  • Morning all!

Stuffed with cold here too - not nearly as poorly as you though Ancasta - and suffering from dd being up at 4 this morning. Wish she'd sleep through the night REGULARLY instead of three nights out of four. Birthdays galore this week - SIL today, DH tomorrow, so we're baking again today. Am hoping the special edible gold dust will come this morning so I can ice DH's cake (which I haven't yet made!)

Am hoping to make yoghurt tomorrow. I've had two tries before and just can't get it to work properly - I think I don't have the milk at the right temp to start with. Also going to Argos today to pick up the slow cooker - DH was convinced by all your arguments! :T

Hello all. First job is to put a loaf in using rapid bake, cos I forgot to put it in for overnight baking and now we've got no bread at all. Got to do a bit of bookwork for work, then get DD off to holiday playgroup at the local church. DS is only 3 and can't go yet so I'm going to entertain? him by getting him to help me make beetroot and chocolate cake or grape nut cookies. Have cicken in fridge so will be having that for tea, don't know whether to do a roast or something a bit more exotic, will see how the day pans out. After all that will be going to work for a rest at 5.45pm. Have a good day y'all.

Can I ask how you are making the yogurt? I might be able to help
  • Hey AT

I boil up the milk, then let it cool down, then mix it with the pot of yog. and pour into the jars. It's a yogurella ... got it from Ebay and I'm a bit suspicious that it doesn't work and THAT's how I got a bargain. I could be wrong, though. Might just be that I can't work it out yet.

    Any tips GRATEFULLY received.

  • I think that you are using to much starter, you only need around 2 teapoons for a full 1 pint or so, if the machine is heating up then it'll be OK.

    morning

gosh - everyone sounds busy busy busy!

I spent last night watching TV while cleaning up and tifying at the same time. It took double the amount of time as I kept rushing back through to try and keep up with what was happening :rotfl:

I did manage to make a huge chocolate cake though, which I've brought into work. I think I left it in a little too long, but it was a bigger volume of mixture than I normally make, so a little trial and error is to be expected :D I am sure they (my work colleague guinea pigs) won't mind!

So today I am going to tackle the dreaded walk in closet - I'm going to seperate out what's for ebay (going to set up an account and give it a go), what's for bin and what's staying and give the whole thing a clean and a tidy.

Also plan to do the ironing ;)

Dinner tonight will be a special creation I think.....

Right - lunch in the fridge upstairs, cake awaiting eleven am (elevenses!) and the pile of work beside me is growing so I had better dash off. Only 6 weeks and 2 days left of work yipee.................................

Can someone give me a swift kick. I had all sorts of plans for today, was going to make a pie for tea tonight and some chocolate chip muffins but I've just discovered that my scales have gone into storage so any baking is out. I've also packed my breadmaker recipe book too.

So I've made the beds, cleaned the insides of the dishwasher and washing machine. Put some washing out to dry and have now lost all impetus. I do need to sort out the clothes the kids have grown out of, tidy their room and clean out my computer desk but can't seem to get moving now.

If you could find recipes that are all in cups you could use pretty much any mug that you have in the house because the proportions of ingredients rather than their actual weights is all that matters.

To get close - a standard sort of coffee mug filled to within about half an inch of the top would be about one proper cup. Ish :)
