I’ve tried this, submitting it both via the app and also replying to their email in the hope a human might be able to look at it and use some common sense. Unfortunately not, they want a transaction confirmation document for the deposit, issued by the bank. I have no idea what it is they’re talking about.

Seems like a convenient way for them to hold onto my money without offering anything in return. Hope I’m wrong, but I don’t understand why it’s such a palaver - I deposited £200 from a UK bank account, in my name, completed every single verification process and still getting this bull****. Really regret taking out an account with them. Disappointing they appear in the MSE email, even if not an explicit recommendation.

Just ask your bank e.g.via online chat for transaction reference and details and they can provide that easily. This info you give to etoro and they should be able to trace everything and you bank can alos give you exact details of the transaction including time stamp.

  • Hi, has anyone only received the standard £50 of shares rather than the expected £100? Is it because the MSE offer finished on 30th June? I just signed up, deposited £200 but was only offered (& received) £50 worth, even though via the same link.

Also, has anyone found a way to chat to them rather than the AI assistant (which simply timed out without providing an answer to my query)?

    Thanks.

I used the chat function and the AI assistant eventually led me to a human. I suggest trying at a different time of day.

I need some help please…….I opened an Etoro Account through the Martin Lewis app on the 18th June 2026. I deposited £200 as advised in order to receive £100 of free shares. I have done this and now cannot get into my Etoro account. I have been trying for days to get to speak to someone in Customer Service but they just send you a link which is of no help. They say they will contact you in 2 working days but it's of no help. I have clicked on forgotten password but nothing arrives in my email. Has anyone had this experience? If so, would you please help me resolve this?

Yes, it would appear they are now enforcing the 90 day restriction, or at least they apparently are for me - I had the error too, and while the error itself isn't very clear, after doing some digging I found a different page stating they would not release the bonus payment to the GBP wallet until after the 90 days (assuming the conditions are still met at that time).

I can't complain for them enforcing the terms this time though, a free ~£100 just for holding £200 with them for 3 months is still a far better return than any savings account will give you.

Interesting question. I would presume the bonus would be treated as capital gains when you sell the position. However, the deeper question would be, as they are received free, does this reduce the cost basis to 0 or can we still use the cost basis market value at the time given. Not that it matters for me, I'd be nowhere near using up CGT allowance.

Once again, no stocks after a another week. This time, however, they confirmed I was eligible for the promotion and the CS assistant asked me which I'd like, and they'll apply it manually. That should be done within the next 2 weeks.
