Hi Lillibet,
I have a recipe for Stilton and Walnut crunchies from Good Food mag, Christmas prezzie article, I have made this quite a few times so I can recommend it
8 oz plain flour
4 oz butter cut into small pieces
5 oz stilton
3 oz broken walnut pieces
2 egg yolks
beaten egg to glaze and coarse salt for sprinkling.
process the flour and butter till fine breadcrumbs
crumble in 4oz of the stilton and 2 oz of the walnuts
whizz VERY briefly to mix in
add the egg yolks and whizz briefly again
heat the oven to 180c/ gas 4 /fan 160c
grease 2 oven sheets
roll out to 1/4" and stamp out circles
arrange on sheets, brush with egg, sprinkle over a little coarse salt, cheese and walnuts
bake 15 -20 mins...freezes well0 -
Good morning all from an overcast but fresh Taunton! I always read the daily OS threads but, as I work full time, never feel like I have anything important to post in them. Today I have just decided to bite the bullet and join in! :hello:
Okay so as I say I work full time (8.00 - 4.30 as a statistics analyst for a severe mental illness charity), but I do like to do some OS stuff when I get home. Last night, overnight, I made enough sausage casserole for 4 portions - so 2 will be eaten tonight with new potatoes, brocolli and cauliflower by me and OH, and the rest will be frozen for later in the month. OH and I are in a bit of a tight spot financially at the moment ( ), until I am paid on 15th July, so will be making do with whatever is in the freezer, cupboards and fridge were possible. Thanfully, I always seem to have a very weel stocked freezer so shouldnt be a hassle.
I managed to do a bit of study last night - am starting an OU statistics course in october and need to brush up on my GCSE/A Level maths before I start it!
Other than working today, I need to shop for some veggies and milk at lunchtime, got a load of washing to do when I get in as well as cleaning the kitchen floor. Also want to do some more study but we will see because I could do with 30 mins on the step machine to compensate for the number of points in my casserole (I am doing Weight Watchers)
Anyway thats enough waffle from me - look forward to chatting with you all!Kirsty, Taunton, xxx0 -
Woke up to the smell of fresh bread - got 11 year old ready for her 2nd induction day at Grammar School - had fashion parade in uniform before she set off.
Made 3 quiches, 2 Homity pies and 2 apple pies yesterday - may have enough left for today's tea. (forget bake one and freeze one in this house)
Pile of ironing is now taller than me and it shows no sign of learning to do itself!
May make chicken burgers from scratch and have hospital appointment tonight .
Spent yesterday morning hand sewing darts in daughters school dress so it fitted better - so of course today she is in trousers!"This site is addictive!"

Morning.
Im really tired - Instead of baking yesterday, I went and gave blood, so am feeling pleased with myself, but it also really tired me out!!
I wanted to stay in bed this morning, but I have to go to uni and see the head of department about the failed class, so im not looking forward to that, but she is very nice, so hopefully it wont be too bad.
Aside from that, when I get back, I have lots of cleaning to do - then ill do some baking, and maybe look for more jobs..... It takes so long!!
Have a lovely day all, must dash, the bath is running.......

Morning All,
Well I spent a small (unplanned ) fortune last night at Tesco's so I'm spending this morning baking with DD and cooking for the freezer to try and make the food stretch longer than a week.
I'm also trying to catch up with the washing as both DD and DS had stomach bug over the weekend which resulted in emergency washing of duvets and car seat covers - yuk:eek:
Kippsy - sounds like you'll have lovely new bedrooms
Hope it's a good day for you all x0 -
Got inspired and have a massive soup in the slow cooker and liver defrosting ready for tomorrow.
Decided to "butter up" OH as he loves anything in slow cooker!"This site is addictive!"

My OH is exactly the same Elona - he doesnt eat anything spicy or hot, nothing with rice and isnt keen on pasta - but he will eat casseroles and stews every day of the week if I let him!Kirsty, Taunton, xxx0
