moggins - (((hugs)))
lillibet - I must laugh - things started to happen re littlest-o's arrival 8 hours after I had left the office to begin Mat Leave - oh, there was SO MUCH I was going to get done in that 3 weeks! Sleeping, mainly! Hope you are taking lots of rest!
Work for me too today: got a chicken pasta salad planned for tea c/o roast yesterday. Must do a quick scout of the supplies at l/time, and write my half of the shopping list, ready for DH to do his quick Tesco run this evening, whilst I catch up with the ironing.0 -

Ooooh speak for yourself sweetie !!But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0 -
morning.
Congratulations on being on maternity leave Lillibet!
going to join troo and loadsabob with the handwashing bonanza tonight.
The weekend has been AMAZING. Coldplay were more fantastic than I ever could have hoped for (as was the young man that accompanied me :rotfl: )
Had a live8 concert party at a friends on Saturday - very OS as we all brought a plate of food and a bottle of wine each (mine was fairtrade from the Co-op) to keep costs down.
Sunday was a friends birthday luncheon party and then I spent the evening sleeping. phew!
I was concerned about coming to work today though with all this G8 stuff happening. We have to dress casually and keep all the windows, doors and blinds shut, so currently sweltering. The Anti-Capitalists and Anarchists are demonstrating around the corner from 12noon onwards. Think I'll eat my lunch under my desk, just in case......
At least that's old style today - I made sure that I had a packed lunch with me lol. It's roasted veggies (red pepper, onion and aubergine) with an onion bagel. Yum.r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
Lillibet, you are so lucky to be starting mat. leave - I remember those pre baby maternity leave days well - make the most of them (afternoon cinema trips, daytime TV etc) because when baby arrives things really do change! I have already saved money this morning from the comfort of my computer - followed link from this site and got contact lenses much cheaper from Tesco (know glasses are probably more Old Style but look at Claire from Corro!
)
Also got Child Tax Credit things back. Only £11 a month but better than nothing, and some backdated. So, pin money saving looking good already this month. Lots to do today because of 'slight' hangover yesterday!
Supper tonight is Mini toad in the Hole (using left over sausages ) for the Little People, pie from the freezer for us.0 -
Lillibet, you get those feet up because when that baby arrives you won't sit down for weeks!!
Mind you, I don't have room to talk, dh was not amused when he came home to find me kneeling on the worktop painting the kitchen cupboards at 8 months gone
Coffee morning was okay, I was very annoyed with the headmistress assuming that kids packed lunches were comprised of cheestrings and supermarket yoghurts with dippy things!! They had no refridgeration facilities for packed lunches and as my daughter only eats chicken, rice and pasta I could see a regular case of food poisoning arising in my house. Headmistress rapidly backed down and has promised a place in the school fridge for my daughters lunch!!
Am I really that much of a rarity that she automatically assumes that packed lunches will consist of processed supermarket rubbish?Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Lillibet - an excuse to log onto Old Style when ever you like! Get little spud into the proper ways of the world!
I've done not very much today. Took the dog down to see my gran - who happened to be out. Decided that we'd go for a long walk elsewhere when the heavens opened, so I decided we could leave it until after lunch - and when I've managed to locate my waterproofs! Dog doesn't seem too concerned at the moment as she's sleeping.
I'm also trying to write a menu plan for next week when I get back home. I've been copying down some of my mum's recipes, which are numerous and yummy. Also got to sort out loads of books for the church garden fete as they have a book stall. Better remember not to buy back any of my own books when it's on!
Contemplating what to have on my salad for lunch today?

Well done Moggins! Glad you made your point. How horrible to assume children would have no decent food to keep fresh and cool. I'm glad you got a result!0 -
Afternoon all, working today but little person is currently asleep so thought I'd have a quick 10 mins on here before the riot that is lunchtime!! Already managed to do half an hours ironing too -- this working from home lark does have its compensations!
Got a wholemeal loaf in the machine and my new slow cooker arrived this morning!!!!!! :j :j :j I got some mince out earlier to make some "minced beef, onion and potato" mix up for pasties, so will brown the mince and give it a try in the slow cooker.
It's been raining all morning so I enlisted the help of all the kids here today (another childminder came to play too) to help load the washing onto airers..they had great fun - great to turn things like that into games, teach 'em young!"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W.
