Once the bloke has done the inspection, ask him if you can have a copy of the report sent to you or provided then.
The person who inspected mine offered a fix to the bed with a stronger materials off the record, had the bed screwed up elsewhere and they had another inspection I reckon they would state that I had amended the bed and would have got nothing for it! I also didn't want that frame any more due to the poor quality of it from Day 1.
He also told me that I would struggle to get anything from Dreams, best I could hope for would be an alternative bed for the same money or pay some extra and get another frame from them. He also told me to stay clear of all of the fabric range from Dreams and stick to the wooden ones as they are far more reliable!
My last bed frame I bought was for £150 off ebay, it lasted 5 years and broke due to wear and tear. I am gutted I through it away and didn't repair the one broken part of the bed now!
Didn't you involve trading standards??0 -

I received both items 5 months ago!
The bed I managed to get a full refund for after 3 months of dispute. The mattress only recently collapsed so I am waiting for a response from Dreams regarding this.Tim_Deegan wrote: »THat doesn't surprise me at all given their sales tactics. However I think that Advertising Standards may be interested.
It would be interesting to hear if anyone else has failed to post negative reviews on their website!
Francesca: 3 reviews. 5/4/4
Carina: 2 reviews. 4/5
Jemma: 9 reviews. 5/5/5/5/5/5/5/5/5
Bologna: 4 reviews. 5/5/5/5
The Berkeley has one 3 star rating which states that the owner has not received his bed yet but they do different colours in the showroom.
The Marseille also has a 3 star rating stating that they are really happy with the bed.
The majority of beds have 4 or 5 star ratings only if they have ratings. In fact, the majority of beds have NO RATINGS. Dreams are absolutely massive, I would love to know how many of each of those beds they have sold online compared to how many reviews they have of the beds on their website.
This certainly looks like they are doctoring their website in their benefit to sell more shoddy beds.
Has anyone else here posted a poor review and failed to get it on their website then?0 -
Well as I said previously, the mattress would be deemed to be faulty when purchesed.
Contact trading standards to get them moving. Also mention their reviews to TS.0 -
Hi All
Just wanted to share the following - In December 2009 my wife and I took delivery of a fantastic bed from dreams which is Super King Size and has a built in Tempur Top to the mattress.
We asked all the right questions, got what we thought was a very good deal and for 2 months were fantastically happy, then the trouble started.
At this point I need to explain that we specifically asked about turning the bed and we were told it asn't necessary because of the memory foam and turning the matress over wouldn't work because the tempur top was fixed. Additionally we asked if there was a weight limit which would cause issues with the mattress to sag and were told no.
Well back to the issues - the bed started to sag and after an additional one or two months was pretty bad, the bed being so large that thee was a large rise in the middle between two valleys where my wife and I lay.
We complained and they sent around an investigator who took several photos and measurements but wouldn't comment on any questions we asked. We didn't receive a response so I called to chase it up and was told that "because we hadn't turned the matress around (head to toe) regularly in accordance with the conditions of sale any warranty was invalid".
Having been told verbally turning wasn't required they said they wouldn't honour the agreement. Several phone calls later and much frustration we hit an impasse and have no option but to eithe rwrite off £1600 or sleep in the dips..
We have been living with it for the last 8 months and don't know what to do about it0 -

Contact trading standards. It wouldn't do any harm to inform BBC Watchdog either.0 -
An elderly lady I know recently purchased an electric bed from Dreams in Rochdale. When it was delivered she immediately noticed that the mattress was a good 7 inches shorter than the base. She immediately phoned the shop to be told that is how they are made??????????? Being elderly and not in good health I took the matter up on her behalf. The local branch and their customer services department are giving me the run around. I have written to them and if I receive no satisfaction I shall take the matter through the small claims court. I can not believe that a company of this size would mislead an infirm, elderly citizen in this manner. Someone ought to be very ashamed and I for one shall never, purchase anything from this organisation.0

Adjustable beds are usually 6'6" long, and occasionally 6'9" long. This is to allow for the bending of the mattress. So the mattress needs to be the same length also. It sounds like they have supplied the wrong mattress, but are trying to wriggle out of it.0 -
Bought a wooden Bed (Prague) and Mattress (Chaucer) from Dreams in September 09. We took out a 10 year warranty on the mattress also, as it was a major investment and our new bed after I was hospitalized with back problems.
During the purchasing process, we tried several beds and mattresses, and talked with the salesman regarding my bad back and hospital visit, how we needed a new bed and that a good nights sleep on a high quality mattress was important to us. My wife and I agreed that we'd found the one shown to be comfortable and in our price range.
One of the selling points made by the sales person (which my wife also witnessed) was rigid sides to the mattress, meaning they didn't collapse when you we near the edge (and fall out of bed). The memory foam top and pocket springs made the mattress feel comfortable and firm enough for my back.
In the past 6 months, I've noticed the mattress has become soft, and the sides no longer retain their structure when you roll near the edge.
Having contacted Dreams to raise a claim under the warranty, they sent an independent expert to look at the bed. He claimed I'd been mis sold the mattress, and stated verbally to me 'they just want to make their commission and so will sell you anything'. He also stated that I should have been offered a firmer mattress if I had a history of back problems, and a salesperson cannot make a call on suitability in 30 minutes of chat. The mattress is a firmness 4 (medium).
Dreams have contacted me by letter after 7 days of the independent inspection and explained that because no manufacturing default can be found, they'll not be refunding or replacing the mattress.
Question is: I feel I've been mis sold under the Sales of Goods Act. Where do I go from here?0 -

Do you know who the inspector worked for?0
