Ive started to research companies that hire tea chests and supply the huge carboard boaxes and tape and stuff to do large scale moves. My local supermarkets dont have boxes to give away as i tried the last time and Dad had to steal some from work.... which wasnt ideal as we had to take what he could get at the bozes were tiny.

Plan on having chicken, rice and veg for tea tonight followed up by some ice cream that OH forgot about in the deep freeze *evil laugh*

    hi all,

had a pretty rubbish time so far today...called social services disability team - again- trying to get some respite care for my son..been on the list since last july and they still havent found anyone to do it (they did promise it would all be sorted by summer holidays) but was told nope no luck so far! got a bit upset as i am calling them all the time and not getting anywhere. feeling a bit sorry for myself as havent had a day off (so to speak) since april 03. i know most people dont get a day off with kids but i am single parent and have no help from either my babies dad and family or my family. sorry to rant. feel better now :D

baked some everyday biscuits, washing on ariers as piddling down. loaf in breadmaker and some pork chops and sausages in a BBQ sauce in slow cooker and jacket tatties in oven for dinner tonight. soooooo glad i got a yoghurt maker the kids love a decent sized portion of yoghurt instead of those piddly fromage frais! i just had some with a crumbled flapjack! scrummy! :D

    Hi,

    Got washing out.

Used up veges & salad that were nearing the end of life to make crudite to dip in a Baked Camembert (well it is cheaper here than in England) – really yummy, hadn’t tried it before. With fresh baguette made a treaty lunch before OH flew off to work for the week.

Remains of crudite being chopped up, added to leftover rice to make a rice salad tonight, so at least that’s old style.

Slug/snail trails decreasing in number in the cellar, and one corpse this morning so the pellets are eventually working. Lawnmower went on strike the first time we tried to use it, so watching the grass grow now!! One of their container plants in the garden has been infested with hard shelled scaley type bugs, found some stuff in the shed which I hope is the right stuff (school French doesn’t cover pesticide instructions)!! I just want my own house again now!!

Anacasta – we went into self store, most of the self-store places sell boxes, and also multi-buy sets of mixed sizes suitable for 2 bed or 3 bed places, not sure if they’ll work out dearer than hiring, but with buying at least some there’s not such a mad panic to unpack them to get your deposits back. Big Yellow & Access are 2 of the places we used, they’re also open at weekends & quite late at night for when you run out of packing materials & boxes mid-pack!! :o We had thought we were organised this time!!

Ms_london – just saw the bit about projected debt free day, congratulations, you’re nearly there, it must feel brilliant that it’s so close now. :T

DS2’s friends arrive for a week tomorrow, so got to get into cleaning mode, but MSE is addictive.

Edit 14:04 remains of crudite just vanished inside DS2!! :o So reassessing menu - at least raw salad & vegetables are healthy!!
  • Welcome to OS ms_london! How's the new job going?

Made a bit of a pathetic packed lunch today (bag of fruit) but was saved by a colleague whose Auntie sent us all a big box of veggie samosas and bhajis. Yum! Have to say the office smells a bit pungent though!

Have just been on a mooch around the charity shops and bought this month's issue of Good Housekeeping for 20p. I think it's normally about £3 - is that a bargain or what!

Anyway, better get back to work...

    Afternoon All!

Had a very lazy morning so far, woke up to the cat chewing my elbow and trying to fight my sleeping hand, amusing, but certainly a good alarm clock. Got two packs of freebie coffee pods this morning, but one was decaf (yuck - why???? Caffeine is the point!!) so at least I wont have to buy coffee for a while, which is good.

Ran out of milk today so I must go shopping and get some more, avoiding landlord on the way (STILL painting!! The house doesnt take THAT long for christs sake!!) as I dont like talking to him, seems he has his fingers in many pies, and I reckon he's a bit dodgy to be honest.

Boyf had another interview letter today, so he has two this week, and one for next monday, which is good. Ive got one tomorrow, dont like the idea of the job to be honest, but I need a job so will have to take anything right now, if we are to have any hope of moving anywhere. I simply cant face having to spend our first proper xmas on our own together in this house, its too depressing for words.

Going to apply a for a few other jobs today, and call an agency and see if they have any other work right now, to get a little bit more cash together. Also have to cut boyf's hair today as he hates going to the hairdresser ( ) and I must make an appointment for myself (im not letting him cut my hair!! ), and then get back to some quilting. I dont think I have anything else to do today.... At least I hope I havent forgotten anything!

    Jo xx

Ancasta - for boxes, have a look at the A1 box company (http://www.a1box.co.uk) I have used them for a couple of house moves and found them to be very competitive and reliable. You can either purchase standard housemoving packs (e.g. pack of different sized boxes suitable to pack up a 1 bed flat) or you can pick and choose whatever you need. They do just about every size of box imaginable - including tea chests, temporary wardrobe boxes, boxes for bikes, boxes for white goods............I think you get the picture! Oh, and they also do bubble wrap, tissue paper, tape etc.
