  • Good morning all from another sticky day in Taunton! Had our yummy Tesco value chicken and veg pie with smash and mixed veggies with gravy for tea - yummy and didnt breal the bank!

Just finalised a Tesco online shop to be delivered tomorrow, once I have bene paid. Seem to have spent a fortune but am trying to buy everything we might need for the month and do a big freezer cook session on Saturday - make chicken casserole, spag bol, pasta dishes etc to freeze. Also bought the first bits for the bread maker in a year so will trial a few loves this weekend too :-)

Not much OS for me today - just another day at work, but OH is interveiwing staff in Taunton today so we are meeting for a walk in the park at lunchtime, which I guess iq uite Old Style Courting he he!

Have a blast everyone and stay cool

off for another lovely 12 hour shift at the pub i work at in an hour or so. fun, fun, fun. the kitchen nearly kills me with temp, so i go and stand in the walk in freezer for a while usually!
  • What a week! The dearest children are on school holidays and driving me nuts already. Got the news on Monday that one of DH oldest friends has died (he was only 41) so I've spent most of the week trying to get funeral details and get the powers that be to get DH back home in time (he's a long distance driver so it takes a bit of planning for them to find him a load).
Thanks to whoever mentioned the Easiyo, I bought one, got it yesterday and it's already on for the second batch (will save me a fortune on actimel that DS1 needs). Just about to put on washing load 3 today and get the breadmaker on for the first time this week (no packups to do and it's been too hot before). Anyone know of a good toffee recipe that will keep the little darlings mouths glued shut for 5 more weeks? ;)

Just mix superglue into any basic toffee recipe you have ;)

    Morning all,

Greenlogo best of luck for your interview! Let us all know how it goes! (cos we're just as nosy as each other:D)

Blearily got out of bed this morning, went downstairs, into the kitchen and it seems that every ant in the world has descended upon us in front of the fridge. Put down Nippon, have wiped "barriers" of vinegar (seems to be working :D) around, so the ant police will be onto me in no time. Need to pop to Wilkos to get some fly killer too. Where did they suddenly come from over night? Grrr :o

Washing in the machine, still got a mountain of ironing to do. Joy.

Oooh, just remembered that it's the local market today. As I've been a full time student up until now I haven't been to the market for a year. Best go! See you folks later. :)

Handwashing is done. Took me about 30 minutes to do but ALL the washing except for towels and bedding is done :j These aren't urgent as we have enough "spares" to last until I can get a washingmachine.

Since I'm going to my mums I think DD and I will take a detour via my mums local shops. I can also pay OH's cheque into his bank account so there will be NO EXCUSE for him not to buy me a new washing machine :rotfl: If it comes to the crunch I'll get his bank card and order it myself, with his permission of course! :silenced:

I know that there is a cheap fruit shop and a homebargins there so I will pop in and have a look around. I have £20 to last me until the 28th  so I see some homemade bread this weekend and lots of bits from the freezer. I should in theory only need fruit, tomatoes, cucumber and fresh milk as needed. Everything else is in plentiful supply or we can do without for a few days. ;)

Off to the shops (must remember my PIN money to pay for the busfare!)

Nothing too OS today although one of the other Mummy's has lent me a black top for the small person's outfit for Alice in Wonderland next week which has saved me having to buy something he'll never wear again. Tonight it's Kedgeree with the free range eggs I buy off our market for half the price of Tesco. Am about to do my weekly trip to the library to stock up on the free children's story tapes and to read the paper. Yesterday saw me down in Brighton doing another exam- I rewarded myself with chips on the pier!!

    Enjoy the sunshine

Good morning all from another sticky day in Taunton!

In in Bath - exceptionally sticky day here too! There doesnt seem to be any escape either, ive tried hiding everywhere but im still too hot!
It seems a bit cooler today...thank goodness, my poor long haired cat can't find anywhere to get cool and when he does he lays flat on his back with all his tum exposed to try and get a breeze through his fur.

My girl is the same, she was asleep all morning on my bed, but now keeps panting and laying about on the floor. No escape for her either!! She doesnt seem to have figured out that sitting on the windowsill would be cooler, at least there is a little breeze there!

Apart from that, my day has been wierd, Ive done loads, but got nowhere. Done some packing though, and still have a hundred job applications to go...

Have a lovely (hopefully cool) evening all!
