I don't know if this is the right place but I'm looking for a new home phone.
I only have 1 telephone extension in the house so probably twin phones.
I have had cordless before and there was alot of crackling and I've recently had corded but the volume on the handset was low although on max.
I call the caribbean alot so the sound quality is important.
I don't want to spend the earth but want quality.
Any reccomendations please?

I always found BT phones sound quality good.. but I just wanted to say that if you are buying cordless it doesn't matter how many extensions you have you just place the handsets wherever and as many as you like and plug them into the power, no extension needed...
we just bought BT verve 500 it was expensive but we needed a big colour screen as the old eyesite is going :rotfl: but have found it excellent quality and easy to use icon menu which is so much easier to manage... also I can listen to answerphone messages on any of the 3 handsets which saves me running upstairs where phone line runs into the house...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

I've found the BT Diverse 6350 Telephone Twin Handset.
Which looks good one handset is cordless and one is corded.
Argos have it for £40.00 off at the moment and I'll get free vouchers for spending over £50 at Argos.
Any views?0 -
Hi,
I had a BT dect phone, and had no end of problems with it, and 3 members of my family have BT dect's all with similar problems (the phones will just beep for no reason, sometimes in the middle of the night, and sound quality and range are poor).
I have now got a Panasonic 8122, got it from Amazon for £59.95, but it has now gone up....

The quality is superb, far better than the BT phone. WHICH? like them too.
Hope this helps.

You can't just blanket recommend BT phones.
BT phones are just badged up BT.
Some are excellent quality, many are really poor quality Chinese ones.
I had a BT Diverse X10 DECT phone and the quality and the audio quality was excellent, though now some of the pixels are going on the display, I have a BT Relate SMS corded phone and again sound and build is good.
I did have a BT Decor phone but these are cheaply made poor quality phones and had to take the replacement back because it was the model of phones that were rubbish.
So it is hit and miss with BT badged phones. Don't think if it has a BT badge on it it is automatically going to be an excellent phone. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -

 Many thanks for this recommendation. My home telephones had become problematic and need replacing but didn't know what to buy. Looked on this board and saw this post. Checked them out and purchased them via Amazon. Much cheaper than the High Street. They arrived within 24 hours despite the postal strike.
Well what a shock, didn't realise how antiquated my phones were. You can categorise your telephone numbers and then allocate seperate ring tones and screen colours - bit like 'give us a clue' when the phone is ringing and you cannot read who is ringing 'cos you can't find your glasses. Another helpful feature is that you can put the 'phone into night mode so it doesn't ring between the hours you allocate. If you wish certain numbers to be allowed to over-ride this feature (elderly parents, etc.) then you just set them up in a category of their own. Oh yes and there is an answering machine too.
I am still playing with my new toy and enjoying it too. Once again many thanks and it has been money well spent.0 -
Hi,
This isnt a stricly money saving question - although it sort of is....
I bought a cordless panasonic home phone. It was fine for a coupl eof months but then has stopped working, or work only sporadically. Can anyone suggest a cordless phone (twins phones) that are reliable? My budget is £50 for a twin set.
Thanks0 -
I bought a BT Freestyle 3200 dual phone from BT retail for under £40 which I use with my bt home hub. Very please with it.
ps surely your panasonic phone came with a gaurantee?? Take it back to where you bought it.0 -
I need to buy a new home phone as my bt diverse 3010 (great phone) buttons stick so I can't answer or dial out at times. What is a good phone to buy for up to about £40?
Are these any good, Binatone IDECT X1 Digital Cordless Telephone, BT Mango Tam.
I am looking to buy a set of 2 that have good quality sound on both ends and are easy to use.
Thanks:DThe best things in life are for FREE!!!If you like what you see and find this info useful, please use the thanks button. It costs nothing and means so much.0 -
My 4 year old set of NTL VS1001 have given up the ghost - digital display has gone. I did try buying some more off ebay but ended up with more phones with the same problem and repair not possible.
Looking for a set of 2 - 4 good dect phones, preferably GAP so I can add/replace handsets and I use BT's 1571 so answerphone not needed.
Recommendations please.
Thanks
