Does anyone have the contact details of someone in a high poisition of authority at HSBC.

I am sick and tired of the spiral they have got me into, of them taking my benefit money, and refusing to deal with my claim under the hardship rules. and of waiting for ombudsman to deal with my complaint.

Am going to try sending a letter to some top bod there claiming under the hardship rules and the social security act.

Anyone able to help would be great!!

    thanks
  • My other half decided to have a go at claiming back his bank charges after hearing about the success his brother had who had only claimed for £800 but was offered £1000! OH didn't have any idea how much he had paid out over the years but thought even if he only got 1 charge back then paying a £10 cheque would be worth it.

A few weeks after he sent off the cheque we heard about the court case so resigned ourselves to the fact that we would have to wait a while to get the money (if any) refunded. Two months or so pass and we hear nothing and the cheque hasn't been cashed so we get ready to send off a new cheque and try again until this morning we get a letter from HSBC:

"The attached list shows fees that have been added to your account for the period requested in respect of overdrafts which we did not agree with you in advance..... We are happy to waive any fees for the production of this information and in order to protect your security, we have destroyed the cheque you sent on Bank premises."

Very impressed with HSBC's attitude in this respect. Suspecting that this is to make themselves look better for when the court case is finally over so they don't lose too many customers. I was also glad that more banks are now deciding to send out a list of charges rather than all the statements. Looks like they've realised that !!!!ed off customers + the cost of sending 30 or so envelopes of statements is gonna end up costing them a hell of a lot more than sending 1 sheet, sucking up to customers and retaining their business!
My mortgage costs me a sobering £13.06 A DAY!

That's about 5 pairs of shoes a month i'm missing out on!
  • Hi, apologies if this has already been answered.

I have submitted my claim to take my bank HSBC to court for charges over the last 6 years, totaling 454.99 including interest and court fees. Unfortunately, I was not aware before I began of the current test case.

The bank acknowledged my claim on the 24th Aug. If they don't file a defense and i submit judgment in my favor after the 28 days from the date, will I be still eligible for the return of the funds from the bank?

    Thanks

    Al
  • They were like that with me, but then ignored all further correspondance, I have now proceeded with the court process, but they have acknowledged the claim, and its looking likely it may be all put on hold.
  • Apologies if I am asking a question that has been asked before.

I was due to be going to court on 12th October in my claim against HSBC. However I have just received a letter from their solicitors saying they are applying to stay the claim until after the OFT case.

I know others on here have applied to have the stay overturned but I have noticed quite a few have been unsuccessful.

Should I just accept the stay as I know they will get it? I'm not sure on what grounds I can have it overturned.

Whether they get the stay is up to the judge not the bank some judges are more receptive to hearing arguments than others In addition to the arguments that are available on this board and on CAG you may wish to deploy the following argument. If you look at the following document ( copy the document at this link three times so that you have copies for everyone http://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/business_leaflets/general/PCA-particulars-of-claim.pdf)
The scope of the case of Offcie of Fair Trading v Abbey National PLC and others is quite narrow and deals with only one specific issue. As it does not deal with all the issues in this case it would not be appropriate to stay this case pending the hearing of Offcie of Fair trading and Abbey National PLC and Others as even after this case a trial would be needed to deal with the issues not covered by that case. As a consequence there will be no saving in court time and it will only extend the time taken to deal with this case.

Also by the time of your hearing the OFT may have abandoned thier case anyway.

  • I bank with hsbc...... from my own records they have charged me £526. I have gaps in my own bank statement records. How can I get a look at my last 6 years of banking charges without them knowing why. My situation is complicated I'm begining a HND from next week, I have opened another ac with HBOS.... thanx mse for the tip with that 1. Should I make a claim?? If anyone else has made a claim from hsbc can you tell me what you did??

  • Have you tried looking at your statements online?

And how come you dont want them to know about it? I got my 6 yrs worth of statements no questions asked, no fee, from hsbc, it did take a long time though

after calculating what i was owed i used the template on this website to send off to hsbc, i got reply saying "we are looking into it". I thought that was a shun, but 6 weeks later a letter turns up offering what I claimed back, but minus the interest i had tried to claim, and i took it
