  • Guys, does anybody know who out of the following generally offer the highest BT card limits and also say yes to more than most!?

Nationwide, Egg, First Direct, Santander, Post Office, Capital One, Co-op, Lloyds TSB, Natwest, RBS, Sainsbury's & Tesco.

By the way, my current account is with Barclays. Though I'd better tell you this as I know some card issuers want you to have a current account with them as part of the deal.

Thanks for any advice given ;o)

Speaking personally I got a card from Tesco after Sainsburys ,RBS and NatWest knocked me back .
  • Thanks Molley, the tesco one though is only 9 months 0% interest.... Any other experiences guys? Thanks.
  • Hi,

My fiance and I have recently bought a new home and applied for a 0% on purchases credit card for 'emergencies' i.e. if we see a bargain over christmas, but don't quite have all the money to buy it.

We have both applied for a Sainsbury's card, and both got rejected (they assured us it was due to their own criteria, not our credit ratings). My fiance also applied for another, was accepted, but the credit limit was only £400.

We have never had problem getting cards before, so I think it may be due to us now having a mortgage...

I currently hold 2 credit cards, one which the 0% on purchases period has ran out and I owe nothing (Tesco) and another which has 0% on balance transfers for 12 months (Santander), on which I owe £350. I took the Santander card out approx 2 months ago to transfer my Tesco balance to a 0% deal.

My question is: If I were to purchase something on my Tesco card, and immediately transfer the balance to my Santander card, would I still pay no interest on this transfer for the remainder of my 12 month interest free period? Or is it only applicable to transfers in a certain time period?

Thank you in advance for any help and advice!

It is only applicable to transfers made within a specific time frame, generally it is 3 months from account opening but some it is 60 days, so probably best to call them to be absolutely sure....

Thanks very much Stephane! I'll give them a call
  • Help!!!
Desperately need some good advice here. I have two cards at present. RBS - £3000 on it, and an up to the hilt MBNA at £15K ! This has recently stopped its interest free period, and left me with a ridiculous £200 a month interest to pay off.
    I earn 35K a year and have a small mortgage of £250 a month.
I got knocked back about 6months or so ago by a Post Office C/C application.

I desperately need to get another card to transfer as big a chunk of it to 0% as I can. Ive had, and paid off (over a year ago) Barclaycard, Capital One, Egg.
I have a very good credit rating with no defaults or problems on it.

so... which card is gonna offer me the highest credit limit and be least likely to knock me back for it?

    many thanks guys

  • thanks for this information
  • I've got a Nationwide credit card and my credit limit is £3,000. I've had it ages and never missed a payment (In fact never owed more than about £300 on it in the past).

I now owe £1,900 on it and keep wondering about 0% balance transfers as it seems to make sense but although I've read about them on here I'm still quite confused about who would accept me and how do I know if they would accept a transfer of that amount?

I only have a pension as income but I can afford to pay £200 a month as my son owes me for some of it and he'll be paying half.

Any help as to how I go about it and my chance of getting it would be appreciated. Thanks.
