Sorry things aren't going so well Rage... I hope everything works out the way you need it to.
Anacasta, that sounds like a rather fab plan- are you feeling any better yet? Power Napping rocks and Hash Browns are more or less what I like when I'm suffering
Pre O/S: what's a vitamin? Does it begin with the letter e?Now: I'm not eating any of that pre-made rubbish...0 -

Haven't had much of an "OS" week, rather a "MSE" week, although it did involve quite a lot of spending as ds-s2 gets married tomorrow - well, if you can't splash out then when can you?
Anyway, was rather proud of myself when I bought a new A5 Filofax. The cheapy ones had 2006 diaries inside them, but the raving mad expensive one - and therefore the one that I wanted - still had 2005 in it. So I asked if I could have a 2006 insert, expecting to walk away if they said no ... and they said yes! She even left the 2005 diary in so I can use it for the rest of this year too. Result.
I bought some cropped trousers from Sports World, but they were both too small. I'd admit to being too fat, but other items in the same size fitted fine. So I tootled off today, complete with labels still intact and proper receipt ... and she said they could only give a refund if the goods were damaged. I pointed out that I still had the receipt and that the labels were still intact, but she insisted. So I insisted on speaking to the manager (yes, yes, I know that technically she was right, but I wasn't going down without a fight). She went to get him, but he told her to give me the refund "just this once" ... Hah! Like I'm ever likely to go there again now. Matalan didn't care at all that I'd taken stuff back for a refund, even though I had cut the labels off their items. So it might be because of the Sports World/Soccer World rebranding that's going on at the moment.
At the hairdresser I complained that the highlights they'd put in last time hadn't lasted very long, so she asked if I'd like to use a new hair stain to disguise the, erm, grey bits on top. I could buy one for £14.95 if I liked, but it would last me for the year. She tried it out on me, and I asked if I could try a darker shade next time and let her know. She said fine, and didn't charge me any extra for staining my hair this time. It worked, by the way, and looks quite nice, even if I do say so myself.
The shopping has been bought online again, so I won't know how much that is until it comes, but I got another £10 off voucher for spending £50, courtesy of MSE, which once again more than covered the £5.99 delivery charge.
I was never this bolshy before I joined MSE, but it just goes to show that if you open your mouth, you can get things free.
I'm very happy.spendy/she/her ***DEBT-FREE DATE: 11 NOVEMBER 2022!*** Highest debt: £35k (2006) MY WINS: £3,541 CASH; £149 Specsavers voucher; free eye test; goody bag from Scottish Book Trust; tickets to Grand Designs Live; 2-year access to Feel Amazing App (worth £100); Home Improvement & Renovation Show tickets; £50 to spend on chocolate; Harlem Globetrotters tickets; Jesus Christ Superstar tickets + 2 t-shirts; Guardians of the Galaxy goody bag; Birmingham City v Barnsley FC tickets; Marillion tickets; Dancing on Ice tickets; Barnsley FC v Millwall tickets0 -

Oh christ, dont say that!! Aarrghh - scared now. Are you in an administrative type role?? Thats what im going for, two paperwork jobs. Im also applying for an in-school job, the job really does seem really interesting, and id love it to be fair. Ive already sent that one off, and just have to do the personal statements on the other 5. Does anyone else find it annoying to do paper job applications?? I love the internet, cut and paste from my CV and apply in a few mins, but paper, just... Aaaarrrrgghhh!
Ive had a good day really, I did my first mystery shopping job (£10) and bought a few bits I needed from sainsburys, using loads of manufacturers vouchers so I got my £10 shop for £3.99, an excellent bargain. I also decided to take in boyf's scratch card which he had won £2 on, and on a whim I bought two more. One just won me £25. So my entire day has given me a profit of £15. Sweet!
Still got to do the drive by's, and make dinner then im watching big bro's evil eviction, which im excited about. I hope Makosi is booted out!

Hello.
Had to go with DS2 on his pre-school trip to Camelot today, so suitable pack-ups were taken and I didn't spend anything, as ice cream was bought by friend (I had given her DS2 a carton of apple juice and a Breakaway (reduced at Tesco)) So, tired little boy and tired mummy too.
Quick tea tonight - assorted b.beans, strangled eggs (as DS1 calls them), mushrooms and cheese on toast, followed by a couple of hunks of HM fruit bread. We have guests Sat/Sun so will be indulging in lots of food and wine. Tomorrow, will do joint of beef in slow cooker and all trimmings then profiteroles for pud. Need to decide on a starter yet, and MUST remember to get joint out of freezer soon. Sunday I shall subject them to the slow cooker breakfast.:D Also need to make some more bread tonight and will try out one of the cake recipes - well, I do need to thoroughly test in in case it needs to go back
Have LOADS of housework to do this evening. Mr TM is out, so I'll have to do my shop tomorrow morning before guests arrive. Also the place is coming down with ironing, which I may do whilst NOT watching BB.
Oh, and I put my MSE car sticker on today .... not only is next door neighbour a bank manager for one of the big 4, but one of tomorrow's guests is some high flying extremely well paid employee for another large financial institution
Ah well, MSE rocks, expecially OS.0 -
I got my MSE sticker this morning.
I don't have a car but I'm in a strategic place in our street - I'm at the dead end and turning area - so everybody who lives here and everybody who visits HAS to pass my house and my frontage is right onto the road; no garden, not even a foot path in the way.
All I need now is a window
After fifteen years of living within feet of a trunk road I'm finally getting double glazing! Well I had a god day too, went to the charity shop and bought a jogsaw brand new for the quiet nights in so I dont spend money out, 2 t-shirts for the boys, they are going on a week away with DoIt4Real courtesy of MSE tips, and 2 cook books as I want to bake more, its tastes so much better than the shop bought stuff, and works out cheaper in the long run I think.
OH and I have also bought a table tennis thing from B&Q's sale again, thanks to MSE peeps.
Got the washing on, gonna bake some more and maybe weed the garden now its cooler, all that and I'm still trying to desipher everyones codes on this post, lol, DS2 DD etc etc....
Thanks for the motivation today everyone, think I'll try and do this more often0
