I have just got a new barclay card credit card to transfer my current balnce to it fori 0% interest but when I registered online it said I was not able to transfer anything??? Anyone else experienced this.

Call them - a few people reported that for some reason the online banking does not know about this "offer".
    Enjoy the silence...

    Just a query..
We have debt with our local Credit Union and apart from the mortgage there is no other debt.
Can I Balance Transfer from a credit union account or do we take out a loan.

I love using the CU but the debt is just slightly high due to circumstances beyond our control. bought a second hand car that went tits up after 6months lost about £1500. but left with £4500 debt..
    all help appreciated..
p.s. I've been known as Glee long before that awful show appeared.....

    Hello

I owe £4k spread across two credit cards - Capital One and BarclayCard. I would like to transfer these into one place and extend the loan/debt over a long period - say 3 years for example.

I was wondering if the MBNA card: https://wwwa.mbna.co.uk/apply/UKCCapp/Ctl/entry?sc=8pt48rfl_ost&mc=ECO-UK-33333-12386

Or is perhaps the loan/credit card from Sainsburys a good deal for me? http://www.sainsburysbank.co.uk/borrowing/bor_loans_small_skip.shtml

    thanks in advance.
  • Hi, I have a C/C with Lloyds which I am £500 debt on, I know its not alot but I also have an account with Littlewoods I bought a washer dryer in Feb and got buy now pay later, so I need to pay it back before March or I get all the interest added on. Well I've been accepted for a Barclays C/C. Should I pay the Littlewoods off with my Lloyds card and then transfer it to the Barclays? So the total would be £500 + £400 from littlewoods. When I applied for Barclays it asked how much I wanted to be transferring and I put £500. However my limit is £2250. Will I be able to transfer the £900?

Really not sure how transfers work!!!

In my experience even though you tell them when you apply how much you want to BT you can still do BT's up to your limit ( or at least a high % of it 95% for example.) ..Some cards only allow you to do BT's within a certain period of opening the account .And you will aslo have a BT fee as a few % of the amount you BT ,typically 3 % so in your case you would have the £500,+ the £400 + the fees for thes BT's.

The fees are 2.9% and time limit is 60 days and must not exceed 90% of the available credit. So I think I will tranfer both, dont want to leave it till March and not paid it all off!Esp with Xmas coming and in my overdraft atm!!

    Thanks for your reply.
  • I rang barclaycard last week after reading the MSE e mail advice about asking for a reduction in interest rates as I was at the end of a promotional offer.
At first I was told 'we cant do that'... I asked to speak to a manager and after being on hold for quite some time was put through to another person who offered to reduce my interest by 1% to 22.9%
I then explained I would be closing the account by transferring the balance to another card, at this I was again put through to someone else who turned out to be 'customer loyalty' who offered me a reduction to 6.9% for the life of the balance starting next statement.

It certainly pays to ask and then threaten to move your balance if they refuse to lower the rate!
  • woah. this is nice.

someone in the old place I worked had Balance Transfered but if I remember correctly the new card put the money into their account?

Anybody know about this option and is the transfer rate 2.9%
