I am feeling rather chuffed with myself today - I completed the Race for Life this morning in aid of Cancer Research in 38 minutes (kind of half running half walking!).

:j :T  Well done you!! I intended to do it this year, but ive had knee trouble recently again (at V2003, I got knocked over during chili peppers, someone stamped on my knee and dislocated it, so ive had a weak knee ever since - gotta do more physio before I can start running again), but Im going to do it next year!
Definately well done - and hope you enjoy your salmon, very healthy!!
As for baby things - any good at knitting or crocheting? Im making a baby blanket at the mo for a freind who is about to have a baby, and have made her some home made bath stuff for her to have some relaxation with while partner looks after newborn. Just a thought...

Look around your garden and your families to see if you can make a bouquet. Wrap with brown paper and string for a modern look. did this for ds to take for his teacher, she sent him a lovely thankyou card in return. Another idea is a voucher valid for x months for an evening of babysitting. I know that these are for the parents but will be appreciated! The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T0

Hello all, been up since 5.50 this morning! DS had a nightmare about someone bursting his balloon. Needless to say everyone else went back to sleep, but I couldn't, so been pottering about since then. Put 5 seeded bread in machine with only 4 lots of seeds, it's fantastic. Cleaned kitchen windows with vinegar and newspaper, done some overdue weeding in the garden. Sent OH to the tip. Was planning on doing some baking this after, but desperately short of ingredients, mainly lacking eggs. Managed to find a recipe for an eggless raisin, apple and carrot cake, which I must say is quite delish. Kids are bored senseless as it's rained all afternoon so their planned bike trip was cancelled - oh well another 7 weeks ahead to get that sorted. Have a good evening everyone. TTFN.0

What a cheek! You can't gp back to bed already! Harumph!
Spent most of the weekend starting to put the house back together. I'm still short of cooker, a twin cupboard, a wall and all my windows but enough things are done to allow me to make a start. I reckon it won't take me much more than a month :rolleyes:Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. My word you are all up early today.
I have just made up my first batch of white vinegar cleaner so for the first time ever I am quite looking forward to having a clean when I get home later (I'm sure the novelty will wear off!). Slow cooker is on, can't put work off any longer, I'd better get off before I'm late.
Have a good day!0 -
Ehhh i didnt go back to bed, i had to try and tame the wild bush.. aka my curly hair!
Was very reluctant to leave the house to see OH off at the train station this morning. tis weeing down!
Put a load of washing out to dry on the clothes horse in the hall this morning (its like a little oven when all the other doors are shut). Got a pile of glasses to wash as OH kindly did the plates but not the glasses and he doesnt like using the same glass for more than one drink.
Tackling the front garden might be off tonight if its still wet but i have plenty of indoor activities to do as i have been commissioned to make a few wigs and accessories by my favourite customer.
Got a big thick 2" job pack to go through before i fill in the application form for a new job. Was going to have a go at making some laundry gloop but OH reminded me that while he was working for P&G he managed to get enough washing powder to last us years (we've been using it for 2yr already).
Gonna whisk up a batch of my lovley spag bol sauce and freeze it in single portion sizes for while OH is away as i must admit i neglected the plated up serving i left in the fridge
Will post back later once i have made myself a plan for the day.0 -
Exciting morning for me - my new Panasonic breadmaker should be delivered this morning before 12! I booked a delivery slot between 7 and 12, so I have to be at home. I have so much to do, but of course here I am sitting at the computer!
Today I have to
* Take all the recycling to the centre
* Pay some cheques into the bank
* Pay my rent and post some letters
* Tidy up everywhere (we had bad news over the weekend, so nothing got done)
* Make bread!
I have today off which is why I am posting. Normally there is no time in the morning.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Good morning all from a damp and dreary Taunton! :hello:
Had a reasonably OS weekend, just chilling out, doing a bit of pre-study for my OU course which starts in October (yikes! ) and cooking a yummy roast chicken dinner yesterday with some of the chicken thighs I bought in my massive shop.
Not particularly OS today as just a usual work day, but will make a slow cooker chickcne casserole over night tonight so that it is all done and ready to heat up tomorrow for tea.
Skint now until OH is paid on Friday, so we went window shopping in town on Saturday - bought OH his fave movie on VHS for £1.49 - the Muppets Christmas Carol! proceeded to have a fairly Christmassy evening he he!
Holiday to Malta is all sorted - we just have to pay £178 on Friday when OH is paid and we are all set - woohoo! Weather may not be that warm and it may be a very quiet holiday (just what we need) but it is a break away form work :-) :j :j
Take care allKirsty, Taunton, xxx0 -
morning!
I started the day well... bought some great bargains in the reduced section in work, some organic burgers (for points plus they are yummy!) and also stocked up on stuff thats on BOGOF that i take for lunches. Got £11.84 worth of stuff for £8.31.... saving £3.53 Plus got 108 points :j
Gotta admit a big boo-boo though..£2.21 of that was bakery stuff bought specially so i could use my 50 extra points on a £2 bakery spendb voucher..... in my excitement of my reduced bargains.. i forgot to give in my voucher!
So spent £2.21 for no reason!
But did get a garlic bread and a freshly baked this morning yummy granary loaf which will both be eaten anyway.. so guess just have to use my voucher another day
Plan for the day is not very OS just going to have a quick mooch online... and have a ponder as to whether to ring later to book some driving lessons - been promising myself id start lessons again for the last 18 months.. Then pop off to bed hopefully before 11am and try and fit in 8 hours sleep before getting up having a shower and heading to work,
Day off tomorrow though so hopefully have a more O/S day then..0
