Afternoon all --- Today went pear shaped but i'm slowly bringing it back round.
Took DD's swimming this morning - DD2 decided she might like to try and drown herself - had a major cough and splutter and won't be trying that again!! DD1 slipped on the steps on the water slide and managed to bruise all her back. Had to make a complaint to the manager about the state of the complex too - especially the cafe - can't belive the staff were all standing round talking whilst there was so much obvious stuff to do. Expected to go to mothers for lunch but as DD1 was sore and DD2 was feeling grotty after her "experience" we came home. They both went to bed for a while with a book and I've been running around like a loon trying to get stuff done. (Was looking forward to having someone else make me lunch too!!!)
We did painting yesterday and left the wet pics on the kitchen floor to dry during tea - DC (darling cat) decided that standing in wet paint was the best option and then skitishly ran off into the living room to march around the sofa....and did he stand in the nice cream coloured paint to blend in with the sofa....oh no -- the shocking blue!!!!!!
Need to make a lasagne for tea for DH and me - 5C's (chicken, cabbage, carrots, celery and courgette) soup for the kids (leftover from yesterday) and jacket potatos (also left over from yesteday) Also need to wrap a birthday pressie - get ready for work tomorrow, pack some stuff to go away for the weekend, make something for dinner tomorrow night, sort the washing, put away the swimming stuff, string up the cats, change the beds, wash the kitchen floor, clean out the parrot and what else was there......oh yes.....goto bed!!!!
Take a deep breath - count to ten and relax....hmmm yeah right!!!"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

Pooky ..what rotten luck you've had
Today my neighbour gave me 3 huge cucumbers from her greenhouse so we had cucumber sandwiches for lunch.
Went to look for education books for my DD who homeschools and found 3 .
We have risotto in the oven for tea using my new second hand casserole.
I might get out to do a bit more gardening later as the earth is all soft and easy to dig since the rain.
I even got a line full of washing dry.0 -

Last night a cupboard handle fell off in the kitchen, so rummaged in the
shed found screw driver & fixed, but had to screw up again today, not
a sturdy design..
Today downstairs toilet stopped flushing - a cord connects one bit to another, basically worn out and broke - can't see how to reattach, so currently top off and pull long pink string, lifts syphon at bottom to cause loo to flush,
not ideal, but works!! I thought English toilets were bad enough to fix!
Why do toilets/drains always go wrong the day visitors arrive.
No new slug trails in the cellar, so hopefully was only the one lonely slug, but leaving the pellets down in case for a day or two more.
Culpepper - pleased to hear your DD is homeschooling, I did it for my two from ages 7/8 to 13, it was brilliant. Hope she's enjoying it.
Ancasta - hope the interviews go well, you are busy at the moment with lots of changes.
DS1 signed up for Freecycle today for the area where is student house is, he and his friends are looking for some homebrew kit (well they are students), and so hopefully moneysaving is catching. :j
Also DS1 & 2 are enjoying the summer revision on cheap meal cooking, did a bean/tom/garlic/onion thing with rice for lunch, both say that it's a definate for Uni.. :j
Got to dash now DS1 & 2 arrived back with hungry visitors.

Hi everyone,
My day has not been very OS today but there is still time to redeem myself. I was working today but this afternoon this involved me visiting a local agricultural show. It is very unusul for me to be allowed out of the office so this was quite a treat. I was given my £10 entry ticket by work, so no cost to me. After doing what I needed to do for work I was free to wander around which was very interesting.
Whilst I'm on I must tell you about my new breadmaker. An all-singing all-dancing Panasonic SD253. I bought it from ebay for £57 and it is virtually new. The seller said it had been used twice and I believe him. I tried it on Sunday with a raisin loaf and it is fabulous! My old Morphy Richards just cannot compare. I will put a softgrain loaf in this evening. I can see an end to shop-bought bread in sight!
Tonight I must do my ironing (huge pile  ) and sort out some paperwork as this has got a bit out of hand recently.
I'm off for the rest of the week so I will be more OS then I hope.
Bye for now!Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

evening all, yet another long long work day for me so very little o/s. Was too tired to move when I got home last night so ended up not making lunches and buying a sandwich on the way into work today (at least I did that, rather than spending £3 in the canteen...
). I'm going out for lunch tommorrow (Ikea, £1.25 for a hot dog and juice) so I've two days to get my behind in gear with packed lunches
I actually think I might be sickening for something as I'm feeling a bit grotty today... boo. fingers crossed for a quiet rest of day and early to bed...Pre O/S: what's a vitamin? Does it begin with the letter e?Now: I'm not eating any of that pre-made rubbish...0 -
Made my everyday biscuits, potatoes are on boiling, dressing is all whisked up, had some nibbed nuts left over so im having sainsburys white label ice cream with golden syrup and nibed nuts. mmm
Have yet to dye my hair or pamper myself.
Mushroom pasta with grated truffle for tea i think.. using up the last of my catering packs of porcinis and truffle0 -

The usual rule for Freecycle is that you must first post an OFFER before you can post a WANTED. So they need to think of something they can swap for the beer kit...

Hi all
Just another average day at the office today, though with the radio on to pass the time a bit more quickly. Lots of people are away on their holidays at the moment so it's nice and relaxed. Luckily I managed to get home for my lunch - so didn't have to buy anything, just raided the fridge.
I was going to go for another walk this evening - was out for two hours last night walking up a mile long hill then around and about - I was so out of breath but the view was awesome! OK I've seen it before, but it is rather lovely looking at the Mourne Mountains, Carlingford Lough and the Irish Sea from where I was. This evening though I am too tired to walk and so decided that the house was too much of a tip and that it needed more of my attention than the hills did. I've got an absolutely sparkling kitchen now, including a freshly mopped floor.
If time permits (ie if I can tear myself off MSE) I'll give my bedroom a bit of a spruce up. I've been using it as a bedroom/office - and yes, I've got two spare bedrooms with nothing in them.... It's really time I moved my books, desk, computer etc etc into a spare room - but not tonight, just a little light dusting and tidying will suffice before I snuggle up with Bill Bryson. Or rather with one of his books, not actually him, ahem...0
