has anyone any experience in BT from a credit Union account and not a Credit card. all my debt is held in the Credit Union??

someone in the old place I worked had Balance Transfered but if I remember correctly the new card put the money into their account?

Anybody know about this option and is the transfer rate 2.9%

Not heard of it being done to a CU Debt but what you say about the new card putting the money in their account ..that's what all BT's do ..just put the amount of the BT you request in to the other card account and the new card takes on the debt .The "transfer rate" or fee you mention is typically that sort of % sometimes less but sometimes more ..like 3%

I was searching about and it is refered to on this site as a Super Balance Transfer. I will have to contact the card provider to see if they accept this as a card transfer or an account credit. The difference seems to be on a £4000 transfer that a good BT rate = 2.9% (£116) and a SBT rate is usually 4% (£160) with Virgin. The way I see it the £44 is better in my pocket as I'll not have it all paid off and this £44 would cover the next BT.;)
p.s. I've been known as Glee long before that awful show appeared.....

Hi all, I have £750 with Vanquis..went to them to try improve my score, which I have, but now the fee's are kicking in and I'm thinking of a balance transfer. credit score is moderate, could be better. Tesco was mentioned a while back on this site - anyone ever used them? I think I'll try them or maybe Barclaycard (I did have an account with them before, does that help you application?)
    Thanks!

I got a Tesco card very recently when I had knockbacks from a couple of others just prior to that application so worth a try .I think they do BT's for 9 months ...as for BC probably depends on how long your prev account has been closed and was it kept in good order ??

Here's what I/we did. (we have a very healthy credit score)
Noticed that MBNA had an introductory offer for BT's and cash advance of 1.9% @ 0% till October 2011. So we applied for that and got accepted and they then gave us a credit limit of £9700. (My wife said "As we are planning to buy a new kitchen this could be useful" I said )
Costs - we are paying £76 fees and no interest and we can afford to pay back £200 p/mth and then possibly look at a new kitchen with an actual loan...:(

Thanks to this site I would be paying out a S**t lot more than £76:A

  • Hi

I've just been accepted for Barclaycard Balance Transfer which pays off one card and I was hoping would pay off another card £2k (VISA card my wife has in the USA). Barclays say they only make transfers into the card being paid off, and AMEX is the only foreign card they pay into. Any creative ideas as to how I can use the Transfer to pay the VISA card without incurring much cost? I have to let Barclays know by 15th Oct. Bit of a puzzle....

  • Question, please: Does the Barclaycard platinum 0% for sixteen months deal permit transfer to a current account?

It was late when I posted my question about barclaycard balance transfer so I'm bumping up the post.

  • I've just got a Santander card with 0% on transfers for 18 months - seemed like the best deal out there at the moment
  • I've been looking around for the best deal, never done bt before. All I can find about Santander one is that its only for existing customers. I dont bank with them, do I need to?
