Got a date for inspection by Ecomaster (recommended by Dreams) on the 19th of June and my 40 days exchange warrantee period has been extended till then but the matteress is really doing my back and hips in. How can i go about getting a refund via medical reasons?

If possible get a company of your choice to inspect the the bed. I would contact FIRA to find one. Dreams recommend Ecomaster because they find in favour of Dreams almost all the time.

What you have to realise though folks is usually in stores like dreams stores that teh mattress you will try in teh showroom is not going to be teh same feel as the one you will get as the one in teh stores have been lay on by so many different people, teh one you get will be brand new so will feel different, hwoever should settle in once you start to use it.
As for goods not being fit for purpous, is teh mattress a mattress? yes, can it be used as a mattress? yes, and is the mattress specs as advertised? yes. if the answers are yes then the goods are fit for purpous they just may not be to your liking, which is completely different.

I have also bought from Dreams and have had a GREAT EXPERIENCE which i feel most people do, companies will always have complaints, and for a company the size of Dreams, to only see this many complaints on here i am very pleased, think of how many orders they must get and now look at how many complaints are on here, not a bad ratio at all i feel. yes things go wrong from time to time and sh*t happens, are you telling me that your work place gets everything right 100% of the time??? (if you answered yes your probably lying, lol) I ordered a mattress that felt slightly different in teh store to teh one i had delivered, but as i was explained it will feel a little different due to teh reaon above! teh mattress i had chosen in teh end was too soft, hwoever Dreams offered to replace it for me under a 40 night comfort guarantee to something else i liked, which they dont have to do. If you try buying from any other bed retailer and you order something you cant get on with then tough luck, Dreams will actually change it for you as a good will gesture which is way above ane beyond what legaly they are meant to do. honestly i think that some of you need to get a grip, yes youve had issues but dont we all make mistakes???
  • Since complaining to Dreams customer services department regarding the above, they have contacted me and said they would drop the charge to 10% once I have chosen what I would like to replace the ill fitting furniture with.
I explained that I wanted a refund, not a replacement so I am staggered that even if I was replacing what was returned with something else from Dreams that I would have STILL have been subjected to the 20% fee.
I am willing to bet that Dreams make as much on charging customers for nothing as they do from actually selling beds and furniture, knowing full well that there is a better than average chance that furniture will not fit up stairs and will be returned at a 20% proportion of the original price of the furniture despite getting the furniture back to sell again.
It may be morally reprehensible, but what a smart way to make money for absolutely nothing!!!

I think that you have just got a bee in your bonnet on this one, NO COMPANY will read the T's & C's to you, however they will give them to you, i have read my Dreams T's & C's and it does say to check measurements and you have 24 hours to change or cancel if you find something wrong. They also say they can charge if they need to be changed after this, which most companies will. Go ask SCS if they allow cancellations at all (the answers no, if its wrong, its still yours) Its not down to the sales people to check your measurements and that access may be an issue. You will know your home better than anyone so you should know! Personally when i bought all my items from Dreams i checked all of my access sizes, room sizes and thought all this through BEFORE I ORDERED. im amazed that everyone doesnt do this and then could blame the company for there mistake. I understand you have had an issue with Dreams, however Trading standard have confimed they are legal and they did offer to change for you (with charges which they probably get charged by there suppliers), this is more than what they HAVE TO DO!!!!

You really need to read all the negative posts about Dreams.

It appears that you were lucky, as you were one of the few people who do actually qualify for their comfort guarantee.

There are actually retailers out there who give a proper satisfaction guarantee.

At the end of the day, even at Dreams sale prices you probably paid more than double the price you could have done for the equivalent product.

A more cynical person would think that you worked for them!
    Gone ... or have I?
  • Blossom is definitely family or staff of Dreams.
"Campbell and Rozsnyai (2002, p. 132) define fitness for purpose as:
One of the possible criteria for establishing whether or not a unit meets quality, measured against what is seen to be the goal of the unit."

So when dreams promises you a good nights sleep but instead all you get is a doctors referral to Physiotherapy as in my case, then i'm sorry but the item is definitely not fit for puspose as it does not align with the luxurious , healthy, body supporting matteress that was sold to me for £2100.
The 40 day guarantee does not work well for me as the next mattress down is £700 cheaper (which i don't get the difference back) and the next one up is £900 higher (of which i no longer want to part with a penny to dreams any )
Ecomaster came over to inspect yesterday and i'm waiting for the geezer to go in favour of Dreams before i start "Modern Legal Warfare" with them armed with Physio and Chiro reports, doctors letters etc cos my pains only started since i started sleeping on the matteress.

I had similar problems - I ordered a bed last year (and it was not cheap and cheerful, I can tell you!) and they decided that they wanted to deliver the bed earlier.

Fine - if they had actually asked me before the day they wanted to deliver it, as I hadn't actually moved the 270 miles to my new house yet. I told them this and they were most put out that I didn't want it yet, as it was taking up room in their warehouse. Eventually, I managed to pursuade them that I wasn't going to hop on the train from Yorkshire to London and stand outside the new house with it for 3 weeks.

    Delivery day - no bed:

"We delivered it 3 weeks ago"
"No, no you didn't. You tried to, but the delivery date has always been today. Can I have my bed please? I have paid £700 for it."
"You can have it two weeks from now"
    "But I don't have a bed"
"Could you not stay at a hotel?"

I managed to get it from them two days later after much kerfuffle.

Luckily, I had ordered the matress from Benson's for Beds, who were amazing and actually appreciated my custom, so I wasn't on the floor.

    AVOID.

Bensons can actually be just as bad.

As a general rule stay well away from the big chain stores.
  • HI Tim and others,
I finally got inspection done on the mattress on saturday and called Dreams today and was happy to hear their admittance that it was a manufacturers fault and they'll be arranging a replacement. Phew... Can i by any chance claim compensation for the 2 months of harrowing back and hip pains due to the faulty matteress or am i pushing it too far?
    Thanks

You can try, but I wouldn't hold out much hope.
