In fact a Deputy may be more acceptable to Twin2, or some other neutral person / support worker. She may be persuaded to see it as someone 'helping' her rather than you trying to control her finances, IYSWIM.

I will have a chat with the Support worker that has been assigned to her, and see if they know the best route to sort this out. (other then her opening yet another bank account ). I am quite happy to let someoneelse do it, if she doesnt want me!

I have been onto the Mencap site, and taken down the address and phone number of the South east/s representative. I am not sure what I shall say, so I may try and write a letter, or the cost of a phonecall and someones time could be a bit too long.? Thanks everyone.
I am going to put my **** into gear, and I am going to see if I can get Twin2 to go and see if she can open that other bank account, and change her benefit payements. While she is in a more affable mood.
For now, I am going to get tucked up in bed, relax and have an early night. I hope I will have a better sleep then yesterday.
Then I will broch all the other financial problems in the morning.

  • Mooloo thats great that you are armed with that info... I'd still be tempted to ring while you are in the mindset of sorting this once and for all, a letter could make it a lengthy process? Maybe if you explain its quite complicated they will allocate someone to call you back with the time to dedicate to your case? Worth a call to see maybe.

Hope you a good nights sleep

Good luck. Sometimes putting things down on paper is the best way to explain things - you can see what you've missed out, add bits in and change things around.
If you're thinking about opening another bank account for Twin2 make sure it's one that has no overdraft facilities. Would it be necessary? I know she's got a big overdraft on the one she now has - would it be better for her to open a Post Office card account for her benefits to be paid into? The only cash she'll be able to draw out from that is what's actually in there. HTH
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Unfortunately I didnt sleep that well. So feel somewhat jaded this morning.
I missed the council tax bill, so just paid off the complete bill! Next years I will set up a direct debit.!
Financially I am, mostly, ontop of things. Its just Twin2's money which I will be on the case today. She has been on the phone to them today, but I am not sure what was said.
I am feeling some what wooly at the moment, wonder if its the new tablets?
    I suppose it could be.
I intend to make sure that if twin2 does get a different bank account, as suggested above, I would make sure that it is only a cashcard one.!
I will need to put down in writing what I need to say to Mencap, even if I do read it out over the phone in sort of points.
I dont have to go anywhere today, except to get Bread and Milk, we go through so much of that! I wonder if the twins will get up of thier bottoms and go for that for me. Just going to go and ask them to move.
I must go and lie down, I feel strange. Catch up later.

  • Pleased to see you tackling things

my hubby has power of attorney for his mum as she is a bit batty and got in a muddle with bills aftef FIL died some got paid 3 times and others got missed altogether ..........i seem to remember it was a simple process especially if the person gives consent rather than a judge deciding their capabilities

I also find lists really helpful even ones for daily chores like washing ironing making phonecalls etc ....................ticking off things feels good even small things

mooloo, it seems worth sharing something my sis says she has started doing after getting fed up of nothing being done. She now leaves a list of things to be done that day, with a note to say how many tasks each person should do. So it will be something like "Please do three things from this list." And the list might be

    Empty dishwasher
    peel veg
    walk dog
    feed dog
    feed chickens
    collect eggs
empty washing machine and hang up to dry
put your clothes away from basket in airing cupboard

Obviously it could include some 'pre-named' tasks, eg

    Son, do homework
    Twin 1, buy nappies
    Twin 2, phone pre-school

Now, the beauty of this is that the sooner you get to the list, the wider your choice of jobs! Plus if you write your name against the job you do, you KNOW who has done what they should have done, or not done it properly.

If I were doing this list thing, I would probably pre-print some with all the very regular jobs: washing up, laundry etc. Then each day I would cross off what DIDN'T need doing that day.

I think I better get the printer set back up.! (oh and plenty of ink).
I must admit I used to have a tick off board when they "helped" me run the pub, my BF set it up for me.
I have been up and about today. Yesterday I was so woosy, I didnt do very much.
I have been to Biggests old house to let the carpet cleaner in, let him do his job and go back and lock up. My Windscreen wipers split, due to the ice, so I had to go and buy some new ones. £24.50 spent, not planned!
I had quick cuppa with my parents. Must admit living nearer them is just so much better. Even though I do talk to my mum on msn most days, its good to just pop in for that coffee.
I have made an appointment with the Gym for Monday 1pm. The doctor gave me a referral so that I can try to keep some movement, especially with my hip. Lets hope I can manage to do some of the things!.
I have a bruise where the accupuncture needle went into my foot,? is that supposed to happen?
The place looks like mini whirlwind has been through it, both the twins are currently in hiding, either in their bed or the bath. Time to shake them back up.
DS is unwell again. He came home Sick again yesterday. I really am at the end of my tether with him, as I am not sure that he is really ill. Or should I say as ill as he is making out at times. Soon as I went out he was on his computer and eating crisps!!.
The CSA are still not sorted out. They promise to ring me back with an update tonight.
Tomorrow is my BF's birthday, so I am going back across to Oxford tomorrow to be with him.
Still havent come up with the exact words I wanted for Mencap, so perhaps I will make a blind call afterall.
Now its time to gee up the twins.

I tried to contact Mencap today. Was redirected, a few times. Given the number of the National Learning Disablilites help line. They are of course closed this afternoon. (I was ringing when the girls had gone out.).
Twin 2 has been to the bank to open an account, but they say she needs £100 to open it. I am sorry but I am not prepared to give her another £100 to open another bank account.
She is going to have to change her benefits to me, (Or someoneelse) and get the money put by for her, one way or another I just cant afford to put more money her way. I can see it going in and like the last one dissappearing the next day.
