Mooloo's struggle with babies and bills

The social workers told her to stop paying her benefits into the Halifax, and to open a cashbuilders account with Nationwide, and then just offer to pay a small amount to Halifax until she clears it
The fact that she hasn't done it, and has run up an overdraft of around £700 seems to indicate that she really can't understand and manage her financial affairs herself.
I wonder if you've ever discussed Power of Attorney with her? HTH.....................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

I have considered it, but she is obviously quite reluctant. I am hoping that we can get through to her, but she is putting up every obstacle in the way that she can.(perhaps she got the stubbornness from me!).:oWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

It may be that she's being reluctant and stubborn and you're unable to get through to her because she doesn't have the ability to understand and manage her financial affairs. Clearly something needs to be done quickly to prevent the situation becoming far more serious than it is now......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Sorry to hear that your Spondylosis is so severe. I think that we are probably on a par at the moment.!
My doctor tried accupuncture for me for the first time today. I am very achie at the moment.! Not only because I had to get up early and start to move.
I too have been on 12 Gabapentin a day. Although I am trying to cut it down to 9 a day, but it is hard. I also have voltarol, and now I have to take Omeprazole to reduce the stomach irritation.
Last week I also started to take Fluoxetine for the depression!. Oh and of course since my hysterectomy, I have to have Everol patches too!!. When I go to the chemist I need a carrier bag!
The doctor gave me a sick note for the next 13 weeks.!
It looks like I will soon have to join you on the new Incapacity system,if my work lay me off. I am not sure how the system works.
I dont understand how they expect you to look for work? Or me, if that happened, cos what can we do? If your arms and legs are affected as mine are its very difficult to see what we can do. Personnally all my jobs really have been physical ones, running pubs and then the Charity Shop.
I cannot stay on a computer for very long, and I can no longer sew for more than a few minutes. (I once used to make Wedding Dresses for a living, when the children were little and I was first left on my own!).
Today I have to go to the bank. I did plan to go after the doctors but forgot that they didnt open until 9.30, and as it is so wet and windy I decided to come home have my breakfast and then I will go back before I have to pick up DS to take him to the Dentist in Oxford.
He didnt want to go to school this morning, reckons he didnt have any sleep, and then that he has a bit of a sore throat! Cruel me sent him to school anyway. He has far too much time off of school with his migraines as it is. I am sure if he is really bad the school will send him home!.
The twins are down stairs, I had to wake up twin1 at half 9 as the social workers are due, (any time now) to start their assessments of them as parents again! This will be interesting.
They have said that the health visitors have been in a meeting with them, and that they are going to involve Home Start with the girls.
Is something finally going to happen? I hope so.
(Mind you they are late). When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Talk of the devils, the health visitor has just rung and asked to come on the 21st at 3.30. They want me to be here, so I will have to change my physio in Oxford. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0

Do you understand mental capacity ? This government website gives information and guidance on it.

If you don't know which way to turn and the twin hasn't the ability to understand the consequences of managing her finances then that's both of you in a pickle and things can get significantly worse. It seems to me that you need some assistance. Mencap would be a good place to start, as has been suggested by another poster.
Doing nothing is really not an option, you need to make a start - why not start with Mencap ?.....................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Unfortunately trying to prove that she is unable to understand doesnt seem to be enough. But I will have to try and see where I stand legally., I dont really understand Power of Attorney properly. She has already signed a letter with the council so that I get her housing benefit, and they will discuss her claim with me now.

Can understand you feel overwhelmed and don't know where to start but if you start with Twin2's finances then surely that will have a knock on effect on other things. If other things slip then so be it but this sounds like priority.
I know I'm stating the obvious to you here but while you are not working I would make it a mission to sort the finances out asap. Also do you know what she is spending on? Did you once say her ex was on drugs? (sorry if this is incorrect). I was just wondering is she helping fund his habit or if she is possible dabbling herself?
Hope my post doesn't sound patronising coz its not meant to be.
Try and speak to someone from mencap asap
Good luck0 -
I have followed the links above, and read, and watched films on the government site. I am however unable to go for Power of Attorney as I am a bankrupt? I think that I may have to speak to Biggest of Mooloo's and see if she might be able to follow it through.?When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0

Sorry - I hadn't thought about your financial circumstances. If Biggest doesn't want to do it, I think the Court of Protection can appoint a deputy to act on its behalf. It's a bit complex, but Mencap or DIAL should be able to help you through the process if it's decided this will be the best way forward.
HTH.....................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
