  • Good morning all - raining here in Taunton too, quite cool but well needed.

Jo - so soryr to hear you still arent feeling well, I hope the doctor can help this afternoon.

I had quite an OS night last night - asked OH what he would like as a cake to take into work and his words were "a pineapple upside down cake wouldnt go unloved" he he! So, speedily made on oe fhose in the microwave - I was very good, didnt even taste it! OH says it is lovely though and took 2 large slabs to work with him for lunch and snack. Other than that, our night was pretty quiet - had fish cakes, smash, veg and parsley sauce for tea and watched Bad Girls recorded from Tuesday.

Today is work as usual - not sure what we are having for tea. trying to be really good on the diet so I might just cook OH something tasty and have something light like soup myself. Oh, the 100% wholemeal loaf form the breadmachine turned out fab - not all that tall but really dense and scrummy!

Anyway best get on - have fab days all!

    Hello all,
Im up early too as I want to try and catch up with the housework and ironing. Washing will have to be split between the tumble drier and the clothes airer in the kitchen as its raining again. DD1's new carpet is being fitted in her room today so I have to finish emptying it out before the fitter arrives.
I went to Asda yesterday, and when I got back I made a list of all our weekly staples and compared Asda prices to Sainsburys (where OH usually shops) and discovered that at least 75% of the items where cheaper at Asda, some just by 1 or 2p but some by up to 20p,BUT we do have to pay to park at Asda. I think my list may have convinced OH to give it a try though.
We have salmon for tea, which I have never cooked before. I cant decide whether to steam it or cook it in the oven, and we are having pasta with mushroom sauce and veg, (shredded courgette, broccoli and potato nuked in microwave with a knob of herb butter) I hope it ends up tasting as nice as it sounds. Ive got a recipe for peach caramel crumble for afters if I get time to make it.
Also if I get time Im making a yoghurt cake with DD's today, (BIG BIG thanks to whoever on here posted the recipe, its absolutely yummy and v simple to do) Ive got some toffee yoghurt (Ive only made it with natural yoghurt before) and chocolate chips to put in and chocolate for the top. Yum.
Im off to dry my hair and get started. Hope you feel better soon JW.

    Morning people!!!

JW - i usually find mentioning NHS direct or a drop in centre *always* guarantees me a same day appt. but it might just be my docs.

Got the long list of stuff to do today that i didnt do yesterday but i had the added bonus of receiving a huge parcel today from mothercare/bounty for mums to be with loads of nice information and trial size things so these are all getting packed away into the Baby Box for when the time comes and im laden with toiletries, wipes and nappies :)

Gotta go ring boss now to let him know i cant make it in...

    Mmmmmm, yum yum yum.

I normally steam salmon. It only needs about 4 mins.

However, I have done it in the oven - place each salmon steak in a foil "parcel" with a bit of butter, lemon juice, and parsley and cook for ooooh, about 10 mins.

  • Just my 2 cents for Salmon - I usually just grill it for a few minutes each side - skin side up first - yum!

Not an old style day for me...
For my peace of mind and considering the weather... we're off to see Madagascar.
Quite look forward to it really apart from the cost.

Note to self: Pack secret drinks and penguins to stop beggars asking for treats in the cinema!

    morning all...from grotty bognor regis!

my fencing man starts work today and he tells me it should take a few days to do, thanks to MSE and all the old style tips, hints and general advice i am managing to pay him IN CASH!!!!!!! cant wait until the fence is up.....then i can get my greenhouse!!! (really need to get the greenhouse sorted as all my veggies are outside my front door at the moment to keep away from DS3 who likes eating plants and the occasional bit of pot throwing for good measure (thats autism for you!) also they are gradually obscuring my front door so no one can get through it LOL :rotfl: )

bad news is my car is broken!!! it sounds like the bottom is going to fall out of it so must get it to a mechanic sometime soon.....typical eh! first week of summer holidays!!!

  • We're off to see Madagascar too! Not at all OS here today - (cheap) bucks fizz, eggs benedict and chocolate mousse cake for DH's birthday breakfast, then off to the cinema this morning. His birthday tea is being done by MIL so one less shop to plan for - PLUS we normally shop on a Thursday and now won't need to go until tomorrow, so that's an extra bonus!

One question, as I'm mired in big birthday season for our family - if I buy a dvd from an online shop, does the difference saved count towards my PMS?

    Morning :)

Sorry you're in pain and feeling 'orrible jw. Hope you get it sorted soon.

It's raining here - which is a bit og a bu99er as I left out a load of washing last night - all heavy stuff like jeans and towels. Only remembered as I was climbing into bed about 1am - and just as the rain started. Oh well, it isn't going to get any wetter now

I have already got next door's 12yo here and am expecting the imminent arrival of my 11yo nephew. At least they will be able to entertain DS2 and 12yo did bring another joystick for the PS1 so they are playing on that now (well, 12yo is playing and DS2 THINKS he is playing:))

Am going to put breadmaker on in a minute - fruity loaf I think. (Yum) Will wait until nephew gets here before I decide what to put in slow cooker - either saus casserole or chicken. Mash and veggies and all should be well. Have plenty of fruit and some ice cream for pud.

Need to sort out boys rooms today. DS2 decided he wasn't going to sleep until gone 10pm last night!!! That meant apart from coming to see me every 20 mins, he trashed his room even more than usual. Then he wonders why he hurts his feet when he steps on small cars in the mornng

Ok, I'll get off now and get something done .....well, I may check the rest of this board out :D

I think that counts as an MSE saving. Pin Money is generally earned through the household shopping. But there aren't really any rules, honest :)
