  • Hiya Pooky - any chance of a recipe for your savoury mince? I am always looking for new recipes to do in the slow cooker (rely on sausage casserole, chicken csasseroe etc backets from Colemans at the mo - bit of a slow cooker virgin), and alwfays have a pack or three of beef mince in the freezer.

    Thanks so much!

    Morning all

Not a good start to the day for me, I fell asleep on the sofa last night and woke up this morning unable to move my neck, it's loosening up a bit now but add that to my arthritis kicking in with a vengeance because of the weather and it's not a good combination.

I'm trying to run down the contents of my 20 cubic foot freezer because I know we're not going to be able to take it with us but I still have some shopping to do. The ex hubby is coming tonight to finish plastering the utility room. We just have the outside walls to paint now (front and back) and the house is done. So I'm praying for a day without rain :(

I can't wait to get my kitchen back without it being cluttered up with tools and paint!!

Hiya -- I basically browned the mince and an onion in the frying pan and then transferred it all to the slow cooker.....added chopped potatos, carrots, courgettes, celery, a tin of beans, a good handfull of breadcrumbs, a squirt of tomato puree, some beef stock from the freezer, the left over bit of a jar of passata and some mixed herbs for luck......made sure there was a plenty of liquid so that it bubbled away nicely for a few hours. Left it to cool over night and it's got a nice consistance to spread in some pie cases later. The breadcrumbs and beans really bulked it out - there's a surprising amount there....I kept having to have a taste last night when i went in to stir it -- was so tasty.

Well we're back and DD is in the most foul mood ever  I'm not so happy because of her behaviour either now. Just about to phone my mum to see if she knows anywhere I can get some blue tracksuit bottoms for DD. The uniform is a nightmare! Asda only stock the poloshirts (2 for £2 so I've already bought 2 packs) but I can't find the tracksuit bottoms as they all seem to be black or navy. Trust the school to go with blue! Last resort will be paying £8 each for the pants. But I'm already planning on turning DD's current sweatshirt into a pumpbag for her. I'm not paying out for one of those when she doesn't really need one yet as it's not compulsary until she is in proper school classes! Now I understand why my mum dreaded she summer holidays and buying the school uniform!

Decided that I'd have a lie-in this morning, so I decided to set my alarm for 8am. One of my friends actually phoned me at 7.45am! Grrrrrrr. Just as I was snoozing nicely.

Had a mixture of strawbs, raspberries and grapes for breakfast. Very yummy. Then went for a coffee with my gran (after putting a load of washing in). She's going slowly potty and it's quite upsetting to see. She asked me 3 times where my job is (haven't got one, but I'm looking!), where I'm getting my wedding dress from, who my bridesmaids are going to be, when my brother is getting back from his travels...........

Took the dog for a walk, put a the washing on the line and I'm now contemplating my salad that I'll have for lunch! Hopefully it'll be as yummy as yesterday.

Need to sort out some stuff for a car boot sale this afternoon and carry on reading my latest Dan Brown book (Angels and Demons), which needs to be finished before the latest Harry Potter is out! :D

    Have a good day everyone.

Having a real Ol'Style kind of a day. Washing all dried (we've been so lucky with the weather here this week!), bread baked, honey and mustard sausages cooked ready for a help yourself tea. Trifle half assembled in a fridge you couldn't get a toe nail in cos it's so jammed with tesco bogofs. Even got all £7.80 worth of coupons through the checkout and treated Mrs MATH and Mother MATH to a bunch of flowers with the money saved. The Trifle's calling do off to whip cream and scatter flaked almonds.

I'm confused!!!!! I've just sat and tried to sort out my money (I took the housekeeping with me to pay for the unifrom this morning as it was the only cash I had) and according to my calculations I'm £6.10 down  I know that I was going to be £10 short in the housekeeping for the month but I was planning on getting that out of the machine later in the month. If it was a few pence down I wouldn't be worried too much, but £6 is alot of money when using cash and it's nearly half you're weekly budget!

Plus I forgot to factor in the purchase of school uniform in this months costs so I need to add the cost of that to my budget for this month (£12.50 so far and I haven't got any trousers for her yet!) Can anyone tell I'm a first time mum? :rotfl:

Having got up a little earlier than usual, managed to get most of the usual daily lunchtime bits and bats under my belt before work, so had a "free" lunchtime. Even lunch didn't need preparing - DH had saved me a portion of his scrummy chicken salad from last night!

Inspried by foreverskint - I made a batch of everyday biscuit dough, and I'm looking forward to sampling the results later. Didn't even flinch when I realised there was no SRF in the cupboard, immediately thought, someone's bound to have posted plain flour: baking powder ratios on OS!

And, to top it all, hubby didn't laugh too much at me when just before he left this morning I suggested that there may be an old rubber glove in the cupboard from which he could cut an elastic band from!

Have a great pm, all, I'm just about to immerse myself in bank statements at work!
