Hi
I read somewhere that the maximum a bank could charge you in one month was £125. Could some one tell me if this is right or not?
thanks
vicky
Vicky66,
This is a new one to me but I'll bet some other forum usees will reply to your post. I was charged £413 in 12 days by my bank and few years back. Had last laugh though when the charges were repaid in full this morning0 -
I just checked and it was overdraft charge plus interest. Well done getting yours back I just got a letter from HSBC saying my case was held on file until the outcome of the court case

I rang HSBC last week and was told my case was on hold due to the OFT High Court case. I informed the woman that I would still be starting court procedings on the 8-week mark. She informed me that it would be a waste of time and money and that the judge will just stay the case. but better to get the claim in early and protect the charges (all are almost 6 years old) than to lose all.0

I sent HSBC a letter claiming all bank charges on the 12th June 07, they then sent a letter on the 20th June asking me for a breakdown of all charges I was claiming. I then sent them this on 11th July and after that the court case was announced. I called them and was told on the phone that my case wouldnt be dealt with. I received the officail letter telling me this today! What do you think I should do now? To complicate matters further I did not originally claim for 'total charges' and also since the original claim have incurred another £400 in charges. So the claim is now much higher than the original £1400!
cheers

You never guess what the same thing has happened to me aswell!!!! i sent my acceptance for my offer back and it was logged on their system 7th august 07, they have told me they are sending another acceptance for me to sign with new wording on it!!!
I was fuming too!!!!
it`s so annoying that its took us so long to get the offer in the first place then to be told after you have agreed the offer that they have to send a new acceptance!
totally stalling again!!!! what a surprise!
Still havn`t received the first offer letter that they said they had sent on 21st July LMAO
I have to laugh really cause im going to explode otherwise!!!
Hopefully we`ll both get this sorted around the same time.
Good Luck Hun Bingobella xxxxx
Hi Jolly,
Had a bit of luck today went to the bank on the off chance that they could print me the 2nd acceptance letter out! they did so now have the letter and sent back today by fax. So I should receive my money on the 28th I think! about time.
Why don`t you try and do that if you still havn`t received your letter go to the branch and ask them to print it for you, there is not much change with the wording only that they have included the information on about the bank taking a test case to court blardy blardy blah! you have 2 months to consider the offer etc etc.
Hope this helps hun.

Hi all, back again, not had much chance to get on. My money has all gone now lol, but at least some bills were paid off. The gf hasn't received her money yet after returning her acceptance due to the same issues as a few of you are having. She knew this was going to happen as the information is at the bottom of HSBC's home page on the internet. Frustrating I know, but I guess the idea is for you to take their offer, or wait out for the court case and hope for 100% back. She will be accepting though.
Fingers crossed again for all still waitingWage Day Advance, Quick Quid, Pounds to Pocket and Pounds Till Payday....i'm after you0 -
I am sorry if this has already been posted but there is too many to read through
I have send my request for my charges to my two banks, HSBC and SMILE and they said they would get back to me with an offer (smile within 4 weeks and HSBC no time scale) It has now been 2 months though:mad: .
What do i do now??
Please help me.0 -
I wonder if anyone can help here or is in the same situation. I have been claiming back £2900 of charges from HSBC. I received an offer from them of £2375 just a day before the OFT/Bank announcement. With this in mind I decided to accept their offer and signed and returned the form as requested (registered). They said the money would be credited within 2 weeks which would have been today.
On returning from work I received another letter completely blanking the fact that I had signed and returned my previous offer but with this paragraph in...
""you should be aware that if you accept this offr this will be in "full and final" settlement of your complant. this means that it is unlikelyyou would be awarded a further sum even if the test case indicated that you could be intitled to a potentially larger amount. thought this dose not predlude you asking for repayment of future charges if the court finds they are unlawful"
Now, Do I call them and ask why they have not credited my account as promised within the 2 weeks stated ? (The letter was signed for) or just sign this new one and be done with it ?
Is this a case of the banks trying to pave the way for a defeat in the courts and not having to pay some claims back ?
Any advice would be most welcome.

Choice is yours mate but by the sounds of things they are playing dumb, give them a ring & say that you have sent 1 form back already, give them the signed for ticket number & ask when it will be in your account, it may be that they crossed in the post. If they fob you off ask for the persons name, tell him you will address it to him/her that should make them look for it
To be fair they have offered £600 less than you wanted but for all we know the test case may put charges at £12 like the Credit Card & they will certainly reduce the offer, as things are we just dont know, depends how much you need the cash but look on it like I did, its money however much that you thought you would never see again..
Hope this helps
