i much prefer the hand-turning of an old machine - i have one of these (in fact I have 3 but i digress) and of course my mum's which was converted to electric in the 50s/60s. now that is just a machine that has as it's sole point of being built to frighten people trying to sew on it by taking off at the speed of michael schumacher.,...... of course mum mastered it and couldn't understand why i was scared to death of it - vroom vroom!!! :D
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

I actually gave away my electric sewing machine about 6 months ago ... I spent more time trying to get the tension right, fighting the knots it created and having to sort out the jams in the fabric than actually sewing! I bought it new 25 years ago and I'm more excited about my £10 bargain today!
Enjoying an MSE OS life :D

Got back home from house sitting for my parents today. Quite a fruitful day as they bought me a 1lb of local sausages and gave me some potatoes from their next door neighbour. Not loads, but they'll do us for a few meals.

I've also done a menu plan for this week. I've never done one before, but it's surprisingly easy. I never realised how many meals I can cook AND what I've got to use up in the cupboard. All I really need now are fruit and veg and a little bit of meat.

Tonight we're using up some things that we've had lying around for ages - gin and tonic! :D Mmmmm. I'd forgotten how good that stuff is! :D

Washing machine is on, but it'll be going flat out tomorrow. :( Being away for a week and OH not remembering how to wash clothes (he's normally quite good!) means that I have a little bit to do tomorrow! Oh well.

Had a very bad night, was making tea at 1.15am, so did not get out of bed until after 10a.m.

Decided to barrow in some more of the gravel my husband found dumped yesterday, we now have a gravelled hardstanding for our caravan.... boom boom, looking at the rest of the garden think we might get some more tomorrow and gravel the lot!!!

Tuna mayonnaise and salad pittas for lunch follwed by pears...... cooked rhubarb from the garden for a crumble and prepared the crumble mix and also the veg and stuffing for supper, then watched the afternoons events on TV...... cooked supper, oven roasted pork chops with apricot stuffing, new spuds, carrots and cauliflower followed by the aforementioned crumble, put a load of towels in the washer to do overnight, watched a bit more TV and decided that I need a shower and a hair wash, so I am off to the shower.

    Whats happened to Queenie??????

Can I claim “old style by proxy” today - we all had a lovely time at my friends’ son’s 4th birthday party, but by the time we’d travelled back the hour or so in a pretty old style, non-air-conditioned car, didn’t have much energy to do much old style ourselves! Good night and take care, all.

Good morning all. OH snoring like a pig, so thought I might as well get up and do something. Just waiting for Polti iron to warm up so popped on here for a couple of minutes, need to get some school clothes ironed but it was just too hot last night. Bread is in machine and due to be finished about 7.30, there's a load of washing to hang out later when I'm dressed a bit more decently! Hoping to hire a VW camper one weekend some we're planning on taking a run over later to check them out. Have to go and do some work now, y'all have a good day.

    Morning soba, morning all

DS1 just packed off to school in regulation uniform and sunblock :) Another lovely day - I could do to get some gardening done but it's off to the parents later for cleaning purposes :( Not that I haven't enough to do here as we were all outside all weekend.

Will make some wholemeal rolls tonight - DS1's school trip tomorrow and lunch has to be taken in a carrier bag. They might stand up better to a bit of bashing :) Managed to get Mr TM to agree that he'd like a decent breadmaker too, so will be deciding on which one soon.

Other than that - need to do the ironing tonight. Was a bit late to do anything other than today's clothes last night, so even if it's 100 deg, tonight it must be :( Need to do some shopping today, although saving most of it for Aldi's tomorrow. I think tea will be chicken salad and then strawberries.

Ok, off to start the cleaning - after I've finished my brew and had a 10 min surf on here, of course :D

    Morning everyone.

I have got to do some SERIOUS housework this morning. What with the car boot, and the heat yesterday, the house looks as they a hurricane has whipped through. I have my D2yo who hasn't stopped complaining since she got up, and a OH plaguing me to phone round for car parts. I thought being a housewife was going to be easy. Only kidding, it's the hardest job I've ever done.
Breads nearly finished in the breadmaker cos I set the timer incorrectly, and I'm planning on a bit of bangers and mash for tea, as I don't think i've got time to make anything else today.

Off to make a pot of fresh coffee and put some more washing out.
    Have a good day everyone

Morning all, well it's actually night here,

I had a morning in the house today. The usual things like vacuming etc. After lunch I did the groceries & then went downstairs to trim a tree in the front yard that the postie is complaining about. It's blocking my letter box.

I put on a leg of pork in the crock pot this morning which I got some advice from you lot last night. Turned out great and we all enjoyed it. I'm just having a bit of a surf now, then go and have a browse through a book and hit the sack. Hope you all have a nice Monday. Take care

PS. It' s freezing here. :p
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)
