Or, if you don't mind ex-display (and a short guarantee), then maybe two of these:

for £107.97 delivered - and you'd have a spare answering machine and handset.

Mind you, not a company I've ever heard of.

the ETSI DECT Standard which has been used for the last 6 years provides for service between 2010 to 2025 MHz, whilst this does not directly clash with 2.4 MHz Wi-Fi, it has a direct impact of the propagation of both, which in real terms means dropped speech on DECT of various degrees of seriousness, to reduced throughput on the wireless link on WiFi.

I wonder if this is the problem I have been having
I currently have a Phillips CD135 dect phone and a belkin wifi router connected through the same phone socket.
The problem I have been having with the phone is dropped speech and faint sound, until I read this I have been putting it down to the phone and have been looking for a better quality phone. If I buy another dect phone is it likly to have the same problem because of the wifi router or is there anything else I can do to reduce the interference
    thanks

I'm looking for a home phone that uses a charger instead of batteries as the one that's just died on us ate batteries very quickly.
One with a clear display if possible ,as the eyes are not as good as they used to be !

Pretty much any cordless DECT phone will be fitted with rechargeable batteries, which you charge by placing the phone in the base unit.

A standard corded phone? I use a couple of the BT Paragon 650s. They have back lighting display and are mains. The model below is £40 at Argos (check out the reviews). I went with th 650 because I got 3 off eBay for £32inc. They were white box (returns). All completely new. I prefer the 650 as they're black.

I lot of people complain about the Paragon series but I love them. Mine even takes my mobile phone SIM to copy it. Very loud, bright/clear display. Only thing that's poor is the ringer tones. I don't like any of them really but the positives far outweigh that.

Best desk phone I've ever had.

Sorry, should have been more clear. I'm not looking for cordless phones !
It's mainly for my Mum who's not got brilliant eyesight. so it's a stand alone hardwired main phone that's needed (No extensions) with a clear display, so that she can see who's calling ( I can programme the names in etc ) Something that plugs into the mains via a transformer ( Probably has rechargeable batteries in case of power cut ) ...........The last one we had used batteries up very quickly and the display used to fade away before she told me to renew them.
    Thanks for replies

I have a BT relate 2100 sms . Its a corded phone sends texts has a bright display warning though it is not good for hard of hearing as sound on ear is low.
had it for 2 years no problems also has sim card reader for phone book (polyphonic ringtones too if you like that???) And uses ac adapter for power so no batteries needed.

Not many phones need batteries. The memory (stored numbers/names) on higher quality phones is flashed to the unit which keeps the info if there's a powercut.

If there's a power cut the phone still works but not the back light. If you want a clear backlit display then there's nothing close to the Paragons. The writing is massive.

If unsure get the Argos model and you have 30 days to see if you like it or not.
