Prefer cordless / wireless.
Easy to use especially the key pad, speed dial and answerphone.
Panasonic seem to be a good brand.
Any recommendations / horror stories?
Thanks
Thumbs up for panasonic from me. I got the Panasonic TG7224E. As well as large easy key pad, speedial and answerphone, it has built in phone directory (50 number) and intercom facility. The only thing my model doesn't do that would be useful is the keys lighting up in the dark. Some Panasonic handsets can do this but the ones that came with my system don't. Other than that it is brilliant.0 -

They're always coming up on Freecycle (I've passed on at least 5 sets, some with 4 handsets).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Our home phone has decided to die at the ripe old age of 18 months. I think I'll give up with BT phones as the last few just haven't lasted and seem to really struggle with battery life (both were cordless)
I'm looking at a Philips model but was wondering, are they all short life products? Should I just buy a corded phone this time? The choices are endless. I've read a few reviews but sometimes it seems we're only prompted to review if it's a negative!
Not wanting to waste more money, I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on the best brand to go for - wanted a twin cordless phone set with answering machine...
(Not a good week for the Lovethymini household so far - junior Lovethymini decided to throw the electronic scales in the bath last night. Which had water in it . Then Mr Lovethymini loosened the lid on a tin of paint and didn't tell me so I picked it up and innocently shook it, had to be oil based, didn't it... my mother's antique ring is now in the jeweller's waiting to be cleaned...)
thanks in advance0 -
Hi, We have gone through lots of different makes and the best we have had and are still using is Siemens. Easy to use, good sound quality and excellent range and battery life. Have a look on this website for good prices, although we got ours from John Lewis as they had a special purchase.

Hi there,we were in the same situation as you a couple of months ago, after reading loads of reviews we went for the Panasonic model no KXTG8023,dect phones with answering machine, just had a look on Amazon for you,and although you want 2 phones they are coming up at £82.58p,the set of 3 are £60,these are brilliant phones, they look good, the sound is brilliant, really pleased with ours and as I said the reviews we read were spot on.0

A second vote for Siemens here. Not sure why no manufacturer wants to make mobile-quality home phones. Even a top-of-the line Siemens seems slow and clunky compared to the average modern mobile handset, but it was one of the best of the bunch a couple of years ago when we needed a new one (probably overpriced though unless you get a good deal).
Bought ours from Ligo as above - problem free purchase.0 -
Thanks guys
After much thought we've decided to go for the Panasonic KXTG8023 as we think 3 phones will be handy in our new house and a few reviews commented on it having a proper traditional ring tone.
It was close though - I preferred the look of the Seimens phones and it was Which's Best Buy.
Can't wait to put the BT phone in the bin!0 -
Greetings one & all...
I'm looking to buy a home telephone which has a really good hands-free speakerphone facility. I've had a few cheap ones before, but the sound quality has been pretty rubbish (eg you have to speak right into it otherwise the person can't hear you, or vice versa)
Additional useful features would be a built-in answerphone (though not essential) and the ability to be able to record calls (I have a little device for doing this, but not sure if it works with all phones - maybe just analogue ones, not digital) - but again, not essential.
Anyway, thanks in advance for any input...SKIPS STONES FOR FUDGE0
