  • So use the on-line small claim court to go ahead with the claim...even if the court put a hold on it and the OFT wins, then thsi is amount that I will be looking at right ?
  • Hi
HSBC offered me a settlement of £350.00 by letter on 22nd June. I refused this offer and wrote and told them that I would be proceeding with court proceedings (which I haven't started yet). They wrote back with no acknowledgement of this letter and said that they had not received any response to their offer letter so would be considering the matter closed.

Can I backtrack and accept the original offer?

I have just come off the phone from HSBC, HAVING TRIED UNSUCCESSFULLY TO HAVE A £25 FINE RE-IMBURSED. The lady I spoke to would not budge an inch on this and stated that the charge was perfectly justified. I asked to speak to a supervisor but was told that the answer would be the same. Previously I have been successful in getting these fines re-imbursed, but it seems that they are now toughening up. She gave me an address to write to if I wanted to complain in writing. Meanwhile another account I have at HSBC is being fined £100 per month plus interest.

I know some banks have a policy of only refunding "normally reliable" customers, who have incurred the charge as the result of a rare mistake. There are guidelines combined with the banker's personal judgement - "if they have incurred less than 3 charges over the last 12 months..."

Once you start getting them regularly, they can see your history and will refuse to refund any more charges.

This isn't specific to HSBC in any way, but is definitely true of at least one major high street bank.

    Hi Guys

I hope you are all well, sorry I haven't been around for a while. I am so cheesed off about my claim being 4 days away from the 8 week mark that I can barely bring myself to even think about HSBC anymore. I am absolutely fuming  . I think they should have been made to set a date and then not deal with anymore claims received after that date but to clear up the ones already in the system. I keep hoping that by some miraculous intervention from Martin that they will lift all suspensions, or that my claim somehow slipped through and I receive an offer letter!! Fat chance!

I am off on holiday to Devon next week so I am going to have a week on the beach and not give H (Horrible) S (Sly) B (Bullying) C (Conmen) another thought while I am there!

I am pleased for everyone that got an offer prior to the annoucement though, well done! I know I should be grateful for having one payout but that didn't scratch the surface of what I need to pay out  . Still, I'm sure there are people out there worse off than me.

Nicky, I'm sure you'll get your money by the 14 days. I got mine on day 13, the last few days of waiting are horrendous aren't they!

Does anyone have any updated news on the current situation re claims and how long it is likely to take?

    Hey Sam,

Glad to hear you're ok! We were worried about you!!

At least you've got a holiday to look forward to - we are thinking of going to Devon and Cornwall next year, stayed in Dorset a few weeks ago and thought it was lovely.

Mind you I could do with another holiday now! Been off work this week looking after kids and I keep threatening to go back to work!!

Keep your chin up, I'm sure all will come good in the end! Have a great holiday!

  • Hey Everyone!!

    It's day 13 and £1733.58 has been credited to my account!!! :j :T

    I can't believe it!!!!!:j :j :j

Within minutes of logging into the bank and finding it, I ordered two new sofas that I've been drooling over for weeks and they'll be here next Thursday which, coincidentally, is the day before my next lot of charges are due to be paid in!!!:T :T :T

Gonna go and celebrate now with a cup of coffee - the kids think I'm mad jumping around the place shouting YIPEEEEEE!!!!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

Will be in touch again later when I've come down off the ceiling!!!!
