Anyone else ever feel like this?
I do very much...in central london too and as that song goes ''london never sleeps, it just sucks the life out of me, and the money from my pocket''
My main problem is my bf, who has all the best intentions but can't resist havingl lunch wherever everyone else in the office is going, and the after work pint, that turns ito a night out..
Only positive is in london I can shop around and there is so much competition between retailers that things are often much cheaper than elsewhere in the countryMembre Of Teh Misspleing Culb0 -

I agree. Although I don't work in London and only visit occasionally, I can sympathise with the being surrounded by all sorts of temptations and everyone else seemingly having more money than you.
I'm not working at the moment, but looking desperately for a job. For the past year I've been a student, so not living on very much - and my boyfriend has been supporting me. However, our friends all seem to have so much more - takeaways, nice meals out, nice holidays, lovely clothes. I gave one friend a "sale" catalogue of clothes as I didn't even want to depress myself. And the Tesco money off vouchers are sitting unused on the side in the kitchen as I can't even afford Tesco clothes!
Before I jacked in my job to become a teaching student, I would think nothing of popping into town because I felt "down" so bought some clothes to cheer me up. Another big passion of mine is books - that I would read and then pass on to someone else. At least I've now made myself familiar with the local library and the facilities that it offers!
So, nabowla, you're definitely not the only one................. but at least you're sensible and probably wear all the clothes that you own. These people that we both know and see buying whatever they like - do they actually get pleasure out of the really expensive clothes that they'll never wear?Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
my flatmates , who constantly tell us how broke they are and are trying to save only shop at our m&s local, they say its the convenience, and that shopping in london is too much like hard work!...i always feel bad that we have our reduced bargains in the freezer, fruit and veg from the market in the fridge and nothing much besides..even and m&s sandwich is too expensive for me to justify!Membre Of Teh Misspleing Culb0

Everybody has off days. It wouldn't be normal not to. I had a good moan in The Arms myself a couple of weeks ago. Here. Being down happens. Picking yourself up again can be the tough bit - but there are plenty of folks here on MSE who've been through the mill and are more than happy to lend a hand and a kind word to set you right again.

Beginning to feel a bit better now, thanks to everyone's kind posts. Squeaky's right - the hardest part is picking myself up again. I'm still a relative newcomer to the OS lifestyle and I'm really, really tempted to resume my old 'pick me up' habits - i.e. a good spending spree in the shops. It's a complete mystery as to why I used to/still feel that spending money will cheer me up when the reason I'm miserable in the first place is because I haven't got any money. Go figure!!
Anyway, back to OS Monday. What do people have planned for this evening?0 -

I'm having a pork stir fry with noodles. Pork from our local butcher, veggies from OH's staff shop, noodles from Netto!
This will be accompanied by watching EastEnders as for some reason I haven't watched it for a couple of weeks.
PS Feel really guilty as the plain chocolate that I bought to make a chocolate beetroot cake has erm, suddenly disappeared. i think the best pick me up to resist the spending urge is to lock yourself in the bathroom with a face mask, hair wrap, good book or magazine, and a portable radio..
turn it up and stay there until you feel totally pampered!
failing that..root around your drawers/cupboards/attic, i have delighted myself coming across clothes i had forgotten about..feels like shopping...Membre Of Teh Misspleing Culb0 -
I am making home made turkey burgers with salad and home made bread for tea.
I agree that a "pampering session" with stuff that you already have in the house and a raid on your wardrobe to pair different tops etc with skirts and trousers can make you feel much better and virtuous as well!"This site is addictive!"
