we were up at 7 this morning and drove back from T'Lake district.Mad rush to tidy the rented cottage last night. We managed to utilise the remaining food for the picnic en route so that was OS anyway.
Had to stop off on the way home in Asda for the new Harry Potter book so havent seen anyone since tea time as they are all reading it and nobody can discuss it till we've all done!
Cant wait to get back to HM bread,we've had to put up with yucky pappy stuff for 2 weeks as all the nice stuff was crazy tourist prices. We did get some lovely walks in though which ofcourse were free.0 -
Hello!
Not too o/s today unfortunately, Ive been doing those blasted job application forms again, and I simply dont understand why it takes me so long to do it. I have made pizza bases though for dinner, the boyf is looking in the bowl confused and wondering why they expand, and I was going to explain the yeast thing, but I dont really know how it works either, so I just said, the yeast makes it rise. And he said 'well, thats not a very good answer', and then the cat did a funny meow too , as if in agreement with him....
Oh well! Got a movie out for tonight (Hitch) which im looking forward to, and bought a lottery ticket just incase yesterdays run of money continues into today. Ill have to check in a few mins, if I disappear for a while - im choosing a country mansion where I can grow lots of food, keep chickens, and never have to go and socialise with people who annoy me ever again.
The reason I say this is one of boyf and I's mutual freind is supposed to be moving in with us, but doing the drive-bys of potential properties - he started to whinge and whine (because he is used to getting what he wants and I simply refuse to budge on location in this instance) and basically annoyed me to the point where I told boyf that it is going to be just us next year, as this is the final straw (maybe that should read final whinge??). I know he has had a lot of problems on his plate recently, but when he starts to blame us for stuff he does when he is drunk and we arent even in the same room - well - enoughs enough really. We have defended him for far too long.
Anyway - my whinge over! I think ill go pummel some pizza base some more to vent the frustration. On a positive note - I think ive found the perfect house for me and boyf - great location, good for the budget, nice decor, a garden and lots of parking. Just gotta call the agent now and say I want it! YEY!

Morning - I think
Why am I not hung over is the first thing I want to ask? I think I drank my body weight in red wine last night and as I generally don't drink, I'm surprised. We did have a HUGE meal though, which went down well - HM bread and carrot and corriander soup, 'roast' beef and all the trimmings, profiteroles, then nibbles later on. Mind you, wine always gives me insomnia so I never go into a deep sleep which is one of the reasons you get a hangover.
I even managed to put the slow cooker breakfast on before I went to bed. However, I'm still so full, I couldn't manage any. I'm sure 3 strapping blokes could polish it off though
Today? Well, after the guests have gone, I intend to do the mountain of ironing I've not managed to do so far, whilst watching the Corrie omnibus, seeing as I managed to miss most of that too (thanks kids) I must tackle the kitchentoo. Did put the first DW load on last night, but my mother would be ashamed if she saw it. She's one of these who does those jobs before she goes to bed - but then she doesn't drink at all
Must have another :coffee: and surf before I hit the kitchen.
Oh, and don't shout please, there will be sore heads wandering around here later, I'm sure0 -

Hello!
Early one for me too this morning, went to bed at 4am, as I didnt really feel tired, and just woke up now. I think I might go back to be bed to be honest, but I have so much to do I could really do with just getting on. Ill have a tea to think it over...
PLans for the day include going out into town to get a few bits, finish the job apps once and for all and post them, and then start researching a few bits for interview next week. If I have any time left, ill do some cooking. Maybe home made pasta for dinner or something, and I will get round to baking at some point. I still want to make a bakewell tart, and a loaf of bread.
Actually, If I premade a loaf and let it rise, could I freeze it to bake later?? That could satisfy the urge to bake, but I dont actually need a fresh loaf at the mo....
Answers on a postcard please.....

Dough works best if frozen after the first rise. Then later defrost and allow to double in size. If you've already let it rise twice you can still risk it. If it doesn't rise properly when defrosted it can still be used as a pretty fair pizza dough.
I don't get many failed loaves these days - and I check the rise before cooking; so anything that doesn't look right gets used for pizza.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Morning all!
I haven't posted for a while as I was in hospital for a few days as I had agonising stomach pains and have been diagnosed with gallstones. However I am very lucky as I have an operation date for my gall bladder to be removed and it's only next Monday the 25th which I'm so pleased about, the NHS has come up trumps for me. Until then I have to follow a low fat diet which is hard when you're a chocoholic...
Anyway I feel fine now and got up pretty early as I am dog-sitting my mums dog while she's on holiday and he scratches at the kitchen door when nature calls, and it often seems to call 1st thing in the morning, even Sundays!
In a minute I have to hoover and dust all over the house as we have OH's family coming for a BBQ, I have some chicken breasts (that I got reduced in Sainsburys yesterday at £1.99 down from £5.99) marinating in olive oil and lemon juice and I will make some home made potato salad and pasta salad.
Can also pick the rocket salad grown in the garden to have with BBQ.
Will also take the dog for a little walk just around the close, poor thing can't walk for more than a couple of minutes as he has bad arthritis in back legs and can collapse on the floor.
Yesterday I was at my mum's house as I wanted to surprise her with a new bathroom floor as her old one was really tatty and the corners had all turned up. I bought it just before she went away and had it fitted yesterday, I also re-painted the wood in there and cleaned the skirting boards so she will get a nice surprise when she gets home on Wednesday
Have a great day all and enjoy the sunshine!
