Recommendations for Best Cordless phone (merged)

I need a new set of phones and am looking to you lovely people to see if you have any recommendations.
I need a set of cordless phones - trio preferably, with answerphone and handsfree, that works with the BT callsign feature. I work at home and have a separate business number so this last bit is vital.
I currently have a BT Freestyle 3200 (no answerphone) trio which is about 18 months old and TBH - it's carp!! The battery life is dreadful, the reception isn't much better and the handsfree is laughably bad. I have previously had both Philips and Panasonic cordless phones (can't remember the models) which were far superior but they don't work with BT Callsign
So - does anyone have any recommendations? Or would I be better getting a stand alone (corded as I haven't got a corded back up) phone with answermachine for my office and if I do, will it affect the current phones?

I'm looking to buy a cordless landline fone. I don't need multiple handsets, just one will do me fine.
My old one has given up on me, so i'm looking to buy ASAP.
If anyone has seen any deals or has any ideas other than the normal retailers like currys, comet, argos etc i'd be greatful.
Many thanks x0 -
My advice is make sure it has a good battery life, If it was me I would get a twin even if you do not need it, leave one on the charger then when the other goes flat change them over.
The next important part would be ease of use.
Or have one upstairs and one downstairs.
I have a Panasonic set here that are terrible on battery life, but we aslo have a Phillips set that are great for battery life. Get a set that has Ni-MH batteries and not ordinary rechargable batteries.0 -
These two are 'Which' best buys:

If you're on BT Option 2 or 3, whilst I'd never suggest buying a cordless phone just for this purpose, be aware you have 100 or 200 free texts a month respectively so might be worth getting a cordless phone that can SMS to.
There is at least 1 seller on eBay selling refurbished BT Freestyle 210s which can be had for under £11 including postage and packing and these can SMS so might be worth thinking about that if you don't mind buying something not totally brand new.0 -
I got my portable phone from www.shop.bt.com - they regularly discount older lines and the sort function helps to filter out the ones you don't want.0

Have a look at this website http://www.telephonesonline.co.uk/

I bought this one from telephonesonline because it can be used handsfree with a headset. Quite a bulky looking phone but it does the job and the battery does last for ages, although not when my daughter leaves the phone under her pillow for days

edited to add, the headset that comes with it is a mobile phone type, I bought an over head type with microphone from Maplin.0 -

Can't help you with the illuminated buttons but we have found that the BT Freelance XD 1500 Trio works very well indeed. We have very thick walls and have three floors and no problems with reception now. However we do have problems with doorbells! If anyone can recommend a wireless system we would be obliged.0
