AArrgghh! Carpet fitter was supposed to be coming after 10am but came at 8.45! (This is very unusual for me because I usually have to wait around for things like this!) I didnt hear the doorbell at first because I had the hairdryer on and hair was still dripping.
DD1 was still asleep in bed, so had to wake her up, but the carpet fitter was not happy because he was in a rush, also the man in the shop said we could leave the wardrobe and the bed in the room. Poor carpet fitter struggled to move the wardrobe with not much help from me. He phoned the man in the shop and shouted at him, and I feel very stressed. The carpet looks lovely, DD1 very pleased, but her mom needs a cup of tea and a browse on the net in order to calm down!
Thanks for the tips on cooking the salmon, I'll let you know how it turns out!0 -
It feels like lots of us old stylers are/ have been poorly at the moment in some way or other, not good!
I made the stew in the slow cooker as suggested by Squeaky yesterday and it came out well, thanks. There's nothing I hate more than letting fresh fruit and veg go off and be wasted.
It's soooo frustrating not being able to do anything around the house, I rarely watch TV and am a do-er sort of person so am getting quite fed up. But I am trying to be organised and have bought a few Xmas presents on the Avon website, I might as well make use of this free time somehow!
I might try to do the washing up in a little while if I feel up to it.
Have a good day all, avoid the torrential rain we're supposed to be getting but fortunately hasn't reached Suffolk yet.

madagascar fans - let me know if it's good. I'm thinking of treating my little sister when she comes to stay next weekend, but she'd 14, so let me nkow if it might be too young for her. Thanks
Well, the huge chocolate cake from yesterday was demolished rather too quickly by my work colleagues. good sign though as I suppose it means I can bake successfully! Must make some more things over the weekend. We are in the middle of a bus strike, and no buses at all on Saturday or Sunday, so Have to find ways of keeping busy that don't require too much travel/distance!
Tonight I going golfing with a friend but the house is sparkly, the ironing all done so I am happy to be out and about and not one feeling of guilt
Just done budgets again. getting better, but this new uni course means I am going to have to go seek advice on another board I think. How on earth did I think I was going to survive without a salary  !
have a good day everyone :wave:r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
Huge hugs to everyone who is feeling poorly today.
I started off with a lovely lie in (the first one of the holiday) thanks to Nicki I headed back over to OrganisedHome.com and printed off my organiser sheets last night. There is very little housework to do and I've already made the beds and got washing out to dry on the radiators.
I still can't believe my house is so clean with the children being home from school! I just have to run the hoover round now and I am done for the day. I even got to spend ample time in the bathroom this morning and my hair is freshly washed instead of scraped up in a ponytail.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Morning everyone, hope its ok just to join in the topics.
Today im going to the library to get some cook books for very beginners, ive never cooked since i was at school,im 37 by the way and ive never baught a bag of flour in my life. Then im off to poundland to see what i can buy in cooking utensils and baking trays etc, first i want a grater and a veg peeler and a large bowl i think i may need.I find it truely amazing how much some of you feed a family of 4 per week and im going to have a go at home made things, well not homemade to start with but i wont be buying my shredded carrots anymore.I have always purchased my fruit and veg from the ready washed, shredded, grated sections all in sealed little bags/tubs and can honstly say ive never used a pan for over two years(they probably have dead spiders in by now, lol) because i eat takeaways and ready meals.I even buy my cheese already sliced and my yorkshire pudding are aunt bessies and mash is mccains frozen, never peeled a pud for as long as i can remember.I can also say my kitchen equipment etc consists of 3 pans and 1 baking tray and 1 plastic tub,i dont even own a jug or frying pan as i threw everything out about 10 years ago.I know some of you will shriek in horror after reading that but at least im on the right track and trying to change my ways.Ive also stopped this week buying little bottles of water for the fridge and little cartons of juice for convenience so thats saved me at least £6 per week.Ive stopped using the tumble dryer if its nice outside ive been hanging them out.0 -

At the top of the Old Style forum listing we have a MEGA Index sticky and in the Cooking section the very first thread listed "can't cook don't cook" will, I'm sure, give you lots of help.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Heh!
Just take it one step at a time. To paraphrase the Welcome sticky - pick one or two things that you reckon you'll find easy to do and start with just those. Once they become routine - pick yourself another two.

Hi everyone,
Been busy, up early, to get everyone out except me out for the day.
Thought it was about time I put something on the Amazon & Christmas Threads, and got around to it this morning. Glad you liked the idea of using trays to stop escaping beads Moggins.
JW hope you feel a bit better by now.
Hello Squiggles, I only just joined in recently, but it's friendly here. Good luck with the cooking etc. Someone did a thread a few days ago about being a hopeless cook if you want to have a look.
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=75647
Squiggles, I think anytime is a good time to start as I think moneysaving is changing constantly, so I'm always having to change my ideas and the ways I do things. I know this is the old style thread, but there's always the cross-over with latest technology & research to make informed decisions. So I think it's actually to do with trying to pick the best of the old & new, to get what works for you & your family. I don't know if the rest agree?
Thought I'd have a quiet day home alone, as the teenagers were going out today, but they missed the bus, one back already, but the rest could appear anytime!! They'll appear at some point for lunch, will look at the fridge and see what needs using up.
Bye for now0
