Where was this "promotion"? I've never seen him promote any specific share, and the majority of the reporting I saw on SpaceX was highlighting the vast overpricing of its IPO.
Is your partner aware of the upcoming release of shares to people currently locked in, who hold a significant number of shares but who got them for very little money, so selling them will still realise a huge profit for them but could reduce the market price even more?

SpaceX was in Martins headline for the free shares, it was the only company he mentioned.

Ok, so the MSE marketing folk were promoting the free share, and used SpaceX as the hook. Not quite the same thing. If I'd gotten free SpaceX shares, I'd be tempted to get out now before the next tranche of shares are unlocked.

So the shares are likely to go to zero? Can she just take the remaining £60 out now and run?And the other £200 she put in initially?

Couple of mentions in recent MSE Newsletters above.
Whether these are "promotions" is doubtful, pretty hard to discuss buying/investing in shares recently without mentioning the largest IPO in the history of capitalism.

I honestly felt that he was suggesting we should probably go with SpaceX, just speaking the truth of how it felt, it's OK I don't care I'm not going to sue! Chill ya beans hon.

I personally doubt they'll go to zero (but it cant be ruled out as they are in a very risk sector) but the IPO price was a hefty premium based on fundaments, and all serious reporting indicated that after a flurry, the shares could trade below the IPO price for quite some time. If/when the price might get back to the price your partner paid is something no-one can answer, but something that has fallen by 40% now needs a 66.66…% increase to get back to where it was, and thats not looking like happening any time soon in a market that many think is already high.
Was the other £200 she put in into SpaceX too, or was that invested in something safer? If SpaceX, has what made them invest in that fundamentally changed? Or if you think (s)he invested in that because of the MSE newsletter, then I'd recommend some more reading into, eg, trackers or ETFs, before further investing is done.

You can sell the free share whenever you like but you cannot withdraw the funds until after 90 days from when you signed up.
I'm assuming the £200 deposit has not been invested?
