    Hi guys,

    I have 3 credit cards:

    Barclaycard
    Virgin
    Halifax

The latter 2 are quite low in what I owe, but I would like to BT a chunk, or as much as possible, from the Barclaycard to another card.

What do you think would be my best option/s with current deals on the market?

My credit rating is reasonably good I guess.

Thanks in advance for any help I receive.

Just thought I'd bump this as I would like to make a start on it this week if poss. Thanks again.

this the best alternative is Virgin card, or the MBNA one(they are both MBNA in fact, but if you take on i think it is more difficult to get another/or you would not be allowed to BT between cards from the same company)

I myself have a virgin cc and it had a 0% for 15months

I'm finally on the home straight with clearing my credit card. I was hoping to have it paid off before it began to accrue interest in December but it'll take me to Feb to clear it completely but at least, for the first time in over 20 years, I'll be credit card free.

Tonight I read a letter from my CC company (Virgin) offering me an interest free balance transfer to October 2011. I have 3 bank overdrafts totalling just under £5k so I called the CC company to ask if I would be allowed to make a balance transfer to my bank accounts. It seems that they can't do that for me. Does anyone know if there are any good deals on balance transferring to bank accounts as opposed to credit/store cards? I intend focussing on clearing as much of the overdrafts as possible next year. I hope to be able to average £300 per month - more if possible. So far this year, I've managed to pay an average of £250 per month off the cc bill and I should be able to continue with that amount for the bank overdrafts. The idea is that I will close each account as I pay the overdraft and reduce the overdraft on the last one so that I'm not caught by temptation again.

One of Virgins terms is that they can transfer into bank accounts, it is called a Cash amount transfer...although there rate is 4% so unless you know somewhere where you can earn more than 4% it is not worth stoozing

Thanks saadat, but I already have a virgin (mbna) cc. What I am trying to do is take a lump from my barclaycard and BT that on to a card that isn't a virgin or halifax card.

I was just wondering if anyone more in the know than I had any advice on what to do or to mention a card company who are offering a good deal on BT's at the moment?

    Thanks.

OK this is my first post on this board and I could do with some advice.

I've currently got a Barclaycard Platium Visa (credit limit £4150, available balance £3150) and I would like to use the available balance to transfer another credit card so that i've just got one card and one payment to rememeber each month!!

At the minute the website is offering existing customers 6.9% on balance transfers (which is cheaper than the 18% rate on my other card) however when I have rang up I'm being told that I'm not eligible

If I used one card to pay the other off (instead of a balance transfer) does anyone know whether this would be classed as a cash transaction?? i.e. would I get charged a mega interest rate

    I don't want 2 cards...

  • I am just a bit unsure of what to do with old cards which I have moved my debt from. Should I reduce the credit limit, close the account or simply just leave it.

I guess my question revolves around my credit score - does the actual amount of available credit not affect my score but just the ratio of debt vs credit?
    Debt 1 June 2017: £35,000.00 ~ Debt now: £10,000
  • ello MSE's! Hope your not too chilly.

Anyway, I have had a Virgin Card for a few years & owe just under £2,500 on it. I would like to do a balance transfer, but both Egg & Barclaycard have only offered me a low credit limit, so therefore, not enough to cover the transfer. I cancelled them both. A lot of cards seem to be MBNA & so is my Virgin, so I can do a balance transfer. Does anyone know of a card that will allow me to a full balance transfer, with a higer credit limit? As I would like to do that, then destroy my Virgin card.

    Thanks for any help!
