after spending more or less the entirety of yesterday reading Harry Potter (it's good and oh so very sad...) I'm back O/Sing with a vengance
I've swept and dusted the front room and hall.
I've made: Banana Loaf, Chocolate Muffins (which are beyond scrummy..) and I've a viccy sponge just finishing off in the oven.
Then I'm onto savouries... Pasta for lunches next week; real tomatoes, pine nuts and spring onion with a dod of pesto for extra num (and all things that need used up..) I'll make a huge batch then freeze all but one of them.
I'm also having fish cakes and oven chips for tea cos the oven's on...
Washing waiting to go on (so the spin cycle doesn't upset the cakes..) and the bin to be sorted and then I'm collapsing in a heap.
(((bigs hugs))) to all those that need them today.Pre O/S: what's a vitamin? Does it begin with the letter e?Now: I'm not eating any of that pre-made rubbish...0 -

it's been really hot here today when i went out in car this afternoon, it was 29 f...phew i think we need a storm to clear the air.

:hello: morning campers :hello:
I have tried to work and old style angle around this but I can't.
I'm just going to have to shamlessly brag -
My son won a silver medal for rowing (mens coxless 4's) at the National Championships at the National Watersports Centre in Nottingham yesterday...and I'm so proud
There - I've done it now.
Back to old style - we took a picnic, squash & water, etc but not enough and ended up paying £6.00 for 4 bottles of squash out of a machine, I didn't know that they cost that much! I'm really out of touch - but it was VERY chilled and it was almost worth the money just to have an icy drink, the weather was (to us sun whimps) dreadful
Today is an ebay packing day, housework day and catch-up on neglected jobs day0 -
Congratulations to your son. You have every reason to be proud.
We are off today to the western isles where they've never heard of sun!:p
We are having a bungalow built so we are keeping an eye on progress.
Our stop will be in Fort William for lunch then off to Skye to catch the ferry across to Harris and then motor up to Stornoway. We are looking forward to it.
I was up last week but I flew from Glasgow.
The weather forecast is not too good!:eek:0 -
Morning apprentice tycoon :hello: morning everyone :hello:

Ta ta for now :wave:0 -
BIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGG Congrats to your son!
Up super early today to see OH off at the train station. At work now as i only work about 5 mins walk from the station. Will spend the day looking for a new job within the company as i *really* hate mine.
After work it will be a "attack the house with cleaning while OH is away " week so im going to do it one room at a time, living room is first. Im dreading tidying the spare room as im using it as a work room for my hairdressing business and its packed floor to ceiling with bags off different hair and lots of polystyrene heads. eeeek.
Packed lunch and harry potter book for lunch to stop me the temptation of going to the shops.
OH gave me £20 pocket money for the week to cover if i have to get a taxi back from the metro station as i dont like walking in the dark. hes so sweet.
On a plus note.... me and OH are back to being happy, were still in love and will be trying for a baby once we move into our new house. We need 3 months pay slips so on the 25th of September we can seriously start looking again. huzzah.
Im positive, upbeat and oh so sleepy.. even costa espresso's havent perked me up.
Had a bit of a fight on the train this morning as some old man called me a "goffick" for having a pierced lip. the man was about 50. i mean me and OH were minding our own business sitting talking, both of us dressed in suits and he started saying i was a disgrace to the planet, saying the metal ball made me look even uglier than i am and that i should go and hide in the darkness with the other freaks.
You would think in this day and age of tolerance i'd be ok. Thats the first bit of bother ive had really since i had it pierced when i was 15 (7 yr ago).
Got my own back, called him a coffin dodger and slapped him when he called me a fat f*ck when i got off. he was flabbergasted.
Feel bit bad but he deserved it
Have a nice day all you beautiful, unprejudicial people :j0 -
Congratulations to AT's son, that's fantastic! Roll on the Olympics.
I wasn't able to add to the board at the weekend as I was staying with my parents and their rather antiquated PC (well, they have dial-up and it's really annoying when you're used to broadband!). Went to the garden fete in their village and spent the whole afternoon speaking to people that I hadn't seen since I was a baby - or so they thought. Bought an unread Bill Bryson book for 50p - dead chuffed at that. Managed to avoid the cake stall as all the little old ladies were busy attacking it whenever I went past and the vultures managed to take every last crumb away!
Today is a day for filling in an application form for a job and this afternoon I'm going for "interview lessons" with a local head to see where I'm going wrong/make me even better. Need to pop to Tesco too. My life is so exciting. Oh, and then there's that pile of ironing that needs attacking again - I did loads on Friday, but evidently not enough!

Congratulations to AT's son - well, what is there that's more old style than being a proud mum, I should like to know!!!??
My day is going to mostly housework after a busy weekend. We were out all day yesterday (lunch at church) and then on Saturday we were very busy.
My DH decided we would take my grandma (who is nearly 97) to Ikea. She loved it, we wheeled her round in her wheelchair - she had never seen anything like it. She liked the restaurant even better!!!!!
Afterwards he drove to London, for her to see where she used to live. As we pulled up outside her old house, a man came out of the house next door. DH asked him how long he had lived there, he said he had been there for 50 years. He remembered my grandma, and they had a long chat, and he called his wife to come out too. It really made my grandma's day!0 -
Good morning all - It's overcast and breezy here this morning - such a nice break from the heat at the weekend.
Got lots achieved yesterday in the garden - well - if you call strimming the weeds into pulp, achievment.
Had a disaster last night with my bread - followed the reciepe to the letter as per norm and it just refused to rise. Ended up with a lump of stodge that would, if painted, make an attractive door stop!! Stuck another loaf going on the timer and it came out fine - think the machine was having a blonde moment.
Up early this morning (mainly because of the bread machine going beep and waking me up) and packed everyone off to work and school - had a quick whip round with a duster and the hoover and have washed the kitchen floor. Working this afternoon so will try and get some baking done this morning for the rest of the week.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0
