Can anyone offer any help?
I have been refused by numerous credit card companies since March this year.
My credit is A1 paid, no adverse what so ever, I have tried not to get too many searches against me as I know it doesnt always look good.
All I want to do is transfer the balance of one credit card over, so it will be in replacement not an addition credit card.
The only reason i can think of for why i am being declined is:
* number of searches
*over committed (however this card would settle another)
Please any advice would be great appreciated
Hi Chipper
It's probably because of the 2 reasons you state above. Reference the 2nd reason; how does another lender know you are definitely going to cancel the other card? they only have your word for this so that's why they won't accept you.
your best bet is to post an soa on the board and people can advise where you can save money and put it towards paying off your current debt asap. In 6 months or so then you may be in a better position to apply for a lower apr card again; depending how much you owe. But i wouldn't apply for any more in the meantimeMFW 2025 #50: £1139.75/£600007/03/25: Mortgage: £67,000.00

New to this. Have a credit card with Bank of Scotland and am looking to transfer balance of £4500 but am a housewife with part time job, hence a low income. Any suggestions of a card with 0% interest or low interest that would take low earner. Alternatively can my husband take out a card but transfer my balance?
Appreciate any advice, thanks0 -
(Hi I have posted this in the credit card shuffle area too, but there may be other options apart from shuffling so am posting here too!)
Hello! I would be so grateful if someone could give me some advice! I have read all the info on Credit cards/transfers/shuffling etc but I still cant work out the best thing to do.. Heres the info:
I have £3,300 debt on a Virgin card, 16.8% apr. Limit of £5,000, and there is currently a 0% til june '11 (on balance transfers) promotion on.
I also have £500 on my HSBC credit card. This is 21.9% apr, limit of £2,500, no promotions.
I also have an £800 overdraft on my HSBC current account, at 19.9%, limit of £1,250.
I am expecting a £2,000 repayment in december which will all go towards my debts.
I am currently unemployed.
I was thinking of doing some kind of shuffle to take advantage of the Virgin promotion, but wont the fees work out as really expensive? I was thinking of asking HSBC to up my credit limit, but the fees to transfer to them and then back to Virgin will be loads!
Any ideas would be so welcomed thank you!!0 -
I have a personal income of about £6500, household income of roughly £35000, but cannot find a card that will allow me to do a 0% balance transfer, due to personal income being so low. Have been able to do it in the past, but due to recession, can't find a lender that needs any less than £10000 income. Help!! I have (along with my husband) an excellent credit rating.0

Hi, not sure if in correct forum but was needing some advise.
I have a credit card which i have had for several years balance at £950.00
I have recently taken out another credit card which i have a balance of £200.00 and dont pay any interest until october 2010.
My new card company offer a 12 month 0% balance transfer & i was wondering if i should transfer my other balance of £950.00 over to this card or just pay the £950.00 balance using my new card.
This would give my new card a balance of £1150.00
I still intend to use new card as i purchase things that are work related & for personal use.
I just need some advise on which way to go, balance transfer or not?
Any suggestions?
Thanks.0 -
hi all, my current zero interest on my credit card is coming to an end. It is a virgin cc - will they offer me another deal of interest free or will I have to shop around for another cc? thanks0

The idea is you get used to spending on the zero rate then they charge you 18% or whatever, so no
Here is where you employ the competitive advantage of free markets aka shop around0 -
Can anyone help? I am not sure if this is the right place to post. I was hoping someone could help. Can you transfer a balance onto a credit card to give it a credit balance?
i.e. Transfer £500 onto a 0% interest card from a card that only has a balance of £250?0 -
Quick question.
I have three credit cards, all with smallish balances (£1500 in total) I have a poor credit rating, so am unable to get a 0% card to transfer to - my APR on the cards is pretty high.
My dad is willing to transfer the balances to his 0% card (i am saving for a house, so need all the savings i can).
Does anyone know if this is possible? Or do both cards have to be in my name?
Many thanks in advance0 -

Hi - you are usually only asked for card number to transfer a balance so should be fine to transfer.0
