  • My sister has PCOS and I personally think that they are to quick to tell you that you shouldn't expect to have kids I worry about my sister she has gone off the rails since the diagnosis and is depressed about it she rings me in tears saying how useless she is and will I have kids for her she has also been sleeping around as she does not have a regular partner I think this is kind of a "I'll show you" reaction to the drs but the only person in line to get hurt is herself we cant do anything about it she is 21 and will do what she wants but it is sad.

On the other side of it my friend also has PCOS and about 6months after diagnosis she found she was pregnant she had a healthy baby girl then about 1yr ago she sadly had a miscarriage but it just shows they can be and are wrong sometimes.

When you read the stories out there most of them are about PCOS sufferers having babies so I would say don't give up hope.

My two boys are my miracle babies in feb 2002 I gave birth to my first baby a girl who was stillborn she had died because of severe infection which had gone unnoticed I was told because of that infection I would be unlikely to have any more babies I was pregnant with DS1 within 12 weeks so that was a fingers up to him.

Take care and don't stress about it

I lost my first baby, but have gone onto have 3 more. with my 4th i had a miscarraige at 12 weeks, but when i had a scan they said it must have been twins as there was still one in there.
dd nearly died at 12 weeks old from pneumonia and then i discovered that i had di george syndrome which had passed onto her and which was what the first baby died of.
I also have pcos and have had also had 4 c sections.

I used to work with someone who had tried for 12 years to have children. They then stopped trying at the age of 30. I started working with her just before her 40th. After 18 months she went sick for a looooooong time. She was having all sorts of investigative appointments set up as they thought she must have cancer or something. The GP kept asking her if it was possible she could be pregnant and she said no. (different gp than original problems).
Eventually her friend made her do a test and it was positive.
Miracles do happen. She waited until she was 42 but she got her boy.

My sister has PCOS also. She was told she would find it almost impossible to conceive. She had a period about twice a year, and if you're not ovulating it's kinda difficult to get pregnant.

She was referred to a specialist, who upon finding out she hadn't had a period in 7 months told her to try to conceive for 6 months then she could have IVF. Neither of them knew that at that point she was actually about 6 weeks pregnant and I now have a beautiful 6 month old niece.
  • My Mum was told she would never have children, damaged tubes I think, they adopted me, 2 years later she fell pregnant with my brother, 5 years later she had my twin sisters!

  • what a lovely thread, i just have to add to it. hops this is ok

we tryed for ds for 2 years before i got pregnant and 18 months before i got pregnant with dd. i got pregnant the month we decided not to have anymore and was waiting for the first day of period to take the pill which i never got , and hey i was pregnant.

my best friend has PCOS and also a coil in and is now 6 months pregnant! still getting scans to see where the coil is _pale_ ... but a lovely baby on its way:j :j !

i also have 2 friends who both went through IVF and failed but who were having reflexology concurrently with the IVF. they contuniued with the reflexology after the IVF and now one has just had a baby boy and the other is pregnant!

never give up hope, but i think the key is to stop trying and it will happen. the body relaxes when your not trying. i got pregnant the month i was waiting to take the pill, and i do really beleive it was because i was not trying and had given up.

hth and big hugs to you (((hugs))) relax and let nature do its work .
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ~ WOO HOO what a ride!

  • Thanks again everyone- I never expected so many lovely replies when I started this thread! :A

I am starting acupuncture tomorrow- going to give the natural route a try!! :j

  • I too have PCOS and was told I only had a 5% chance of concieving naturally. After several failed IUI attempts I decided to completely change my lifestyle to increase my chances, I lost weight (although I wasn't overweight to begin with), swam and excercised everyday, change my diet to include more fruit and vegtables and took relevent vitamins and minerals. Within 6 months I was pregnant naturally after 3 years of trying and when DS1 was 3 months I fell pregnant with DS2. Good luck and don't give up.
