We got a Dreams mattress and they offer a thing calld a comfort guarantee. You can try your mattress foe 30 days and change it if you don't like it. They're one of the only companies who offer this. Not all big companies are big baddies!!! :)

Actually have you read the small print? This only applies if you also bought the base from them at the same time. And they won't give a refund, they will only exchange. There have been quite a few posts from people who have bought from them, and tried to return the items under their so called comfort guarantee, only to be told that they can upgrade, but not downgrade. But they have to pay the difference which can be quite substantial.

Actually the comfort guarantee is one of the better things about Dreams (as long as you qualify). The bad things are their fake price promises, their fake sales, and their very high prices.

No, it actually applies if you buy any mattress, you don't have to have bought a base. Have you read the small print accurately? We didn't buy a base from them, just got a mattress. We were offered to exchange for the same price mattress so didn't HAVE to pay any more except delivery whcih is fair enough. We coould have downgraded if we'd wanted to but we chose not to.

Why should they give you a refund on something which you have bought and don't like? Why are they any different from other companies? They don't even HAVE to offer the exchange on something which you don't like. Faulty is different situation to a change of mind.

People should read receipts when they buy smething IMO. They gave us a cool off period which a lot of companies don't.

Ah, sorry about that, they have changed their terms and conditions since I last read them. These are the new ones that apply:
The Dreams 'Comfort Exchange Guarantee' applies to mattresses only (sold to retail customers who have not had an individual/special discount) and not divan bases, bedsteads, odd sizes or Showroom Clearance mattresses. If after 30 days, allowing time to get used to your new mattress), and before 40 days from delivery (or collection) the customer decides their choice of mattress is proving uncomfortable, they may then re-select an alternative Dreams mattress of the same size and for the same (or higher) value than the original. Any accompanying divan base or bedstead cannot be exchanged. Any difference in price must be paid at the time of re-selection. The original mattress must be kept in good condition (not marked, mis-used or soiled in any way) so we strongly recommend the use of a mattress protector. Delivery charges will apply for a Comfort Exchange if delivered.
Which is probably why many people have reported that they were given an extra small discount, or things like pillows thrown in, so that they have then received an individual/special discount. Which of course voids the comfort guarantee.

Funny that, I had a free mattress protector and a free ten year guarantee but it made no difference.

Hey don't shoot the messenger. I'm only repeating what many other people have said from their experiences with Dreams. I would never have to return anything to them, because I know how they operate, and con people into paying more than double the price they need to.

People do have a choice as to where they buy. They give a 24 hour cooling off period if someone isn't happy with their terms. I guess that your own competing bed company has its own terms as well that not everyone will agree to.

This is supposed to be a money saving site, and the fact is that even if you do like their terms and conditions, their customer services, and their fake sales and price promises, they are still very very expensive.
  • Hi All,

I don't have a complaint about my bed bought from dreams but I do have a problem with their "interest free for a year" I took this option last December when I bought a new bed, when looking at the agreement it says there is a £29 admin fee if I pay in full on or before the 29th December 2010. Can anyone tell me what this fee is for? Do I have to pay it? It was never mentioned when I bought the bed, think it’s a bit cheeky to advertise 1-year interest fee when you actually have to pay £29. I noticed somebody earlier in the thread mentioned they didn't pay it but didn't say what they did

Thanks in advance for any advice

As is often the case with Dreams (as well as many other big retailers), they are very rarely straight with you at the time of purchase. Although I'm sure their legal department has them covered with loads of loopholes. The Dreams fake price promise is a good example of this.

As far as interest free credit goes, this is my understanding from my enquiries (although different companies my be different). If a retailer offers credit with interest then the credit is given by another credit company, and not by the retailer themselves. So the credit company earn't money from the interest on the customers payment, and the retailer usually gets this service for free. With interest free credit the retailer has to pay the credit company for this service, and will therefore often use hidden charges in order to try and get back some of the expense of the credit agreement. You will often find that for this reason retailers who offer interest free credit will usually be more expensive in the first place.
