  • Hi,

I sent my first letter to HSBC about a week and a half ago to reclaim £1380 back (without interest) and got the usual "investigating your complaint" letter back about four days later.

I've been thinking about just holding out the eight weeks.... I've also been thinking about what would happen if i were to offer HSBC the chance to pay me off with, say, a £1000 settlement within 14 days or threaten to take them to court for the full £1380 PLUS interest. - I'd probably be giving them the chance to save themselves money in the long run.

I should go the full way and try and claim the whole lot back but i'm being impatiently skint!

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers

iWantitBack - unfortunately a few people have tried this and had no response at all from HSBC. They will wait out the 8 weeks (or near enough). I have heard of people who gave them a chance to settle early for a lower sum, then find they heard nothing for 8 weeks, only to be offered more than they were willing to settle for. Strange, I know, but HSBC are quite prepared to wait out as long as they can. Your choices are stick out the 8 weeks, or take them to court for the £1380 + interest, however the way things are looking, that could be more than 8 weeks time as the courts are so busy. Its up to you, but if you read back through this thread, you can see how HSBC usually react (pretty predictable really) - 7-8 weeks offer around 85% of claim without interest. If you accept, return form and your money appears at midnight 14 days after they receive your acceptance back.

Good luck, in whatever you decide

    YAY LOU!!!!!

Youre waiting is finally over. I'm so glad its finally turned up. I have looked through loads of this thread and i cant believe out of the original Scs you were the last to get it. But hey! Better late than never eh?

My hubby has sent his acceptance back special delivery and they got it thursday lasty week. I keep checking his bank online...... , its gets soooooo frustrating. Can i be a honoury member too please, i know its hubby who is claiming but i am the one who did all the paperwork and sent them off. All he did was sign the letter!!!!

I have told him i want 25% hehe, i cant believe people are actually paying a company to do this for them.

Lou, you deserve a long hard cold drink after all the waiting you have done. Hope you spend it well and treat yourself to something nice.... like a long sleep!

    ENJOY
  • WOW!!!!!Well done Lou!!! I am so happy that your waiting is over! Bet you had the best night's sleep in ages:T (or were you kept awake thinking of how you'll spend it??).
I sent another e-mail last night cos my 8 weeks is up on my second claim today.......

Welcome Show_Me_The_Money there's plenty of room in the SCS now I'm sure!! My acceptance letter was sent back on the 19th July for my first claim so we can self combust together........
