afternoon all
My relations left at some ungodly hour this morning to go to the airport, but were quite happy to let themselves out so I had a lovely roll over and back to sleep start to the daylay in until 11  which I think I needed after this week ..
anyway since then I've: done two loads of washing, made chocolate muffins and a birthday cake (still to ice it..) and had a friend over for a late lunch (and chocolate muffins). I've also wrapped up four pressies for my friend whos birthday bash it is tonight... £20 between my and another friend (inc wrapping and cards) but wrapped beautifully and sale/offer shopped so it looks really special
. She's had a bit of a month so far (she wrote off her car just over a week ago) so I'm hoping that she has a really special night tonight.
((HUGS)) to all that want them (and I'm offering the muffins about again too)
I'm trying to work out if I can make chocolate icing with just icing sugar and cocoa - any thoughts?Pre O/S: what's a vitamin? Does it begin with the letter e?Now: I'm not eating any of that pre-made rubbish...0 -
You could do.
But to be really good my trusty Be-Ro Recipe Book says melt 60g (2oz) of margarine and blend in 1 tbsp of cocoa powder before stiring in 250g (9oz) icing sugar and two tbsps of hot milk and then add 1 tsp of vanilla esssence.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Good afternoon everyone
Ancasta, bad news about the poor hamster - I remember that situation well from my childhood. You get a nice friendly hamster and it dies within the year, you get a miserable anti - social one and it nearly makes it into the Guiness book of records.
Went to see Fantastic Four today - quite good really. Bought homemade pop corn. On the back of the bag of corns it says to make sweet pop corn add three tablespoons of icing sugar to the cooked corn, put on a low heat and stir! It turned into the most molten hot sugar you could possibly imagine, and the pan took ages to clean. Still, it was tasty and I only have one burn for my trouble!
On the subject of icing sugar, I made some with icing sugar with the juice of one lemon instead of water. Yum! Nigella's idea, not mine.
Have a good evening everyone.

Sorry about Sidney Ancasta. Henhog is right - my lovely Keith - grey budgie par excellence passed away aged 7 last November (we named a star after him - I kid you not
). Now we have Derek aka "the green flash" - not a people budgie at all (unlike Keith who had problems with the fact that he wasn't human but a bird). Derek only has abandonment issues....... just don't ask.
OH has been on his driving job today and consequently I am being treated to a night outToday we have had the wsahing on twice, i have finally put away all my washing and sorted out OHs into his pile :T and i have baked a cherry cake, a lemon cake and a carrot cake. Question: Can I freeze whipping cream?
Oh and free night coming up for all :j 12 August - it's a friday so mark it on your calendars as there will be a fab meteor shower aka shooting stars. They are the persieds, er when i've read more of OHs Sky at Night mag I'll tell you more. So it's bacon butties and a flask and a drive into the wilds of cheshire for us.
Right I'm off to make myself P-R-E-T-T-Y!!!!! no sniggering at the back....But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0 -

Henhog.
She must have nicked that idea from me.I remember years ago making sponge cakes, but adding the juice and zest of an orange too, then lemon icing on top. Used to go down a real treat at work. You could do the other way round too, if ya really wanted.
We saw The Fantastic Four yesterday too. Bit of hard work as DS2 is only 3 so wasn't as captivated, and howled the place down when he banged his back on the cupholder when he bent down to retrieve something. We also took HM popcorn. Did some with plain sugar and some toffee ones - just melted a big spoon of butter, added lots of sugar and heated and stirred and heated and stirred.....etc then poured over popcorn. Keep the popcorn moving umtil it sets or you'll end up with one big lumpBagged it into separate bags and the boys were happy as Larry (altho' he wasn't invited

Hello all, and welcome to Starlorna22!
Ive done nothing again today, boyf has a hangover and the landlord has been round again today, banging this and whatnot, and traipsing round the house. Appears that there was some kid in the house too - I was not at all pleased - noisy and in the way. God knows how long it is going to take them to do the damn work, it seems they are here all the time, but everytime I go and have a nose at progress, nothing appears to have been done, except some random paint splodges on the carpet. Incompetants.
Ive finished a book I was reading anyway, which was pleasant. Watched a cookery show on beeb 2 aswell, which tought me how to cook fish properly - I never really got it before. Im really hungry now as ive eaten nothing all day, so im going to see if the 'intruders' have gone so I can finally cook in peace. Ooohhh - got some free samples of some fabrics in the post this morning, so they have already been cut up into patches for my quilt, enough for a whole panel too! Excellent!
Have a lovely evening all - I think I might rent a movie or something....

Morning all, only just though
I saved us some money last night - I cut OH's hair for the first time using the clippers we bought last week. He had a few pointers for me afterwards and apart from a very small slip when I was tidying up the edges (behind the ear so it's hardly noticeable) it looks good and saved us £4.50 at least :j
OH is going up to my parents today to fix something on their computer so I'm going to clean the floors and watch a film while they dry while he's out and DD is having a rest.
Plans for today :
[] Put shower back on wall - will do today!
[] Dishes - still not finished!
[] Clean kitchen
[] Clean Oven
[] Clean fridge/freezer
[/] Inventory of cupboards/fridge/freezer
[] Handwashing of urgents.
[] Clean floor
[] Ironing?
So what is everyone else up to today?Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0
