from Dreams. It hardly seems fair to say they have conned you when you are clearly just too stupid to read the terms and conditions.

People say that companies like Dreams exist only to rip people off but when they are daft as you are, I don't think anyone needs to rip you off.
  • Rubbing his hands for offering generic advice? Are you trying to scare me into not posting my honest views? If you are it's not working.

I'd be very interested to learn why Mr Deegan is expecting to see you in court. As far as I can tell from the posts on this forum he is a one track minded bully who feels the need to impart "advice" onto the unsuspecting users of this forum that merely results in them being directed to his website! His products look shoddy and very overpriced themselves! Whoever heard of a two sided memory foam mattress anyway?

I hope you bring him down!

Are you going to start getting personal about someone you know nothing about then?????

I give honest advice so that people don't get ripped off. If you don't like what I say, then ignore me, but don't start being irate, and throwing abuse at me for no reason.

    ANYWAY
my mum also ordered a bed from dreams and when the delivery date came and went she called and blah blah blah blah...ended up waiting weeks for her bed. It arrived. It had a hole in it. A bit more hassle, another few weeks before she got her bed, and she had to take time off work for the delivery three times...they were basically awful.

You make me laugh, you really do - you have ripped off me and several others (that I know of)

They really should put you up for an Oscar....

Well that is a complete lie, and unless you have any proof you could end up in court for making such allegations.

It is obvious to me and anyone else that you have been posting under two different names. Now grow up before I get a court order to make MSE reveal your identity.

Its not a lie and I have proof and I am most certainly not who you think I am.

Sadly for you, there are so many disgruntled customers of yours that really, you have no idea which one I am.

And I would quit threatening people on this thread and get over to the MSE "Consumer Rights" Forum where you could really get into the interesting debate with those who are discussing your understandings (or lack of) on Consumer Law & DRS.
  • I bought a dreams king divan with Tempur mattress, cost over £3000. They called me up on the day of delivery, gave me a time for delivery so we took our old bed downstairs, wrapped the old mattress up in a bag they had given us because we paid £35 for them to take the old bed away.
Waiting, waiting, waiting but they do not turn up. After 40 minutes on the phone I was told it would arrive in two days!!!!!!!
When it finally arrived there were parts missing, u clips which join both divans together etc. The guys put the beds up and di what they could and told me to ring the store for the missing parts, they told me to call customer services who then told me to call the shop, lol
The customer service is terrible, rude people.
My only impression is that once they have your money just forget it.
Shame because my sister likes the bed and wants one just like it. I hve sent her somewhere else so who gets the last laugh, me because they have just lost £3000 from my sis, lololol

Never ever go there if you expect any kind of after service when things go wrong, and trust me they will if you shop at NIGHTMARES er i mean dreams....:A
