Hi just getting used to making posts being lurking since June 07!!
Made HM pizzas for dinner (2 x 12'') and a chocolate brownie cake
Made some HM veggie soup and having that for lunch
Only spent 2.59 on the mozzarella cheese as hadnt any in the house
Hope all have a good day. Looking forward to 'chatting' to you all on a regular basis here on MSE. Love it.:A0 -
Well, new bed for DS has to be returned as the manufacturer can't supply the slats. I had to pay for another bed ( ) and then trust Tesco to recredit my account with the first payment. New bed will be delivered on 29th January. It will be worth it in the end but I'm just sick of looking at mess everywhere I turn. 2nd chap I spoke to said the least they could do was send me a gift card for the inconvenience - didn't mention an amount, mind you, so I will have to wait and see.
flanno - hi and welcome. I'm sure you will find the OS board the friendliest on the site.
mary43 glad you got some time to yourself. So sorry to hear of your DH's SIL but you are right, when there is no quality of life, it can be a relief. As for DH keeping his worries from you - well, my DS was very quiet for a couple of days. I talked to him and asked if anything was up. For the first day, I was told no. By late afternoon the next day he told me he had pains in his groin area and was worried that something serious (like cancer - bless) was wrong with him. After a few well-worded questions, turns out he had a groin strain. The change in him was unbelievable - he was back to his bubbly, chatty self in no time. I think some men are just predisposed to keeping their worries to themselves. Especially for you -and a :grouphug:
Hester is your lodger sane?? The more I hear about her the more I doubt her sanity. That may seem cruel but I'm assuming that this woman isn't a naive 17yo since she has a teaching qualification. Can she really not figure out that the credit cards *must* eventually run out?
There were a couple of other things I wanted to comment on but cannot remember them. Peter Kay is on in the background making me giggle with his observations. So, ((((hugs)))) to those who need them and :j :j to those who have good news to celebrate. xx"Bad planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."

Mary43- Just realised my comment sounded really flippant. I didn't read to the end of your post and didn't read the bit about your SIL. Hope that your OH is ok and that she didn't suffer too long.0
-
Joey emma - I didn't see it as flippant at all.
As for OH's specs.............well he's more than happy with them and if he'd gone to Primark the nearest one is 20 miles away - he'd have had to drive there and what with the cost of petrol and parking he probably had a better deal from in town here.
Anniebooklover - men are a strange breed sometimes. OH is a great one at keeping things to himself and what with these headaches I expect he was imagining all sorts plus he was talking about my Mum and his Mum and saying that when they're no longer around we're next in line..........we become the oldest in the family...............I told him, no worries - my brothers older than me and so are his two brothers..............lol Does remind you of your own mortality though at times like these.
Oh. better clarify in case it's confusing.............lady who died was sister of my first husband, not the one I've got now.( First hubby died in 1974) and I think current OH frets more about me getting depressed and then gets himself on a 'downer' which helps no-one. Still, 'these things happen, all part of life and we can;t make time stand still' (my teenage grandsons quote)
Thankyou for your kind thoughts. I feel much better now I've had some 'me' time, OH has new specs (very prof.like...........lol) and is watching tele with a smile on his face so all is well.:jMary

Evening all,
Been at work since 8, had a good day, except for having words with my 'management' .I am currently trying to do the workload of 3 people, doing 3 completely seperate jobs (belt, stock and picking). So, when I finally had 5 minutes to myself, I went to chat to a friend - well, management saw me talking . It could have been the end of the world the way he was carrying on.
Got home and OH is asleep - am very worried about him atm, in the past few days it feels like we are back where we were 2 months ago. He is very depressed and I don't know what to do to make him smile - he won't go back to the doctor about it, as the last lot of tablets they gave him made him suicidal
Am supposed to be making chilli for tea, but not sure if I can be bothered now. I am getting fed up of wet washing!!! Will do it all tomorrow and stick the fire/CH on so that it all dries.
Anyway, hope you all had a good day
P.s Catowen If you do happen to win a tractor, you must let me have a go on it as I only live about 10 minute away from you. You could probably ride it to my house in factWe must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -
evening all,
we have had a great day here, spent an hour swishing the house, went to local town and got my glasses fixed, the joy of having comfy glasses is great, going to send an e-mail to their head office, when I told the girl last week that they were uncomfortable, she said they would wear in  , but they left my nose and ear red raw.
Have paid the deposit for our holiday cottage for easter, so looking forward to that, then went out walking for the afternoon, had a great long walk, and the dog is worn out
Quiche salad new pots for tea, delish, just watching a bit of tv, then a glass of wine xx
Hello to flanno you will love it here xx
Mary43 hugs to you xx
Hester :rotfl: :rotfl: how old is your lodger ?
have good evenings all xx0 -
Evening all,
Welcome Flanno...you are my nearest 'neighbour' on here that I know of, so hope that you enjoy and profit from thread as much as I have.
No rest from rain here, seems to be all over Europe, just talking to DS1, DDIL1 and DGD2 from Holland and they are getting it too....have to think about a few days in Uithoorn before they come home in June, always enjoy my visits there so might as well sneak a last one in while I have free B & B!
Stir-fried chicken with veg and salad for dinner to-night...OH has gone to pub with brother, soninlaw and son, so long since he has been before that it feels strange, house is so quiet as when he is here tv is on highest volume...in spite of his two hearing aids!
Dorry ...congratulations on new job...3 days is enough for anyone
Welcome A Typical Blonde, we are a friendly if somewhat insane bunch.
Joey Emma...hope that your EBay sale worked out
Mary...men are strange creatures...OH has been telling me for almost 40 years that he will die soon...used to believe him and panic, now know that it is his way of saying that he is feeling a little down, have heard it several times since Christmas and told him yesterday that if he didn't stop I could easily arrange for him to be right!
Hester...how could you listen and not laugh at her...the girl is mad!
Congratulations to all of you who seem to be decluttering, polishing furniture and generally making your lives easier for yourselves.
Hugs to all in need or want, hope that everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend

mean marie...................strange creatures they are indeed ! And it always seems to be this time of year - January and February. OH likes to be out in the garden and there's not much to do this time of the year (well not that he'd find interesting and fun.........lol) and he's not a 'hobbies' person at all. I've got him books to read -he used to read a lot - but hes out of the reading habit at the minute.
I can quite happily sit and make cards, play on computer or generally mess around with something (although supposed to be having major de-clutter !!) and I've run out of suggestions of things for him to do apart from some decorating and general household jobs............that doesn't seem to be the answer either.............lol Think it's a case of biding my time till he gets through it and we get some sunshine, bit of warmth and colour in the garden.
We have got some time off left that we have to take before April and he's looking forward to that even if we don't take it till March. It's something for him to focus on.
Maybe...............just maybe, now he;s got his reading glasses and feels a miracles happened, he just might help clear the bookcase out.............? I can';t reach the top two shelves so he;ll have to...............lol
Oh.......not being morbid but quite some years ago I was convinced I was going to pop off this planet.......think it was when my first boy was about start school that year and I swore......well I knew ...I was not going to be there for him so I had a total de-clutter, labelled everything and I mean everything....so people would know where everything was when I'd gone. Then I went to the doctors about something totally different.........mentioned it to him and he said January and Feburary are the months of the year when depression is likely to set in. Being told that I suddenly realised I wasnt going to pop my clogs at all.................lol Just goes to show how daft we can be sometimes.
Ooops.............long post........sorry about that...........once I start I can't leave off.............lol:rotfl:Mary

Hi all,
Tru, loved the poem:rotfl:
Dorry, congratulations on the job:T
Hester, Your lodger is v strange:rolleyes:
Lots more i wanted to comment on but have got the memory span of a goldfish. For dinner we had roast chicken with mash and greens - was lovely. Made some scones which were delish. Got to get a few sandwiches together etc for tomorrow from leftover chicken, going swimming a.m with the kids and oh then straight onto ggrannies nursing home for a visit about a 120 mile round trip so need to keep the kids well fed otherwise they play up and i don't want to have to stop and pay for anything to eat (that wouldn't be very os). Would probably end up eating junk food that way.
Its worth the effort to go and see ggranny as she is lovely and a joy to visit and at 96 years old may not be with us much longer. She isn't very mobile now and gets easily upset but she loves to see us and the kids.
I know what you all mean about depression and the weather in January and february. I get realy fed up if I can't get out in the daylight at least once a day, hence my bike riding in all sorts of weathers:o Its worth getting wet just for the exercise and fresh air. Plus i'm bloody minded enough not to let the weather get the better of me:rotfl:

Evening all
You've all been so busy. I have done b****r all since I got up:D . Decided the housework could wait so after finishing my book, having a bath, defuzzing legs and plucking my eyebrows, went for a walk along the beach into town. I haven't done that for ages and I must have more child and OH free days:D .
Enjoyed my coffee and reading the paper, trying not to lech at 2 very nice waiters dancing to salsa behind the bar. Oooherrr
Hugs MARY 43 and anyone else who needs them.
Welcome new posters.
DORRY congrats on your new job.
Off to pick up DS and OH. Have a good evening all:A xxxx0
