Hi guys. since signing up to the site i have sent off for the bank charges. found out since 2004 ive been charged £400!!! i cant believe its so much! nearly all of them were £36 but one was £150 one month (lots of things paid by card came out after overdrawn so negotiated that month for £150 down from original £200 they wanted to charge).
So i sent the letter saying i feel its unfair etc.
got one back with the usual "court casde goign through so we cant" "fsa have agreed we can wait etc". I tried claiming these back a year ago and had the same crap then.
HAS ANYONE BEEN ABLE TO RECLAIM WITH HSBC YET?
just wondering as i have said to them i will accept £300 so potential will save them money in the long run.
thanks, oilrag0 -

I have just had a lovely little suprise when I logged into my HSBC current account. A £25 Overdraft Administration Charge. I called HSBC and they tell me that this is for them to continue allowing me to use the overdraft facility for another year. Now i've had this account over 12 years and have never ever been charged an admin fee the only charges i've paid is the interest. So now they tell me i must pay this £25 administration fee every year to keep my overdraft, my overdraft is £500 i do live in it but i do credit money and withdraw from it every month. They said if I do not pay the £25 (I mean if the refund it, they've already taken it from me and made me over my overdraft limit!) they will take away my overdraft facility. I'm not sure which i'm more annoyed about the charge or the threat!! Any advice welcome! Should I take this further even though I can't afford £500. Are they allowed to threaten me like that?

Does anyone have any updates with regard to the reclaiming of charges especially from HSBC?
This is the second time I've reclaimed (the first went through now problem) obviously this time they have the test case going on. I last recieved a letter about 3 months ago saying it was on going.
Should I send a letter asking for an update? Or just be patient?Fantastic Expectations Amazing Revelations0 -
hi
have you exceeded your overdraft in the last year? or it may be 6 months? i think the terms and conditions say they dont charge if you havnt.
they stung me for £150 one year :-(

I had the similar sort of problem, they returned a DD because of insufficient funds, charged me for not paying the DD and took me over my overdraft limit.
When my benefit was paid into the account, it was all eaten up by the excess charges, they said they wouldn't charge me for the overdraft but will charge me for going over the limit...0 -
This has happened to me recently. After 13 years of occasionally going overdrawn mainly through inattentiveness on my part, I received the Overdraft Review letter a few weeks ago. I phoned them yesterday and told them remove the overdraft facility and I will be closing the account in the next month or two. So much for customer loyalty.
It seems that someone in HSBC noticed that there were lots of overdrafts out of which they were not making a lot money, hence this new charge.
*edit*
To answer your question, yes they can do what they have done. If HSBC have decided to charge you for your overdraft and you don't pay that fee they can withdraw the facility. Harsh but typical for banks these days, I am afraid.0 -
Hi Im just looking for a bit of advice really. I had a bank account with HSBC over 8 years ago now. I had a flexiloan which meant that they gave money, took back an amount each month but I could then take it straight back out again. I eventually (young and stupid) ended up with a debt of £10,000 which included many many charges and overdraft fees.
I requested my charges, which they sent me and put a claim in over a year ago now. They wrote to me explaining that obviously it was all on hold and I would have to wait.
Problem I have is that I have a debt company chasing me for the money which in all honesty I am never gonna be able to pay of in the next ten/twenty years!!! I pay them £40 a month which is all I can afford as have two children and the obvious bills that come with them.
Most of the bill is charges and there were nearly £3000 worth when I sent the request to HSBC.
How can I claim any faster.
I am struggling so much and this is an added strain on me and the kids. Im fighting to pay off a debt that half is there fault as its all charges. ??????
Also does the interest continue to grow or does it stop to what I claimed for on the date I claimed as obviously that was over a year ago and will have gone up massivly if they bill it to date ?
Any advice???0 -
You can't claim any faster. The Test Case is still on hold. You will be in a queue with all other people's cases and when there is an outcome, this will mean that you will be dealt with in turn. So unfortunately patience will need to be adopted. I know this may not be easy but it seems many others are in the same boat here.
I reckon the interest will still grow because the debt is outstanding. Have you got any means to pay off the flexiloan with a personal loan, thus stopping the accrual of interest on the flexiloan??Loan-£3600 only 24 months of payments to go!!!
All debt consolodated and cards destroyed!!
As D'Ream would sing 'Things.....can only get better'!!!0
