I did the same - Chat lady said "thank you for your patience as I was reviewing this for you. As I can see from my end, the conditions of the promotion have been met." and then "However, please be aware that one of the key criteria to receive the reward is that 7 days must pass after meeting the criteria. With that being said, please allow for 7 days to pass, and if the reward is not credited to your account by then, feel free to reach out so we can investigate this for you." As above, I'll wait the 7 days too and see what happens. Was expecting it to be plain-sailing as it had been with others.

OH opened and account today and thought the free share had not been added but it appears on the "order" page.

obvious now, if you open an account during trading then its added straight away, if the markets closed then it goes on to the "buy" list. we'll recheck tomorrow.

I just opened my Etorro account, it is verified.

When clicking through the link and filling out my info, I selected savings and stocks, from the stocks as my interests, as I didn't realise I was supposed to only select stocks.

I also see on the account statements with nil activity going back to January 25.

That is very strange, as far as I'm aware this is a brand new account.

I did select the free shares when I joined but I haven't yet transferred any money. Is there a way somehow using the dashboard (or some other way), that I can check to make sure I'm definitely eligible before I transfer the £200 investment across? Thank you so much.

  • If you are thinking of opening an investment account with etoro then please read the comments in trustpilot.I did and decided to give etoro a miss.

Everyone is completely free to decide whether an offer is good for them. .Like always, Trustpilot reviews of financial products are to be taken with a very large pinch of salt, as they are largely from people disgruntled with a company for one reason or another. Invariably negative experiences are due to people jumping in head first, without reading the T&Cs. I basically ignore Trustpilot and prefer the input from regular MSE forumites.

Whilst eToro would not be my choice of platform for regular investment, mainly because there are several simpler and much more user-friendly platforms available, their joining offers are tempting and easy to do if you stick to the T&Cs. Many regular members of this forum, me included, have received the promised cashbacks / shares, to the tune of several hundred pounds. If anyone lost money, it was due to not reading the T&Cs, or making unneccessary investments.

    Hi,

I'm interested in trying this - but not clued up on shares.

The Ts & Cs say you can only choose "trading stocks" or "qualified stocks" in order to receive the free £100. Are these the only options they give you when you sign up using the MSE link? I'm worried about selecting the wrong share and not qualifying. Any advice on which to choose? I plan to just keep the shares long term.

Am I correct that I would then begin to receive dividends that would need to be declared on Self Assessment tax return, and pay CGT at the time they are sold?

Can the free shares then only be sold via eToro and after paying their selling fees?

Any other tips/advice for a relative newbie in this area gratefully received!

Forgot to ask, if you keep the shares after 90 days does eToro begin go charge any admin type fees if the shares continue to be "held" via eToro?

    Many thanks.
