Sorry, should have been more clear. I'm not looking for cordless phones !

Sorry, since you mentioned batteries I wrongly assumed you meant cordless. I don't recall ever having a corded phone that had batteries.

We supply the BT Converse 1300 to our user at work and have about 800 of them out there, they are very good and with a little shopping around can be got for a decent price. They are a "business" phone but can be bought from plenty of on-line places.

Update:- Just looked on ebay and you can get them for less than £20 delivered :-)

My last caller display corded phone ran on batteries. It was a Cable and Wireless model and used to eat them up. :( I switched to DECT cordless with charger.

I have a new Doro cordless phone and I have put numbers in the phone book. After the name and number I am asked which ringtone I want from a choice of 5. I don't want any, only the usual ring. But this does not seem to be an option. Any ideas if I can get the ordinary ringtone and not one of their choices. Thankyou.
  • I have been looking at Panasonic and Siemens phones which both seem to have good reputations.
What I want is to buy the phone, and really not have to think about replacing it any time soon, so I'm not necessarily looking for the absolutely cheapest one available. Build quality would be quite important..
I need it to have an answer phone, and be cordless with probably 2 handsets, maybe 3.
Oh, and the last wish list item would be, no irritating ring tones. Just a brrrring brrring would do it.
    Thank you in advance.
  • Hi Sorting Out, I too am looking for new phones ~ although I would like a set of 4, on upstairs one down & one for each teenager with an intercom to get them to come down to their bl**dy dinner.

Anyway, I have been also looking at the Panasonic KX-TG8324 which is currently at a bargain price of £70 odd pounds but is out of stock

They currently have the trio version on special offer ~ KX-TG8323 I think it was about £69 ~ these phones have got brill reviews on Argos, and other sites. The deal was on HDUK, and I'm hoping the quad pack will come back into stock.

Hope this helps..... maybe somebody on here has these phones and can give you some advice.
What goes around comes around !! Simple but very true :rotfl:

I can certainly vouch for the quality of the Panasonic range of DECT handsets. One feature that certain models offer is they speak the name of your 20 most called numbers (you record the persons name, and when they call, the phone cross references the number with the recorded name, then lets you know). You need Caller Dispay active, but it is one of the moist useful features I have ever had! Look out for 'Audible Caller Display'.

Needs to be Corded rather than cordless

Don't need an answering machine as i have one of those in the normal rooms in the house

    Prefer cordless / wireless.
Easy to use especially the key pad, speed dial and answerphone.
Panasonic seem to be a good brand.
    Any recommendations / horror stories?
    Thanks
