They don't put a black mark on addresses anymore, just the individual people at that address so any debts she runs up shouldn't affect your credit rating. Trouble is, you could well be plagued with debt collectors and bailifs at some later date is she doesn't pay her cards off “You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Hello all
Gosh - so many people are decluttering alongside me. There must be a smell of Spring in the air now its the new year!
DH has been at rubgy all day - I have pottered about enjoying hte weekend. As a treat I walked to the local deli and picked us up some portugese tarts for pudding tonight! Has anyone ever made these? are they easy and does anyone have a recipe?
Have been following motheroftwins thread, after someone pointed my in its direction this afternoon. What a heartbreaking tale - and its made me totally mad that the system lets down those in genuine need!!!!
need a cuppa to calm me down i think.
Hope you all have a great weekend xxxr.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
Hi Chameleon
I'm good a dealing with debt collectors & baliffs, I got a lot of practice at the last place I lived as the previous tenant had done a moonlight. I also have a drug dealers front door! When I had a new front door fitted to my house I was still being harrassed by my ex, so I wanted a good strong door, the one I have, when locked properly, will keep out the police even with a door ram for a few minutes, long enough to flush the stash, or in my case, long enough to phone the police & get out the back door. So at least the baliffs can't break in, lol.

LOL sounds secure! :rotfl:
Just a thought, but if she's over here presumably on a working visa then wouldn't she get into terrible trouble if she got herself into debt? I don't know much about it but I'd have thought there would be extra checks done on people coming here to work, assuming she's even allowed to get credit in the first place“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
There don't seem to be any checks made at all, she got a job as a teacher & no-one seemed to check whether or not she could teach & if she knew the subject she was employed to teach. She did arrive with a wallet full of cards, so she may be using ones she already has.

Afternoon all
Hugs to those in need.
Not a bad day here - at least it didn't rain. Had a lovely lie in then had a good hours mooch around the library....back for fridge pickings for lunch and then out for a lovely muddy walk - DD's took their bikes and ended up completely clarted in thick gooey mud - lovely - WM now working overtime to catch up......they had such fun though that I really don't mind.
Been making my patchwork aprons this afternoon for mothersday - took me ages to cut out all the squares but got one half done and it looks lovely (a bit lopsided in one place but that's the charm of HM stuff right?)
DH made a curry last night to mature for tonights dinner - smells yummy, he makes a really lovely one with chicken (from my bone a chicken efforts earlier in the week), apricots, apples, onions and raisins, so at least I'll be getting some of my 5 a day later.
No plans for tomorrow - doing really well with the grocery spends and should be able to pay £1k off of debt this month :money:

Afternoon everyone,
just a quickie after catching up as i`m still at w**r until 9pm.
I managed to have a quick swish around with the duster before i left and DH has promised to do the same with hoover so things should be fine when i get home.
Then i`ll need to sort out the wm, dw and bm for the morning and get things ready to come back to w**k again.
The good intention of doing some ironing each day to catch up has not materialised but i`m trying my hardest to ignore it
Have a lovely evening folks!

OH now has specs for reading from the chemist - £3.50 and he reckons they're brilliant !! Says he's been having a job to read the paper (why did he wait till today?) and been having headaches -not a word to me about it -typical man !!
So, think he feels a bit better now. Hope so...........can just about cope with myself.......................lol
He's now cooking me cheese omelette and chips...........bless..........and hopefully we'll have a peaceful evening and he'll feel better tomorrow. If he does, then maybe I will. Oh what am I saying...........course I will. Just the news of sister in law dying that was upsetting and quite honestly its a load lifted for her son. Hope that doesn't sound too awful but when someones in their 80's and so poorly it is pitiful to watch them suffer so.
Right.............off to have my dinner with a smile on my face.....you never know............it just might rub of on OH........................lol:jMary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Pleased with our progress so far this weekend - polished diningtable and chairs with beeswax, quick hoover of dining room, cleaned kitchen, cleaned a window inside and out with vinegar spray, sorted out more junk into bags, one side of bedroom bookshelves nearly finished, made flapjacks, cooking dinner.0

Mary43 - If he thinks thats cheap, try Primark. They do reading glasses for about £1 a pair. All the ladies I work with have them and we must have tonnes on various desks!
Well, I am holding my breath at a fab ebay sell (expected to get £10, somebody has offered £90) but won't get excited until the money is in the paypal account and feedback has all been left!
Have made my first ever baps, using my Panny to make the dough. I've made some spicy Moroccan lamb burgers to go in them and a cooling raita dressing. I can't wait!0
