Hi,
Just a quick post. Frogga sorry to hear about your mortgage problems. Have you thought about applying to work with AQA (Any Question Answered). There are threads about them on DFW and Up Your Income but you can potentially earn quite a lot and the hours are TOTALLY flexible. What's more, working for them could help your losing weight campaign as you'd be too busy to nibble. I started with them in Oct 2006 and earned enough to have the confidence to give up my part time teaching job and move out here to Spain, knowing I can earn money on the internet with them. I know they are having a massive recruting drive at present.
Will post diet and exercise details later.

Ohh squeaky thanks!
MrsMc HM sausage recipe is a real hit in my house. DH just off to freeze up my batch... I've been canny and made some big and some smaller for me. I like chipolattas. (sp?) They are certainly going to be more healthy and I've a few ideas for using them this month in my menus.
Didn't think I'd like the cloves but they really set it off and I'm no longer grumbling that smoked paprika is 3 times the price of normal because it's gorgeous!
Feel I'm really getting a handle on this weight loss business, particularly as I'm learning that reducing my portions means we can afford better quality foods, healthier ones, too. :T
This is the first time since I've started that I've had proper money to spend choosing ingredients and I'm loving it. Got a gammon cooling as we speak, reduced and ready to freeze for my recipes this month.
Just can't believe I can cook really lovely, cheap foods and lose weight. :j
Okay, I'm over excited and yabbing too much.... I'll have a calming earl grey and talk the OH to death instead.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £110.19/ £250

Does anyone mind if I join in?Life is too short to waste a minute of it complaining about bad luck. Find joy in the simple things, show your love for those around you and be grateful for all that you have.0 -
Evening all
Cheerfulness...thats just what i do :rotfl: -i don't use the "fat" skins very often.... use the thinner ones, but when im twisting them i make them different sizes for me and hubby..... i will post the recipe i did the other day tomorrow....
Im not usualy a fan of cloves-i always think they smell dirty -but i put them in the 1st time and loved them so now im ok with them :rotfl: .
We seem to be running on paralel lines... i have realised too that by reducing the portions we can eat for a lot less and as you say.... pick some better products that cost a little more as they now go so much further :T i really can't believ how much we used to eat....hope you are turning the water from the gammon into soup :rotfl: throw in loads of broth mix, split peas or lentils any veg lying about -cook to death and blitz...hubby loves it;)
Just so you don't feel on your own frogga-on the finance front... we had an email this morning with a quote to repair the roof of our house in the UK....ready for this? £3500...we need a new roof  ... so we are sorting out how to afford that one  .... hoping the next quote is a bit less:rolleyes:
I said to hubby that why is it when we are doing our best to "dig ourselves into a better position" -some rotten bl**der keeps taking the shovel and whacking us over the head with it
Still worse things happen i guess.... and at least i didn't run for the kitchenafter the 2 piklets this morning i have just done us a pasta bake... we didn't want lunch -the piklets saw to that :rotfl:
The piklets were a hit :T ...im saving the tuna tins from now on to make rings to make them into crumpets..think they would be nicer a bit thicker
the recipe was:-
7.5g fresh yeast dissolved in 300ml warm water and leave to go frothy, then beat into 225g plain flour and 1 tsp salt until smooth, leave covered in a warm place until doubled in volume
Then you just heat a heavy based frying pan or griddle..it says melt some butter -which i did for the 1st batch, but not the rest -don't think you need it with non stick (plus less cals) drop small ladle fulls on and don't touch ... you will see bubbles appear on the surface and then pop.... don't flip them over until the tops are dry-or the holes seal up again -guess how i found that out :rotfl: .... you can eat them straight from the pan or toast -i think you need to toast them to make them less -"stodgy"
They are really nice - but much more filling than the shop ones.... im hoping the thick ones will be easier to toast..i like them really crispy on the out side:D ..well burnt actually:p
The question is...what do i have a go at next :rotfl:
done, tortilla, pitta and piklets... might try muffins or bagles ..guess who has a carb fetish
although we have decided to have a chinese next weekend -so im going to do crispy duck n pancakes  ... have done it before and they have ducks on offer at the moment so it will be a sight cheaper and healthier than a takeaway :j and the pancakes are really easy:p
Hi princesstippytoes..welcome on board..the more the merrier.... hope you have loads of tips to share
Spent the afternoon sat in the basement planting veg seeds..which are sat on all the bedroom window sills -for now anyway...
Loads of tomatoes, yellow, pink, purple ones:rotfl:
beans...yellow,green n purple ones
peas
aubergines... determined to grow as much as i can...only another 30 odd varieties of stuff to start off :rotfl:
right i will get off...have a great evening everyone...keep up the good work
hello to anyone i have missed:D-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Afternoon ladies :hello: Hello princesstipytoes and any other newbies :hello:
I weighed myself this morning and have stayed the same but I'm pleased about that after the week I've had, must be all the exercise :T
Well done to the losers  Cheerfulness - that's fantastic :T :T :T
Today I've had poached eggs, mushrooms and (dry) toast for brekkie, lunch was leek and potato soup with a slice of homemade bread. I made a HUGE pan of the soup so have got enough in the fridge for Monday's lunch and another bagful for the freezer :j
I'm going to do the veggie sausage and lentil stew thing for tea with yoghurt for pud.
Frogga - hope you get things sorted and do NOT resort to eating - that's an order!!:D
MrsM - not had pikelets for years! Might have to pass Squeaky's recipe link on to OH. he likes cooking stuff like that.
There was snow this morning here but it's gone now thank goodness, still bl**dy cold though
See you tomorrow ladies :A0 -
Happy Saturday!
I had a package to pick up at the local post office, so I walked into town (45mins) picked up my package and went to costa coffee for a nose. It was a birthday pressie from my daughter- my birthday was just over a week ago and the day after I went to the states and had the parcel thing when I got home. I totally forgot I had no had a pressie from her (having way to many daughters!) and as she called me on my day that was all that mattered to me. Anyway it was a nice suprise and her gift was a 'cook yourself thin' book and a RC workout dvd with Coleen Nolan. Her card stated that it was not a hint but she thought it might be helpful. I'm dead chuffed really... both items are things I've looked at and thought oo wouldn't mind that!
Sorry enough waffle- breakfast 2x toast and marmalade, elevensies a biscotti at costa , lunch sugar puffs (pigpen portion:p) afternoon snack 2 custard creams:o
dinner, HM hamburger and salad maybe a medicinal glass of wine;)
Welcome to new peeps and good luck0 -
Hi All - not been around awhile as have been staying with family trying to get things sorted (Mum died last weekend - real blessing for her as badly off following a major stroke, but obviously very sad for all of us). Meals have been not good - quite a few at the pub as easiest, so am determined not to go near scales for several days. Back on the OS straight and narrow for a few days at least now. Congrats to all who are making progress, and welcome to newbies.Resolution:
