Etoro free £100 shares

I went for this promotion and have not received any free shares. Worse still is that EToro is abominable to try to communicate with. Their ai chatbot (Tori) is eloquent but useless; raising a support ticket is like shouting into a cave; no phone lines whatsoever; no simple way to escalate anything. In other words it’s like trying to talk to brick wall.
shame on MSE for promoting this terrible platform and this obvious scam offer.0 -
Must be a scam, that's why they gave me £500 for 20 minutes effort back in January.

I agree that it's definitely not a scam, I also got the £500 (as did my wife and son for very little time and effort) and we've all also qualified for this £100 offer (we closed our accounts immediately after cashing out the previous offer)
But, if something goes wrong, it does look like a real pain to sort out.

OK, maybe not a scam but still an organisation with an atrocious customer relations service. Not one to be promoted. Count yourself lucky that it worked for you first time.

Wow, I've read through all these posts and am a wee bit anxious! I paid in £200 and got the £100 which I shoved in Apple [no experience whatsoever]. I didn't open a GBP account as I didn't notice the option. I'm unwilling to open one now or try to change it because there seems to be many problems associated with trying to do just about anything. I've marked the day I can withdraw and close the account but am more than a tad concerned!
I too am a bit surprised MSE thought this was a good idea considering the bad reviews on Trustpilot [I always look at the worst first wherever I look]… it's caused quite a bit of a kerfuffle stress-wise.
Oh - also, I kept getting asked to verify and couldn't face it, so left it. Tried to get in today and it said the account is now fully verified! I'm just hoping they don't raise the issue when it comes time to withdraw my funds.
My main worry now is missing the reminder and forgetting all about it!
One last thought - maybe they are regretting the offer if they've been inundated by thousands of MSE fans!

I would still open the GBP wallet because at some point you have to sell your share if you want to cash out (or check if a portfolio transfer is possible should that be an option and you want to hang on to your share). When you do sell, you can pick the GBP wallet (USD is set as default) and withdraw from there. This should avoid some more exchange fees but I am not entirely sure.
Depending when you got the Apple share, you might have made some gains already. The £100 incentive isn't a huge deal, part of their marketing budget. In January they gave out £500 and in many other juristictions outside the UK they still run a $500 USD campaign. If a company can sponsor the Fifa
corruptionworld cup, we not need to worry.I would also not give too much about TrustPilot. Bad news spread always faster than good news so very likely gives a scewed picture and many other insitutions, trusted by valued and long standing board members, get not very glorious reviews either. There is also a large shadow business for fake reviews about all and everything, which makes TrustPilot more like a "I may trust the Pilot" platform. An indicator nevertheless but not something to give too much value.

Follow up! a few weeks in and I like it! Some of the features i wish 212 had are here. It's definitely a different approach and I will be using both. Withdrawal tested perfect, intentionally overpaying a transfer in to withdraw and it was fast and easy. Stocks buy at the right price with no hidden fees disguised as slippage.
My Paypal shares are up 33% already. Baba up 24%. and Vistry 20%. These were at rock bottom prices at the time so a definite buy for me. WPP as well, doing very badly, so a nice entry point. All up over 20%. Byrn and Oracle being the big losers, down 10%, they've not recovered yet. Crst were down 10% too but they've bounced back to 5% loss. I like to pick the bad ones! UK house builders doing very badly. Car manufactures too, rock bottom prices!
I've not manually sold any shares yet but I did have my BMW position liquidated (BMW were doing a share conversion). 212 did this automatically but in etoro I had to manually rebuy the stock in the other ticker. But, in 212, the added shares has seriously broken your average price for that ticker, no idea if they will fix it, which is important for tracking buy or sell.
I did have some mysterious funds showing in etoro's $ wallet instead of my GBP wallet, which was confusing for sometime, no idea where they came from, looking for if a position had been closed etc. I believe this was a cancelled order made a few nights before. Which is 1 to watch out for. If you make an order and instantly cancel it, the funds will transfer from GBP to $$$ for the order, so you may be paying the transfer fee without making the order. Which isn't a big issue, just don't transfer it back (you'll hit a fee again) and select your $$$ wallet when buying your next position (if it's $$$ of course) (I wouldn't of noticed this if not looking about), now we've only paid the fee once, the original time. Everything I wrote there maybe nonsense but it's how I've visualised what happened, correct me if you know more.
Thank you MSE for bringing this offer. I'd wanted to try a different app to 212 for sometime and an extra £100 was definitely the incentive to jump in. A nice safety blanket for making bad choices. Thank you2 -

You should keep your own records and not rely on third parties.

My partner got the SpaceX shares that Martin promoted and they've gone down - about 40% at the moment. My google ones have lost about 3%
